The National Year of Reading 2026 is a national campaign which will address the steep decline in reading amongst children, young people and adults.

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:
- Manage planning and delivery of campaign and communications activity in line with National Year of Reading strategy
- Develop a digital plan to reach target audiences through social media, campaign websites and other online channels
- Develop and deliver a strategy for engagement of high-profile celebrity ambassadors
- Work alongside the National Year of Reading team to manage and brief creative
and communications agencies
- Alongside the media and communications team, develop and manage relationships with media contacts, including acting as the first port of call for
incoming media enquiries, out-of-hours media response and cultivating longer term relationships with journalists, both in the education sector and beyond
- Alongside the media and communications team manage interview requests including fielding and briefing appropriate spokespeople
- Plan, create and write multi-media communications materials, including news stories, social media content, and reports for multi-channels use
- Develop key messages and evidence-based rationale, and test with target audiences
- Ensure consistent, ongoing evaluation of campaign reach and impact, and updates for stakeholder groups.

About the role
The purpose of the social media officer role is to monitor, respond to and triage social media enquiries across Breast Cancer Now’s social media platforms, ensuring our tone and messaging are consistent, clear and engaging.

About the role
The Director of Finance will lead the finance team to ensure the effective support for SFCT’s complex requirements across all aspects of finance, investment management, governance, compliance and risk.

Who we are looking for

As a qualified accountant, you will be someone with knowledge and experience in charity finance, who also has a commercial focus and likely has had a stint in industry. Experience in managing a complex finance function and being proactive when it comes to change is essential, as well as the ability to inspire and develop a team to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.

· Oversee all accounting, cash management, reconciliations and authorisation of payments.

Opportunities will include delivery of specialised interventions, taking direct referrals and helping to support & stabilise those at heightened risk and/ or living through mental health crisis, plus psychoeducation workshops and group programmes will further enable you to engage, empower & support participants to build confidence, develop skills, strategies & achieve goals to improve, maintain & best manage mental health, increase mental wellbeing, and reduce and/ or prevent future crisis.
elop is a London based thriving community-led LGBT+ mental health & wellbeing charity offering a range of support, advice, information, counselling, and group support services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) communities.

The salary band for this role is £32,000 - £34,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

As Policy & Insights Manager, you will ensure the College has impact in influencing the future design and delivery of the child health workforce, by leading on a set of priority projects to promote the sustainability and protection of the child health workforce for future generations.
Working within the Workforce & Careers team, the Policy & Insights Manager will be key in supporting colleagues across multiple teams to ensure the College provides expert, evidence-based policy outputs that influences service planning, and promotes the needs of children and the workforce designed to care for them.
Keeping up-to-date with, including horizon scanning developments in, child health policy and NHS service planning, you will maintain an overview of emerging policy themes at national level and will develop a comprehensive engagement plan to ensure members, health service planners, providers and key decision makers in health across the UK are engaged in the advocacy of the child health workforce.
Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience in a similar line of work in health policy, NHS workforce planning or national advocacy, you will have evidence of understanding the critical role of data and service standards within healthcare design, delivery and workforce planning across the UK.
With excellent project management and stakeholder management skills, you will have demonstrable experience of leading and influencing policy and/or advocacy evidenced by recent outputs relating to child health and/or health services.
This is a crucial and highly impactful role at the College as there are enduring, critical issues in the UK paediatric workforce with understaffed rotas and staff burnout against a backdrop of accelerating demand on acute paediatric services.
A formal project management qualification and experience in line management and/or leadership of a team, along with experience and knowledge of the children’s health sector, would be desirable.
The Workforce and Careers team has a pivotal role within the RCPCH Education and Training Directorate in using research, data and evidence to advocate for the child health workforce. Led by the RCPCH Workforce Planning Board and working closely with senior clinicians, the team oversee a portfolio of paediatric workforce and service configuration data that provides both local and national decision-makers with detailed data investigations, research reports and up-to-date information on key topics impacting paediatric services, such as rota gaps and waiting times.
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Variety is looking for a PR and Communications Manager to join our growing team and take responsibility for our communications strategy to support fundraising, programmes and brand activities. It is an exciting time to join the charity as we have laid the groundwork over the last year to improve our marketing and communication channels and have ambitious plans to double our charity size, to fund life-changing practical support for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
We have a new Director of Fundraising and Communications in place who you will work closely alongside, and your work will be across three areas: content creation including the website, PR and social media. Key to success is putting children’s stories at the heart of our communication and you will need to work independently, guiding the Social Media Officer and freelancers, playing a key role in our collaborative and high-performing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Content creation – identify and gather beneficiary stories and create compelling content for Variety’s communication channels
•PR – develop a network of supportive media contacts and partners to effectively promote our work and proactively target journalists, writing and delivering press releases as needed
•Social media – oversee the social media calendar and have responsibility for the social content and channels. Have managerial responsibility for the Social Media Officer, ensuring content is planned in and comments are monitored with occasional weekend cover
•Interview beneficiaries of Variety, meeting family members, working with external agents (photographers, filmmakers) as necessary to give beneficiaries the best experience while gathering the most relevant information for story telling
•Produce stories with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in the best formats, ensuring brand compliance and accessibility
•Ensure consent is obtained at every stage of content gathering and materials are stored securely in line with GDPR legislation and Variety’s privacy policy
•Monitor and analyse our channels to identify trends and areas to improve
•Work with the Director of Fundraising and Communications on marketing and brand awareness campaigns
•Attend Variety events, maximising engagement and representing the charity
•Manage the communications budget and ensure when using freelance or agency providers we have competitive rates
•Manage email marketing, including creating a monthly newsletter and expanding our reach by building our mailing list
•Manage the website content, ensuring brand consistency and working with external suppliers to manage any website improvements and SEO performance.
• Collaborate with programmes team attending Sunshine Coach presentations and Great Days Out to gather content when required

What the job involves
We’re looking for a Risk Information Officer to join our Health Services, Equity and Improvement Directorate, to sit within the Clinical Services team (consisting of the Specialist Nurse service and Risk Information Service). We deliver a wide range of high-quality services directly to anyone affected by prostate cancer or prostate problems, as well as supporting a range of charity-wide activity.
As Risk Information Officer, you’ll deliver the charity’s Risk Information Service, providing information and support to men at risk of prostate cancer, and their loved ones, via the telephone, email and social media. This is an exciting time to join the team as we anticipate a decision from the National Screening Committee on a prostate cancer screening programme in autumn 2025.
This is a non-clinical role, but you’ll discuss service users’ risk of prostate cancer along the lines of the predominant risk factors (age, ethnicity, family history and BRCA gene status). You’ll also be able to help men make an informed decision about PSA testing by discussing the test’s advantages and limitations and informing them how to access a PSA blood test through their GP. You’ll work closely with the Specialist Nurses to ensure people who need more complex clinical information are supported.
You’ll also discuss the charity’s upcoming TRANSFORM trial and how Prostate Cancer UK is working hard to improve the current landscape and reduce some of the barriers men face around prostate cancer.
You’ll play a key role in developing the Risk Information Service, contributing to conversations and decisions around how to adjust and improve it. You’ll also report back on your work, to help the charity develop its broader understanding of information and support needs when it comes to prostate cancer risk and the PSA blood test.
Reporting into the Clinical Services Senior Officer, you’ll have close and regular contact with assigned Specialist Nurses so that you feel at ease in sharing prostate cancer related information with callers, and in maintaining the boundaries and scope of the service day-to-day. This is a fixed term role until the end of October 2026 covering an internal secondment.
What we want from you
You’ll be a compassionate and resilient communicator; you may be speaking to callers who may be anxious about their risk of prostate cancer. You’ll be a great listener, hearing callers’ concerns and offering a supportive and empathetic response. Although this is a non-clinical role, a strong understanding of the UK healthcare system and a good working knowledge of urology (for example, an understanding of prostate cancer and the PSA blood test) would be an advantage.
You’ll be comfortable in handling more complex conversations, but with the self-awareness to recognise your limitations in offering support and recognising clear boundaries of guidance being provided and be able to direct to our Specialist Nurses when needed.
Experience in using a CRM system will be advantageous in this role and any experience with a helpline or providing support or information over the phone will be beneficial.
