This is a senior role focused on developing and expanding Communities 1st’s enterprise activity, ensuring services are innovative, inclusive, and financially sustainable. You will have direct oversight of current enterprise services and play a pivotal role in helping other teams to develop traded offers and take a more enterprising approach to their work.

You will:

• Lead the delivery, growth, and improvement of our existing social enterprise services – including community centres, facility hire, and handyperson services.
• Drive development of new income-generating opportunities in collaboration with other teams – such as our Coffee Cart, corporate and school workshop offers, and creative venue-based initiatives.

Purpose of the Job:

To lead and develop a growing portfolio of social enterprise services that generate income, increase social value, and support our charitable mission. The role focuses on both direct service management and cross-team collaboration to stimulate innovation, scale, and sustainability across our wider work.

General Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations and strategic development of all community-focussed enterprise services.
• Identify and implement opportunities to grow and diversify income across multiple service areas.
• Support other teams to explore and develop enterprise elements aligned to their goals and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Line Management

• Lead and support a multidisciplinary team delivering community enterprise services, including facilities, traded services, and community-based projects.

Enterprise Strategy & Development

• Develop and evolve business plans and service models that balance social mission and financial sustainability.

Supported Volunteering and Employment

• Work with the Wellbeing, Employment & Skills team to offer inclusive volunteering and work placement opportunities within enterprise services.
• Support volunteers and participants to develop confidence, skills, and pathways to employment or further involvement.
• Ensure person-centred, inclusive practice is embedded across enterprise operations.

Marketing, Sales & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to raise the profile of enterprise offers and increase reach and take-up.
• Build relationships with external stakeholders including businesses, schools, and community partners.
• Develop productive working relationships with suppliers, delivery partners, and venues to support joint initiatives and operational effectiveness.

Quality

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice, and learning.
• Lead the implementation of standard operating procedures and embed quality assurance processes across enterprise activities.

A growing £1million turnover charity dedicated to the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of music have newly created a Head of Finance and Operations role. This role will drive organisational impact with a values driven approach towards financial strategy, resource optimisation, and operational excellence.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Head of Finance and Operations provides a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership across the core support functions of the charity. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• As a member of the SLT, actively contribute to the development and delivery of the charity's strategic plan, leading on the organisational planning and performance for operational areas.
• Work with the CEO to ensure the Board fulfils its legal, regulatory, and financial responsibilities with effective controls through various Board meetings and sub-committees.
• Lead on the risk management for the charity, working with the Board and SLT to identify, record and mitigate risk.
• Act as the Data Protection Officer for the charity
• Lead, manage and develop the Finance Manager to oversee day to day financial operations and controls.
• Lead, manage and develop the Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day management of the charity's core support functions.

• Develop, lead and implement the financial strategy to ensure long-term financial sustainability. whilst managing cashflow, reserves and investments in line with the relevant policies.
• Lead on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting providing analysis to the CEO, SLT, Board and budget holders to support decision-making.
• Prepare and complete annual accounts and statutory returns ensuring compliance with charity finance regulations, managing relationships with auditors and financial institutions.

• Working with external providers, and advisors, lead on people strategy, including recruitment, retention, performance and people development.
• Ensure legal compliance with employment law and best practice HR policies.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive organisational culture, collaborating with other SLT colleagues to embed the actions on the charity's Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), leadership development and culture change strategic plans.

• CCAB recognised qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)

An exciting role focused on growing and supporting the range of events that take place in Bridge 5 Mill, being first point of contact with potential hirers of our events spaces, supporting our community of tenants and users, and supporting  Bridge 5 Mill’s day to day operations, including reception, marketing and social media. 

BACKGROUND

Bridge 5 Mill is a centre of social change in a historic 5 storey mill on the edge of Ancoats / Northern Quarter, comprising workspaces and event spaces. Our unique sustainable and ethical approach characterises our building and drives all our activities. Bridge 5 Mill is part of a family of organisations (part of the Fairfield Environment Trust, a registered charity) including the Kindling Trust, promoting ecological and social justice through a broad range of projects. 

We have just fixed our broken lift. This is great news, as the period without a lift had a significant impact on our community of tenants, wider users and on our income from venue hire (with far fewer events able to take place during this time). This came on the tail of the Covid pandemic, which transformed how and when people use workspaces and events spaces. 

We are now at a pivotal time to rebuild both our events program and our offer as a beautiful, ethical and central venue to hire, as well as exploring how to diversify our services. You will be an instrumental part in the development and growth of our activities and in overcoming these  recent challenges.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a small dedicated team to help us deliver our vision. Alongside the Building Manager, your role will cover day to day operations, reception, events and marketing. You will be central to supporting events and our hirers, promoting our social change vision, and making Bridge 5 Mill a thriving community hub. As ISWAN’s Head of Helpline Services, you will be responsible for the strategic development, account management and evaluation of all ISWAN helpline services.  

We have no preconceptions about where the successful applicant will come from but you will bring experience of managing multi-channelled helpline operations and best practice as well as planning, measuring and delivering user and client service improvements.

About Children Not Numbers

The conflict in Gaza has left thousands of children in urgent need of medical care, trauma support, and long-term assistance. Children Not Numbers is a grassroots UK-based charity committed to the health, safety, education, and wellbeing of Gaza’s children.

Children Not Numbers was established in early 2024 to address the urgent need to support Palestinian children caught up amid an unprecedented conflict. Within 18 months, we have grown rapidly into a global network of c.200 staff and volunteers, most of whom are volunteer paediatric medics representing more than 30 subspecialties.

Our work includes:

• Emergency medical aid for sick and injured children in Gaza, delivered through collaboration between local staff and an international network of volunteer medics

• Short-term medical evacuation for urgent and complex cases – more than 230 children have been safely evacuated to date

• Rehabilitation and trauma support for children with life-changing injuries and extreme psychological trauma

• Maternal Support Programme – over 500 women supported across 1,100+ appointments

Black Country Living Museum is looking for a Team Manager to lead, support, and inspire our team of Historic Characters as they bring Black Country history to life once more. If you’re an experienced people manager with a passion for great customer service and a knack for getting the best out of a team, we’d love to hear from you!
 
What will you be doing?
 
• Managing a large team of Historic Characters.
• Working with the team of Team Managers to create an immersive visitor experience - from delivering seasonal programmes and themed events to school visits, evening experiences, and special venue hire occasions. No two days are the same!
• Working with our people team to recruit and onboard new starters.
• Training and developing the team so they feel confident, prepared, and ready to deliver a great experience every day.
• Effective rostering of the team to enhance delivery of the Museum’s programmes.
• Handling staff queries, concerns and performance issues - liaising with the People Team where necessary.
• Being a visible presence in support of the Team, including regular weekend and evening work on a rota basis with the other Team Managers.
• Evaluating the delivery of the Museum’s programme across all audiences.

Role Purpose:

We are looking for an organised and proactive professional who is comfortable working across finance and operations, including HR and compliance. You will combine attention to detail with a collaborative approach to support smooth and efficient operations.

You will play a key role in day-to-day activities related to finance, HR, IT, compliance, office and other operational activities, supporting the CFOO to ensure company policies and processes are adhered to efficiently and effectively.

 Key Responsibilities:

General

• Act as the main liaison for a number of SASC’s outsourced supplier relationships – finance, compliance, company benefits, tax, company secretarial and HR, IT support.
• Manage the day-to-day use of financial and HR systems and apps, such as those to process staff expenses, and ensure that they are used as intended.
• Ensure adherence to the company procedures and controls, and suggest improvement where appropriate.

Finance

• Review monthly payroll / pensions data elements.
• Review and authorise third-party expenditure.
• Coordinate company secretarial activities, including company filings.
• Coordinate and review statutory accounts production for SASC’s various micro-entities.
• Coordinate the annual audits for both SASC, its affiliate charity (SASC Trust) and its various funds.
• Coordinate annual insurance renewal processes.
• Coordinate investor drawdowns and distributions for SASC’s funds.
• Assist with annual budget / business plan as required.

HR

• Maintain HR system records, such as training records and certificates.
• Assist with staff benefits administration.
• Assist with policies and procedures updates.
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes.

Compliance

• Review compliance data and collate information for quarterly FCA regulatory filings.
• Coordinate the provision of information as part of periodic compliance monitoring.

IT/Office Management

• Responsible for maintaining the IT equipment register (incl. laptops and mobiles) and ensuring the smooth onboarding of joiners and offboarding of leavers in relation to IT matters.
• Oversee general office duties for the London office (e.g. office supplies).
• Provide ad-hoc assistance to the CFOO as required.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience in a role at a similar level.
• Strong Excel and IT skills.
• Willing to work flexibly and fluidly, can take instructions and can also work independently.
• Analytical in approach, able to quickly gain an understanding of complex work and confident in seeking clarification when needed
• Excellent time management and ability to work on multiple projects effectively.
• Organised, attention to detail and able to work to high standards.
• Proactive, hardworking and a team player.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communicating professionally and confidently with outsourced suppliers and team members.
• Ability to work in a team environment, remaining flexible and willing to accept new challenges in a changing environment.

Desirable but not essential

• Part-qualified accountant.
• Exposure to accounting systems (e.g. Xero) would be beneficial to support reviews, although full bookkeeping responsibilities sit with external providers.
• Understanding of how funds and their structures operate.

We are seeking a dynamic Finance Manager to take charge of all fiscal matters to enable the charities work to continue to flourish and grow.  The post holder will be a member of the Senior Management Team and be responsible to the CEO, therefore they will be expected to contribute to the development of the charity.

The job will be full time, which is 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.  Flexible start and finish time are avilable, around the core hours of 10am to 4pm, but we do require you to work from our Centre in Derby. 

The responsibilities of this post are:-

• Create and record monthly sale invoices to send to clients and customers and credit control
• Process supplier invoices
• Manage petty cash, credit cards and cash flow
• Undertake payroll, expenses and pensions
• Check monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations,
• Prepare the annual financial budgets in conjunction with the Senior Management Team and CEO
• Prepare monthly accounts and reports comparing actual expenditure to budget for St James Centre and report any major variances to the CEO
• Prepare a summary financial report for Board Members (approximately 6 times per year)
• Work with the company auditors to support the preperation of he Annual Accounts

Person Specification:  You will need to have at least an AAT Level 4 qualification or a full or part qualified accountant ACCA/CIMA and a minimum of 3 years experience of managing finance in a medium sized Organisation. Excellent IT skills in Moneysoft, Sage, Excel and Word are needed. Knowledge of the Voluntary Sector is helpful. Willing to complete an enhanced DBS.
 

The salary is £35,921 per annum.  We offer 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.

Job Title: Service Manager

Location: Hounslow and Hillingdon
Salary: £43,627.32 per annum (Inclusive of London Weighting, which may not be applicable depending on your home location and any agreed permanent homeworking arrangement)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. As part of this role, you will be required to work from site and participate in an out-of-hours on call rota

We are recruiting for Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.  This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Hounslow & Hillingdon to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. Our service provision in Hounslow & Hillingdon includes number of refuges supporting survivors and their children.

The post holder will provide line management and support to the accommodation based services staff. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. You will also ensure that all service users in refuges always receive a high-quality support service in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures.

The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  

You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.   

As member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call management service.

The service manager will be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully, this includes ensuring that the services operate within the allocated budget and that Refuge’s high-quality standards are maintained. The role may involve visiting potential sites and contributing to the establishment of new services in conjunction with the development team.

Please note that this post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.
