Role Overview:

The Head of Governance, Risk & Company Secretary is a pivotal leadership role within St John Ambulance Cymru (SJAC), responsible for ensuring the charity’s governance, legal compliance, risk management, and quality assurance functions are robust, effective, and strategically aligned with our goals.

This dual-role combines governance oversight with the leadership of organisational quality systems, ensuring that SJAC remains a trusted, safe, and high-performing organisation. The postholder will serve as Company Secretary to the Board and also lead operational governance initiatives across the charity.

What you’ll need to be successful

To thrive as our Head of Governance, Risk & Company Secretary, you’ll need leadership experience, particularly in governance, compliance, or quality assurance—ideally within a charity or healthcare setting. You’ll bring a strong understanding of governance codes and/or systems, risk management frameworks, and UK charity law along with the ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion. A Chartered Governance Institute (ICSA) qualification or equivalent is desirable, as is experience acting as a Company Secretary. You’ll be confident leading cross-functional teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across the organisation. Flexibility, integrity, and a commitment to our values are essential.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Governance and Secretariat

• Lead the governance function, ensuring excellent support and strategic guidance to the Board, Committees, CEO and SLT.
• Manage statutory duties including Companies House and Charity Commission filings.
• Oversee Trustee induction, development, and ongoing governance training.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of agendas, minutes, and decision records.
• Act as the primary liaison for legal, constitutional, and regulatory matters.

Quality, Risk and Assurance

• Develop and maintain quality assurance systems to monitor performance and learning.
• Line manage the Health, Safety & Environment Business Partner and National Facilities Manager.
• Oversee investigations into complaints, serious incidents, and whistleblowing concerns.
• Maintain and report on the Board Assurance Framework and Risk Register.
• Lead preparation and coordination for audits (including ISO, Home Office, and other regulators).
• Ensure that actions taken in pursuit of the Quality, Risk and Assurance agenda link to a budget and engage with the relevant budget holders as required. 

Regulatory and Legal Compliance

• Serve as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer.
• Ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation (charity, company, GDPR, health & safety, etc.).
• Review internal policies and procedures to maintain regulatory alignment.
• Advise departments and project leads on relevant compliance and risk issues.

Culture and Continuous Improvement

• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure that quality, governance, and assurance practices reflect the charity’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Support alignment across St John Councils and internal departments with national standards and policies.

The National Lottery Community Fund is seeking a Senior Government Relationship Manager to lead our relationships with governments across the UK as part of our newly restructured communications function. This role represents a significant opportunity in our new function as we implement our ambitious communications strategy that shifts from traditional grant-making support to demonstrating the powerful impact that communities have across the UK.

As a senior member of the External Affairs team and a key part of our wider communications team, you will lead our relationship with DCMS as our sponsor department and build a coherent approach to government relations across the UK that recognises the needs of all of the devolved administrations.  You will build connections with relevant government departments, acting as the key coordinator and source of knowledge and insight for all government-related activity at the Fund.

Your role as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on government relations and building our reputation will be critical to our success. Your political insight will help the Fund maintain its identity as a champion of community-led change while providing senior counsel on engaging with ministers and officials.

You will work in close collaboration with communications and funding colleagues to anticipate and mitigate risks in a structured way, handling sensitive issues when they arise. Your strong understanding of the political landscape and ability to build strong relationships will support the Fund’s wider strategic objectives.

We're looking for a government relations professional with significant experience who can build influential relationships across all levels of government and who can provide expert analysis of policy developments. The ideal candidate will bring a sophisticated understanding of the UK political landscape and the workings of government. You will be politically astute with experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and balancing diverse priorities. Your background might include policy development, stakeholder or government relations or public affairs in a government department, a public body or a large mission-driven organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a consistent approach to government relations across the UK, maintaining systems and processes for ensuring effective delivery
• Lead our sponsor relationship with DCMS and build relationships and connections with relevant departments, managing and co-ordinating responses to departmental requirements and identifying opportunities to demonstrate our value.
• Provide strategic horizon scanning and expert policy analysis, disseminating information and advice to senior leaders
• Coordinate the Fund's interactions with governments across the UK
• Develop engagement plans for ministers and senior officials
• Create high-quality briefing materials for senior leadership for meetings with government ministers and senior officials, attending meetings as appropriate
• Lead on policy positioning papers on key issues
• Support Communications colleagues to ensure country and regional government relations are aligned

The Bird of Prey Project is a registered charity and multiple award-winning visitor centre and zoo working to conserve birds of prey, restore habitats and make wildlife education accessible. At this exciting time for the organisation, we are looking to recruit a new Charity Manager who can manage the visitor centre whilst working alongside the Board of Trustees to develop strategy and objectives for the charity. You will have the incredible opportunity to lead a team working to inspire the public about wildlife, develop the highest standards of bird welfare and restore populations of wild raptors.  

What is the role about?

The Charity Manager works directly with the Board of Trustees to manage the charity and visitor centre.

The visitor centre receives over 10,000 visitors per year who provide the majority of the charity’s income. The senior bird team provide a high standard of ethical raptor care to over 20 species, using restraint free management and free-flight techniques, and also deliver experiences and displays to the public. The Charity manager works to ensure that the site is safe and compliant with law & best practice, the senior bird team are provided with adequate resources and that the visitor centre is meeting goals for income generation.   

The charity’s mission is to Conserve birds of prey, restore habitats and make wildlife education accessible. The Charity Manager over-sees the staff team delivering the charity activities, ensuring work is recorded and reported correctly.

You would also be responsible for line managing both Deputy Centre Managers. You should be confident in making decisions and able to balance opportunity and risk. An ability to operate within and develop governance, finance and risk frameworks is also a key part of the role, and whilst a background with working with birds of prey or in wildlife conservation is not necessary, you should be passionate about The Bird of Prey Project’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Line manage and lead personal development of the Deputy Centre Managers.
• Overseeing income generation through visitor experience, including social media and marketing
• Develop new streams of income generation – including fundraising
• Act as company secretary and ensure our compliance with our licensing requirements, Charity Commission guidance, financial regulations, the law, and other relevant regulations/guidance/best practice.

· Embedding participatory approaches across our public affairs and wider influencing activity

Supporting further development of a participatory approach to policy influencing to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty.  This includes ensuring an ethical approach in line with our values.

· Providing advice and line management

Have line management responsibility for individuals within the team, providing pastoral and development guidance along with task management on key projects.  This includes regular 1:1s, objective setting and collaborative monitoring, and support with development needs.

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

The Role

This is an exciting role joining a Programme Team of 15 staff based throughout the UK. You will work closely and collaborate with the other Network Managers and share some priorities across regions, working to develop the region as a whole. The purpose of this role is to facilitate good relationships between the mentors and mentees in the region. 70-80% of the role is about relationship building (with schools, mentors and partners), coordination and the tracking/ administration of those relationships. 15-20% of the role is direct delivery with the girls in the region.

Mentoring programme

• Manage overall success of the cohorts (groups of mentees and mentors) in your region, including coordinating and administering events and communications for cohorts in your area.
• Deliver engaging on-boarding sessions for mentees.
• Design and deliver events and workshops for mentees.
• Deliver matching of mentees and mentors at in-person events or virtually.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society – Director of Income and Engagement

Location: Dependant on distance, the role will be either fully remote with occasional travel to the Bath office (around once per quarter), or hybrid for those based nearby.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS), the UK’s largest national charity dedicated to improving bone health and beating osteoporosis, is seeking a bold and dynamic fundraising and communications leader who can drive transformative income growth and galvanise public engagement.

Half of women aged over 50 live with osteoporosis, plus a fifth of men.  The condition causes bones to break (fracture) following everyday occurrences – e.g. sneezes, coughs and falls.  Fractures are the fourth worst cause of disability and premature death, but most people with osteoporosis are undiagnosed.

ROS works to improve diagnosis and access to care for the unacceptably high number of people whose lives risk being destroyed by this highly treatable condition each day. They equip people with practical information and support to take action on their bone health and, working with healthcare professionals and academics, influence and shape policy and practice at every level. The charity’s research arm is investigating new diagnostic approaches, including the world’s first screening programme, as well as novel treatments to beat osteoporosis for good.

This is a pivotal time for ROS as they aim to seize on momentum garnered from half a million people checking their risk, two national media partnerships, a groundbreaking Ministerial pledge to roll-out early diagnosis clinics to every area, and more people than ever engaging with their services. They aim to lead a movement for change around bone health similar to those that have gained widespread attention by menopause and prostate cancer campaigners.

To capitalise on this momentum and as the charity prepares for its 40th anniversary, the time is right for ROS to step up fundraising and public engagement to address one of the most urgent threats to people living well in later life and meet the charity’s vision - No more broken bones, no more broken lives. To achieve this, the ROS Board has committed to investing up to 80% of annual designated spent into developing fundraising every year up to 2030.

To deliver on this investment, the ROS team is seeking a creative and inspiring fundraising and communications leader who can build strong partnerships, harness digital innovation and create and deepen supporter journeys to convert awareness into long-term support.

As well as driving the delivery of a transformational audience-centric growth strategy, the role-holder will also be responsible for building a powerful organisational brand to reflect ROS’s vision and impact, as well as compelling communications and media plans to drive momentum. They will lead and motivate a high-performing team, as well as embedding a fundraising culture across the organisation and acting as a key ambassador for the cause.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of senior leadership experience and possess outstanding business acumen. They will have proven success in developing and delivering income generation and communication strategies within the health or not-for-profit sector. They should also have extensive experience of setting and delivering an organisational income development vision and securing buy-in from colleagues at the most senior level. Experience in building and maintaining a strong brand profile and of driving impactful communications and PR to underpin income generation will be essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across department boundaries and externally to achieve organisational goals. Finally, they will have a ‘can do’ personality with the gravitas, energy, creativity and solutions-focused mindset to drive transformative income growth.

About the role

As a Finance Business Partner, you will have responsibility for the leading the annual budget setting process for the organisation – circa. £8m.

You'll report to to the CEO, Executive Team (ET), and with the Finance and Commercial Director (FCD) support the preparation of papers for the Board on the numbers, with narrative, detail and analysis where appropriate.

The role will not line manage but will be expected to coach, mentor, collaborate with and contribute to the development of the other members of the finance team - we are, all of us, internal customer facing.

As Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for supporting budget holders to produce robust forecasts for the Management Accounts and to produce monthly Management Accounts with the Finance Manager.

We are looking for a committed, highly organised Head of Operations to join us and support JustMoney Movement's Executive Director and the wider team in turning our vision of a fairer, greener future into reality.

Background to the organisation and the role 

The JustMoney Movement is a Christian charity, with longstanding relationships across the Catholic, Anglican, Nonconformist and Pentecostal denominations. We have a vision of a fairer, greener future, and we believe money is integral to shaping that future. As Christians we believe our use of money should flow from our faith and values such as justice, compassion, the dignity of all, and the importance of caring for creation.

Our work is mostly online and our team work largely remotely, with some team members coming together in a shared office space in London regularly. We are a very small team, punching above our weight and seeking to have a significant impact on economic and financial system change. We are a values-led organisation putting a high store on the wellbeing of our staff, the quality of our relationships and collaborations, and the integrity of our ways of working.   

Our vision, strategy and activities 

The financial system and wider economy are harming people and planet, leading to crises in our climate and nature and to huge economic inequalities. We rebranded from ECCR to the JustMoney Movement in 2022 to reflect our aim to build a movement of people seeking a more just use of money. Our theory of change is that we need to draw together a diverse range of Christians, churches and Christian networks, as part of a broader movement, to help create political space for financial and wider economic system transformation.

This role: Head of Operations (part-time 14 hours a week) 

The Head of Operations will work closely with the ED and support the team in the smooth running of the organisation. 

Role Requirements 

​​The role would assist the ED in identifying and implementing operational processes to help turn the organisation’s vision into reality and measure its impact.​  This grade of role is expected to have a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy, including responsibility for whole areas of work, the work of others and the allocation of resources. ​​ ​​​ ​​ 

​​​Particular areas of work include:​​ ​​​​ 

• ​​​​​​​​As part of the staff team, contribute to organisational strategic planning and action planning.​

• ​​​​​Support JustMoney Movement’s team in the delivery of their work e.g. helping organise team meetings and away days, ensuring good online filing and record keeping, effective planning tools and monitoring mechanisms, and effective procurement and replenishment of resources. ​​ 

• Support stakeholder relationships through oversight of our CRM and developing donor reporting tools. 

• Carry out discrete operational tasks e.g. arranging insurance and dealing with Companies House and Charity Commission queries as necessary.

• Assist the Executive Director with ​​any other operational priorities as they arise. 

Person specification 

Essential 

• Empathy with JustMoney Movement’s vision and work. 

• Experience of operations responsibilities within a charity. 

• Exceptional organisational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. 

• Ability to grasp operational complexity and yet communicate clearly to non-specialists. 

• A creative approach to problem solving and a strong “can-do” attitude. 

• Ability to work collaboratively within a small team, as well as working independently, largely on a remote and therefore digital basis. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Teams, Sharepoint and Outlook.

• Grade 3.1 expected FTE salary £36,771 pro-rated to 0.4 FTE/ 14 hours a week = £14,708.

• Remote based: this role will be based from home, with occasional travel to meetings in London or elsewhere in the UK. This role is equivalent to 2 days a week but hours can be worked flexibly through the week.
