Job Purpose

One Place London is a community interest company located in West London engaged in Acting for Film and Music Recording workshops for young people aged 14-25, unemployed or at risk of getting involved in crime. We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to join the team. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Managing Director facilitate the smooth running of our human resources function, including onboarding new employees, managing the HR systems and assisting with some aspects of payroll and employee benefits.

Whilst specific legal training is not required, solid HR legal knowledge will be advantageous.

This role would suit someone keen to develop their functional expertise in HR and gain exposure to the breadth of operational functions

About the role

As a Volunteer your role will include:

• Contacting services users to conduct a needs assessment, identifying service user needs and services to be delivered
• Deliver the appropriate services consisting of emotional and practical support
• Signpost to other organisations where needed, and complete onward referrals where consent has been obtained from the victim. 
• Advocate for service users with other organisations where appropriate e.g. with the police, housing associations etc.

What do we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Service Delivery Volunteer, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or over.
• Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week, for at least 12 months.
• Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes five virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.
• Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.
• Be able to provide two satisfactory references.

Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

• All Victim Support volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering, including travel and lunch.

• Monitor volunteers during their appointments to retain or replace candidates
• Meet and check-in with volunteers regularly to assess their progress and satisfaction, as well as to conduct evaluations or skills audits
• Help to induct new volunteers
• Maintain regular communication among volunteers and between an organisation and its volunteers, in order to share news, progress, and available positions
• Maintains a database of volunteers and projects and track metrics
• Help to promote the charity and its volunteer accomplishments 
• Set up and arrange any relevant training required for volunteers

What are we looking for?

The Volunteer Co-ordinators role requires proactive and detail orientated individuals with an organised approach and an interest in supporting small charities. They will have good communication skills. The Volunteer Co-ordinators are responsible for the volunteer aspects of Burning Nights CRPS Support to ensure the smooth running of the charity’s services and ensuring that the volunteers are used optimally.

Our Volunteer Co-ordinators are also responsible for ensuring that suitable volunteers have DBS checks where needed and they are adequately trained to do their role working with our Charity Administrator.

But we see and know first hand the impact it has on those living with it and on those caring for someone with the condition. This role is done remotely using Zoom, phone and email. You would be working closely with the volunteers and trustees. However we would have regular updates and remote meetings with the Chair and/or Trustees.
