Our Personal Safety Project (PSP) is a free service which aims to help older people who have fallen or are at risk of falling at home. The service is available to anyone aged 50 and over who lives in the borough of Croydon.

Our trained assessors carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to identify potential causes of falls and hazards in the home and can arrange for stair rails, grab handles and other necessary aids and adaptations to be supplied and/or fitted, free of charge. The project can provide ongoing telephone support for up to six weeks to monitor the risk of further falls post engagement.

The Order of St John is both an international charity providing first aid and community healthcare in 44 countries and territories across the globe and a modern Crown Order of Chivalry. A small secretariat in London provides support and strategic direction for organisations in the St John family and the Order’s governance bodies. We are looking for a Head of Chancery to join the senior management team in the International Office in London, with specific responsibility for the Order of Chivalry. 

This is an unusual job, offering candidates with an interest in the chivalry and the history and traditions of a historic Order, combined with an understanding of the need to adapt and modernise to remain relevant, the opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the Order’s future.  

The role is part-time, initially 25 hours a week.

The job holder is required to work in close consultation with the Order’s Chancellor and the Secretary General to: 

• Manage the Order’s honours and awards process, a complex and sensitive set of duties;
• Liaise with external stakeholders including the Royal family, the Order’s senior leadership (including the leadership of the Order’s Priories, Commanderies and St John Associations around the world) and the four other recognised orders of St John to promote and protect the Order of St John;
•  Provide advice and guidance to St John Priories, Commanderies and Associations on honours and awards, genealogy and ceremonial matters.
• Assist St John Establishments in designing and delivering ceremonial events;

The Service Manager will be responsible for the operations of one service in Berkshire (Slough) which supports one individual to live in his own home.

The individual is a sociable and engaging man with a warm sense of humour and a deep appreciation for nature, music, and familiar company. He lives with a diagnosis of moderate learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, psychotic illness, epilepsy, and type 2 diabetes, all of which require thoughtful and consistent support. The customer has been living successfully in his current placement for over ten years, where he benefits from the continuity of staff who know him well, understand his routines, and help him maintain a sense of safety and autonomy.

The role will provide line management for a team of seven Specialist Behaviour Support Workers, ensuring that compliance with organisational, legal regulations and those of the local authority are adhered to and the quality of support is of the highest standard possible, ensuring excellent quality of life for the customer and a good working environment for colleagues.

The service has received a CQC rating of Good. The current team size includes 5 FTEs (Specialist Behaviour Support Workers) plus 2 FTEs Waking Night Support Workers, ensuring comprehensive support coverage across all shifts.

Amy Garvey House is a low support Learning Disabilities service, situated in the delightful Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It comprises 11 self-contained flats offering accommodation to both male and female residents. As a low-need service, the role involves supporting customers in developing essential life skills. Support workers collaborate with residents to foster social inclusion and, together with the team, promote independent living. They encourage residents to enhance their skills and make informed choices to improve their quality of life.

The shift pattern for this role is comprised of Early shifts 8am-4pm and Late shifts 2pm-10pm, and occasional weekend shifts when necessary.

Responsibilities may also involve providing 1:1 support to customers during specific times.
