Farm Assistant – Day Service

Based at Oasis Southampton City Farm, Green Lane, Southampton SO16 9FQ

Hours: Part-time (16 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent 

Salary: £10,511 per annum (£26,279 for 1 FTE)

Oasis Southampton City Farm is a community focused registered charity working in Southampton. We provide a range of supportive, wellbeing boosting, and nature-based activities for our communities, which include young people and adult learners with disabilities.

We are looking for a farm assistant who will support the Farm Lead in delivering the vision for the farm by supporting the delivery of the farm’s day service, which includes adults with varying learning, physical, and mental disabilities (or different abilities). This role will include:

 · Delivering the day service activities every Monday and Thursday, which include supporting our day service to care for our rescued and rehomed animals, sports, woodland activities, gardening, arts and crafts, and public facing activities.

· Deliver life and employability skills boosting sessions alongside the public, such as pop-up cafes and fundraising stalls.

· To carry out animal cleaning rota responsibilities alongside the day service,

· To support the farm education lead in the day service achieving AQA awards through day-to-day activities.

· To support the education lead in giving tours/pre visits to new adults with learning disabilities,

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

· Relevant qualifications and experience in animal management/social care

· The flexibility to work Mondays and Thursdays, with the opportunity for more hours possible as the programme grows.  

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Proven ability to work alongside others in projects that work with the public.

· Punctuality, reliability, and honesty.

· Ability to always evidence the Oasis ethos and values.

About the role

Your writing skills could help create a future where everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives and is supported to live well.

We’re looking for a copywriter to join our busy, dynamic and creative team. As part of our in-house copy studio, you’ll craft copy, communications and key messages – covering everything from fundraising and campaigning to support and research.

You’ll be a champion of our tone of voice and house style, supporting colleagues to apply our brand to their copy and making their words the best they can be.

You’ll also use your skills and experience to adapt messages for different audiences, and make sure the diverse experiences and needs of people affected by breast cancer are always at the heart of our communications.

About you

Ideally you:

·Will be a copywriter (or in a role focused on writing) who puts the audience at the heart of every piece of writing

·Are self-motivated, organised and comfortable working on several briefs at once

·Enjoy looking for new ways to approach long-standing campaigns and projects, and engaging ways to present complex        information

·  Are a creative thinker, with a portfolio of work that shows your ability to write, edit and adapt copy for different  channels        and audiences

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our London office. Our hybrid working model allows you to work up to 3 days per week at home.

Sessional Farm Assistant

Hourly Rate: £12.60 per hour

Oasis Southampton City Farm is a community focused registered charity working in Southampton. We provide a range of supportive, wellbeing boosting, and nature-based activities for our communities, which include young people and adult learners with disabilities.

We are looking for sessional farm assistants who will support the Farm Lead in delivering the vision for the farm by supporting the delivery of the farm’s variety of activities, including:

 · To deliver youth activities on the farm, supporting young people to help care for the animals

· To deliver birthday parties on weekends to groups of up to 30,

· To deliver animal experiences, giving families the opportunity to meet and greet our rescued and rehomed animals

· To support our adult day service with caring for our animals

· To support with the animal cleaning and feeding rota, alongside groups or individuals.

· To support with the running of our café, which runs on the weekends. Working alongside our youth volunteers to serve refreshments and food.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

· Relevant qualifications and experience in animal management/public sector

· The flexibility to work across the week, including some weekends.

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Proven ability to work alongside others in projects that work with the public.

Farm Assistant – Community Gardening

Contract: 3 Years Fixed Term

Salary: £10,511 per annum (£26,279 for 1 FTE)

Oasis Southampton City Farm is a community focused registered charity working in Southampton. We provide a range of supportive, wellbeing boosting, and nature-based activities for our communities, which include young people and adult learners with disabilities.

We are looking for a Community Gardening Assistant who will support the Farm Lead and community development lead for Southampton in delivering the vision for the farm, the oasis academies, and its wider community by supporting the growth of the farms garden project, as well as community gardens across the city. These tasks will include:

 · Delivering garden based educational and wellbeing boosting activities

· Working alongside our volunteers, young people, and adults with learning disabilities to care for the garden by planting, watering, and sowing.

· To work with Oasis Academies across the city, as well as partner organisations, to support the creation of community garden spaces to boost wellbeing across the city.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:

· Relevant qualifications or experience in horticulture

· The flexibility to work across the week,

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Proven ability to work alongside others in projects that work with the public.

· Punctuality, reliability, and honesty.
