We are looking for kitchen assistants to help us prepare a warm meal for the children that attend our sessions after school or during the school holidays.
Kitchen assistants prepare the meal depending on the ingredients donated to us and based on their confidence level. We want to make sure volunteers feel confident in what they are cooking. Often dishes are: jacket potatoes, pasta bakes, currys, stir fryes.
During term time we tend to have 1-2 volunteers in the kitchen and holidays 3-4, as more children attend the sessions during the holidays.
Expect to feel the community energy when you enter the space, with children attending regualrly and their parients having attended when they were younger. Team feel, with the other volunteers working togther to make the meal.

We are seeking to appoint a voluntary Trustee for our charity who will also take up the role as our secretary.

Is this role for me?

Who is The League of Friends of St Mark’s Hospital Maidenhead?
The League of Friends have been supporting patients in St Mark’s Hospital for over 50 years, helping to provide equipment & an environment that enhances their comfort & care.
We maintain the gardens in the Henry Tudor ward & in Out-Patients, including providing outdoor furniture & planting, as well as providing a range of daily newspapers & making sure a nice cup of Nespresso coffee is available too. We have also helped the hospital over recent years by providing; a cardiac resuscitator, an ECG module, hydraulic treatment couches, specialised podiatry & audiology equipment, and software for a Dexta bone density scanner.
Why are you recruiting now?
While we are proud that we have been supporting St Mark’s for over 50 years, including during the COVID19 pandemic, we have recognised that we now need to need to “regroup”.
The charity has identified 2 immediate objectives; firstly, to develop our fundraising efforts as these have slipped since the pandemic, & secondly, to introduce standards of governance which ensure we fulfil statutory obligations & achieve best practice within a small charity environment.
We have recently appointed a new Treasurer to strengthen financial controls, & a further trustee with responsibility for developing our marketing effort which will provide a firm footing for fund raising. Further trustees have recently been appointed which support our charitable giving within the hospital. But we recognise that we are lacking the skills, knowledge & disciplines that a good secretary can provide.

How much time would I need to dedicate?
You would need to have enough time to arrange, plan & follow up on Trustee meetings. At present these typically take place in alternate months but there may be a need to move these to monthly as the charity grows. One of these meetings will also include the AGM. Meetings are held in Maidenhead.
As secretary there will be other activities which will require action between meetings, for example, keeping the Charity Commission updated, maintaining policies & renewing insurance. While these activities are not onerous their timely upkeep is obviously important.
One of the key features of this appointment will be the need to drive change & establish good governance within the charity. Although we are looking for someone who can help move this forward at speed, we also recognise that “Rome wasn’t built in a day”!

Our Young Ambassadors programme, for 18 – 25 year olds, is built on diversity. As a Young Ambassador, you’ll play a big role in representing The Charity and standing up for young people affected by brain tumours. You’ll help shape the future of brain tumour care and research — all while meeting new friends, growing your confidence, and gaining skills that look great on a CV and feel good in your heart.

You might work with researchers, healthcare teams, partner organisations, and other passionate young people, sometimes in person, sometimes online, all united by one mission: keeping those affected at the centre of every decision we make.

Practical considerations
This is a voluntary role with a term of up to two years, though we understand circumstances may change and you may need to step away earlier.

Induction: You’ll start with a 2-day induction on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April at our office in Fleet, Hampshire

In-person meetings: Two further in person events will take place during the two-year programme. These have previously included training days and residential.

Online meetings: We’ll meet monthly on Microsoft Teams during a weekday evening

Other opportunities: You can choose activities that fit your interests, availability, and preferences. These will be shared via Volunteero, our volunteer app, which all Involvement Champions use. Opportunities may take place on both weekdays and weekends.

We suggest a time commitment of around 1–2 hours per week, but this is flexible. You’ll receive training, regular updates, and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

HMC was established in 2007 to provide advice and support to migrants to help them overcome problems with their immigration status and in accessing services. We welcome all migrants, regardless of immigration status or nationality. With the help of a team of professional advisors and volunteers, we delivery immigration, housing and welfare advice and provide a range of holistic advocacy and support services in a community setting. We work to support visitors to address urgent problems they are facing, and address long term challenges relating to insecure immigration status, homelessness and destitution.
As the external environment for migrants has become increasingly challenging and funding pressures have intensified, we have had to review and adapt the scope of our work. Over the past two years, the staff team has reduced to a team of five, with most roles being part-time. We now have an annual budget of just over £300,000 and are in the process of reviewing what we can realistically achieve, as well as how we can become more resilient and financially sustainable.

We are proud to play a significant role in the global anti-torture movement. Survivors, active and empowered, are at the centre of all of our work.
We are seeking to recruit three new Board members to join our committed Board of Trustees. We are looking for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
▪ Clinical Leadership with substantial leadership experience in NHS or charity trauma services;
▪ Transformation expertise at senior level, whether in a service context or a broader organisational setting;

About The Academy
The ethos of the Confidence Academy is very simple: Participants get their money back once they attend their selected fitness and wellbeing events. When you show up for your health, when you show up for yourself... your refund is your reward.
The Confidence Academy exists to make the tools of confidence-building — through improved nutrition, better mental and physical fitness, and community support — accessible to all, particularly to struggling and marginalised communities who often feel invisible or left behind. Health inequality is one of the biggest injustice of them all that we don't talk about yet our health is the sole foundation of our existence.
Who Created The Confidence Academy?
The Academy is founded by a 37 year old refugee from Bangladesh, Rayhana Sultan. She is an ex-prisoner. This social enterprise was created after she was able to rebuild her life after prison, hospital detention and recovery through psychotherapy and a supportive community. She is now a finance manager working for the local government in the UK. Outside her day job, she is a model, a panel advisor for the charity Working Chance and now through the Confidence Academy, she wants other people to find the inspiration to turn their pain into power, stigma into strength.
The inception of this CIC is driven by the fact that nearly 60% of the UK population in 2023/24 were reported as obese or overweight. This is a national crisis in a context where our healthcare system is overstretched, support for mental health is not on par which can be exacerbated by health-related problems and an ageing population is awaiting us. Growing old or not being able to afford the regular gym in an era should not mean fitness services are inaccessible to you. So we are here to change it.
What's Happening Next?
We will begin rolling out weekend fitness and wellbeing activities shortly after New Year 2026, supported by online seminars, podcast-style discussions, and community “vox pop” features that amplify real voices and lived experiences around health, confidence, and inclusion. These activities will include group exercise sessions, nutrition and wellness education, mindset and resilience workshops, and confidence-building programmes designed to enhance both physical and mental wellbeing.
Your Role
As the Recruitment Lead, you will work closely with the Director, attend briefing meetings, and then take independent leadership over the recruitment function. This role suits someone who enjoys people-focused work, brings creativity, takes pride in ownership, and wants to help build the Confidence Academy from the ground up.
This opportunity is ideal for someone starting their career in HR or people-management and looking for meaningful work experience.

Recruitment & Selection

Draft job descriptions for new volunteer roles.

Post opportunities on recruitment platforms and community boards.

Work with other team members to create infographics and promotional materials for vacancies.

Review incoming CVs.

Email applicants and manage communications professionally.

Schedule interviews and manage the interview diary.

Interview candidates as one of the panelists.

Prepare interview formats, scoring sheets, and structured question sets.
Onboarding & Volunteer Support

Assist in onboarding new volunteers.

Maintain the internal volunteer database and ensure information is kept updated.

Demonstrate people-oriented leadership and emotional intelligence by supporting team wellbeing, fostering communication, and promoting a positive culture.

Develop training materials for continuous professional development of the Volunteers in collaboration with the Director.

If desired, you may also deliver informal training to build your presentation and public-speaking skills.

Description
Youth Advantage UK (YAUK) is seeking a Volunteer Senior FOI Researcher. The successful candidates will be allocated to lead our FOI Team which supports our research projects nationally and locally by submitting and progressing Freedom of Information Requests. They should have excellent writing and speaking skills, IT literacy, and the ability to work well independently and in a team.
Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee a small team in drafting, submitting and following up FOI requests in addition to supporting the research projects that require such data.

Ensuring of ethical compliance and high ethical standards

Coordinating the needs of various research teams with regards to FOI requests as support is required
-
Drafting FOI requests: Write precise, legally compliant requests that maximize the chance of disclosure.

Tracking submissions: Maintain a log of requests, deadlines, and responses to ensure timely follow-up.

Analyzing responses: Review disclosed information, assess its reliability, and extract insights relevant to the research project.

Appeals and reviews: Prepare internal review requests or appeals to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if disclosure is refused.

Collaboration: Work with other teams to align FOI requests with broader research goals.

Reporting findings: Summarize obtained information and provide the data for progress by specific research teams
Requirements:

Knowledge of FOI legislation: Understanding of Freedom of Information requests and proven experience in submitting them.

Communication skills: Excellent writing and speaking skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly.

IT literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite for drafting, tracking, and reporting.

Collaboration and independence: Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

A Safer Neighbourhood Board is established in every borough giving local Londoners and victims a greater voice.
Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board entails a team of volunteers and local agencies who will work together to advise the Borough Commander.
The Board consists of a wide range of individuals representing Barnet’s diverse communities alongside the statutory positions defined in the MOPAC Guidance, involving people of all ages and from all sections of the community. This includes those who may not have been actively involved before, who may be vulnerable or who have been a victim of crime.
Barnet’s Safer Neighbourhood Board will be required to:
· Help identify and advise on Barnet’s local policing
· Monitor police statistical data, performance and confidence
· Fulfil a range of specific functions.
