The role 

This is an exciting time to join Dementia UK. Over the past twelve years, the charity has grown from 24 to over 300 staff, from £1m to a £31m turnover, and from 84 to 479 Admiral Nurses. Continuing to increase the number of Admiral Nurses remains at the heart of our new strategy, and the Director of Finance will be pivotal in ensuring this growth is sustainable, strategic, and impactful.

Your Focus

• Lead Relationship Manager for a growing group of high-value donors and prospects, serving as their key point of contact within the College.

• Take ownership of the Taberdars’ Society, the College’s long-standing donor recognition group and help evolve its role to celebrate both existing and future high-value supporters.

Summary

The Interim Head of Funding will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the funding strategy of our three charities (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity, Guy’s Cancer Charity and Evelina London Children’s Charity). The postholder will play a leading role in enabling the successful delivery of funding and impact across our NHS Charities in line with our strategy, covering activities across the full breadth of our funding cycle, from development of proposals, review of applications in line with our governance and overseeing delivery and monitoring of funded programmes. We are looking for an individual with funding experience from the health sector with strong line management experience to support the work of the funding team. The post is being offered on a six-month basis in a covering capacity.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

 

Funding

· Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end funding process from development of applications to decisions and monitoring of funded programmes.

· Overseeing ongoing delivery of the funding strategy by working with Funding Managers to effectively deliver and manage funding portfolios.

· Co-chairing of funding committees as required, supporting delivery in line with our governance structures.

· Oversee effective management of our Special Purpose Funds (SPFs)

· Working with finance teams and Funding Managers to ensure appropriate financial reporting and information is available across our funding portfolio.

· Supporting on financial and operational planning in-year, at mid-year review and in planning for future years, in line with our strategy.

· Supporting Funding Managers to maintain strong relationships with the Trust leads, to enable a partnership approach

· Working closely with the Head of Evaluation & Learning to ensure evaluation and learning are embedded at every stage of the funding cycle

· Leading on cross-team programmes of work such as embedding health equity into our funding, deliver effective patient and public engagement (working with the Patient and Public Engagement Manager) across our decision-making and deliver improvements to our grant-making.

· Supporting the iteration of the funding strategy

 

Other

· Provide line management to the Funding Managers and Patient and Public Engagement Manager as well as supporting the overall work of the wider team.

· As a key senior leader of the Funding and Impact Team, contribute and support the wider work of the team.

· Support the Director of Funding and Impact and Executive Director of Charities with other tasks relating to planning and development as required.

· Build and sustain strong relationships with the Fundraising, Marketing and Engagement teams within NHS Charities to enable collaborative working and sharing of information on our funding portfolio.

Working Environment: 

The post holder should expect to: 

• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home.

We are looking for a passionate and change-maker to be our new Social Change Manager, driving forward and coordinating this long-term and exciting programme. As Deputy Shop Manager at our Ripon Shop you will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond.

Specifically, you will:

· Play an active part in running our shop in Ripon, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

· Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.

· Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

· Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a positive retail environment.

· Ensure there are sufficient volunteers to support the effective operation of the shop during all opening hours.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure the shop is presented to the highest standards with attractive visual merchandising and attractive window displays.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure that all charity policies, shop standards and operating procedures are communicated effectively to all volunteers and are maintained and followed in a consistent manner.

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

· Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

· Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

· To ideally be educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.  

· Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

· To be highly organised with good time management skills.

· To be able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

· To be able to use own initiative.

· To be resilient and adaptable to change.

· To have good planning, guiding and motivation skills to successfully achieve targeted income is desirable.

· A willingness and ability to occasionally travel across the Yorkshire region as needed for training sessions and team meetings.

· A willingness and ability to safely lone work.

· A willingness to complete our pre-employment checks (to be undertaken once the role is offered and accepted) which include:

Today, one person every two minutes is diagnosed with leprosy. It’s a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Left untreated, it causes permanent disability. Stigma means that people affected by this disease are often rejected by those closest to them and excluded from basic services. 

The Leprosy Mission Great Britain (TLMGB) is a leading international Christian development organisation with over 150 years’ experience and is part of The Leprosy Mission worldwide family. TLMGB serves the poorest of the poor in 9 countries, raising funds and developing partner capacity to provide life-changing healthcare, training and job opportunities for people who have been excluded and rejected.

You will have at least two years’ work experience in either the not for profit or research sectors and have experience of coordinating cross-team initiatives, project cycle management and donor reporting. You will have monitoring, evaluation and research skills, with the capacity to work on your own initiative and will be an excellent cross-cultural communicator.

We are particularly interested to hear from people with expertise in disability services, basic science, public health, research, quality assurance, or social enterprise development. You will serve as the liaison between TLMGB and research partners and coordinate the reporting processes, ensuring KPI data is up to date, analysed and reported on.

The Senior Business Development Manager will work closely with the Health Team to identify, develop, and propose new initiatives, contributing to Hestia's ambitious growth targets. They will lead on tenders that align with organisational priorities, finalising technical questions and method statements, and ensuring submissions are completed accurately and on time. The role involves bid writing and review support, conducting research into health and business development models, and exploring integrated funding opportunities. The post-holder will also work alongside Operations and HR teams to develop staffing structures, service delivery models, and financial plans, including modelling the impact of TUPE where relevant.

In addition, the Senior Business Development Manager will support the mobilisation of successful tenders, participate in presentations and clarification interviews, and evaluate outcomes to inform future submissions. They will contribute to Hestia's development strategy by identifying new growth opportunities, supporting service redevelopment, and fostering partnerships or consortia as effective delivery methods. The role requires engagement with commissioners, attendance at strategic forums, production of reports, and participation in internal working groups, while maintaining commercial confidentiality and pursuing personal training and development to enhance understanding of Hestia's services.

About the role

As Director of Impact and Charitable Programmes, you will ensure every pound raised by the Charity delivers the greatest possible benefit for children, families and staff at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. You will facilitate the delivery of the Homeless Health Peer Advocacy by coordinating a team of lived experience peer advocates to deliver 1-2-1 advocacy style support to those experiencing homelessness in Salford. You will help to recruit and train volunteers and support them with their progression goals. The role includes case management of My Health Matters clients including managing referrals, quality assuring support work and coordinating the project’s drop-in network. The post will be based in our office at Swan St but will require travel across Greater Manchester with special focus in and around the Salford area. In addition, occasional travel to other cities including possible overnights may be required.

You understand the barriers to accessing healthcare faced by people who are experiencing homelessness and can form professional relationships with peer advocates and Homeless Health Peer Advocacy clients, all the while following relevant guidance and safeguarding procedures.

You empower those with lived experience through your excellent interpersonal and communication skills and you are as comfortable working collaboratively as you are working independently.

My Health Matters is a peer-led health inclusion project that works towards an inclusive health system where everyone has access to the health care they need, supporting people experiencing homelessness to address physical and mental health issues through the delivery of a Homeless Health Peer Advocacy service. We work to improve people’s confidence in using health services and increase their ability to access healthcare independently. The project brings together frontline health and social care services with those with lived experience supporting the co-production of solutions to health inequalities in Manchester.
