Job description

Job title: Centre Manager
Salary: £35,077.91 per annum plus benefits
Location: Gildersome, Leeds
Job type: Permanent
Hours per week: 40 hours
Closing date: 05 January 2020
Interview date: 15/16 January 2020

Please be aware this is a full time position working 40 hours per week (5 days) on a rota basis to include weekends.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a commitment to animal welfare to join our team as Centre Manager at our busy Gildersome Centre. This role will also manage a selection of pens at the nearby College of Animal Welfare, Leeds Centre.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity with a nationwide network of adoption and homing centres, volunteer-run branches and charity shops. During 2018 we helped around 184,000 cats and kittens, an average of 500 per day.

Our adoption and homing centres care for thousands of cats each year until they are able to find a loving new home. In 2018, 41,000 cats were rehomed and 3,000 more reunited with their owners. This success would not be possible without our dedicated team of employees and volunteers. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our centres are the face of Cats Protection and we pride ourselves on our employees providing the very best in animal welfare and customer service.

We are looking for people who share our values of placing cats and their welfare first, never putting a healthy cat to sleep, valuing and respecting our volunteers, supporters and staff, providing the highest quality of service and being open and honest. As Centre Manager you will ensure the welfare of all cats in our care and ensure that all administrative and maintenance procedures are completed to a high standard that is in keeping with our vision. Involved in all aspects of the running of the centre, you will ensure the site is staffed effectively, the cats are looked after properly and all policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.

Cats Protection Gildersome’s dedicated team of employees and volunteers care for over 400 cats a year across their homing centre and admissions pens based in South West Leeds. We are seeking an excellent communicator and people manager to support and lead our team, and proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to strive to do more for the needy cats of West Yorkshire. In 2020 we hope to expand our work to help more cats and seek a candidate with a love of cats, and a passion for working with people in a unique operational setting.

Our successful candidate will be a team leader or someone with experience as a supervisor, ideally within an animal welfare environment or organisation, preferably with cats. You will have knowledge of the prevention and control of infectious diseases in cats; be driven, positive and enthusiastic, have plenty of initiative and the ability to thrive under pressure. Great communication, interpersonal and organisation skills will be key, as is an adaptable management style. A flexible approach to working hours including the ability to work weekends will be required.
