Main duties:

• To identify and research themes for each issue, sourcing and managing contributors to ensure the magazine has a clear, consistent, relevant and interesting voice to the readership.
• To lead on planning, sourcing contributors, writing and managing content of Under 5 magazine, 10 issues produced every year
• To liaise with Communications and External Affairs colleagues to ensure that corporate partnership publicity, advertorial, editorial and competition deals are delivered to meet terms of contra deals in relevant issues of Under 5.
• To write, edit and upload regular online news stories for selected digital communication including planning, writing and managing content for the fortnightly Under 5 e-newsletter.

Essential criteria:

• Proven experience of working on magazine in an editorial role with an ability to lead on commissioning, writing, sub-editing and proofing professional copy.
• Excellent journalistic writing skills, with the ability to write concise and accurate news copy.
• Clear understanding and practical experience of managing magazine print and production processes
• Strong interpersonal skills with direct experience of managing internal and external suppliers, journalists, production staff, advertisers and contributors.
• Strong creative and written skills with an ability to produce clear, accurate and interesting copy tailored for different audiences.

Swarthmoor Hall in Ulverston is a place of international significance as the birth of the Quaker movement in 1652.  It now comprises the historic Hall as a visitor attraction with gardens, a busy café and shop, on site holiday accommodation and facilities for the local community.  Swarthmoor Hall has lots to offer local visitors and tourists and it is a great place to work with an excellent team. 

We have plans to develop the attraction further in 2026, and this along with increasing visitor numbers means we need some new staff. The site is currently open on Wednesday to Friday as well as on some weekend and bank holidays; in 2026 this will move to being open on Wednesday to Saturday.

We are looking for a new Hospitality/Commercial Supervisor covering the cafe and shop. The duties and the hours are outlined below, but there is flexibility for the right person.

You’ll be a motivated and flexible person, confident in running all aspects of a small café and/or retail site.  You will be confident, friendly and a strong team player, able to work alone and with others and able to supervise some staff and volunteers.

About the role:

A new and exciting role has arisen within our HR team as HR Manager to lead and execute day-to-day HR operations. You will support a team of HR Coordinators to ensure that every stage of the employee lifecycle is handled efficiently and accurately, in accordance with legislation, organisational policies, and best practice.

As part of the role, you will maintain consistency, quality, timeliness, and precision across all HR (including Recruitment) administration and employee relations work. In addition to leading HR operations, you will also serve as a business partner: advising and supporting managers in allocated parts of the organisation, diagnosing operational people issues, and helping to put in place practical, effective solutions, whilst supporting them in delivery of their people strategies.

What you will be doing:

• Lead, manage, coach, and allocate tasks to HR Coordinators; oversee daily workload and priorities, ensuring quality standards are maintained 

• Lead annual reviews of HR operational processes, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance service standards and efficiency. 

• Own the HR operational risk register, proactively identifying risks and supporting mitigation strategies.

• Demonstratable understanding of UK employment law and statutory HR compliance with experience of business partnering.

The CAS Community Food Partnership is intended to support Food Projects (i.e., Foodbanks, Food Pantries, Top Up Shops, & Community Fridges to name a few) with capacity building and diversifying their operations – enabling them to support their communities and users, with overcoming challenges related to food and income insecurity. The project delivers activities across the county, with each Officer acting as a dedicated point of contact for each district. Activities range from supporting awareness raising of local services (i.e., Healthy Start, Affordable Food information, Cooking Projects) through social media channels to supporting Food Projects to become more resilient, including looking at their food supply chain and supporting the development of innovative solutions.

As the Community Food Partnership Manager you will provide strategic direction, and management to a team of four, and work with partners to ensure the outcomes of the project are met. You will have a good level of knowledge of infrastructure/capacity building support and be an experienced Manager of people. You should have an awareness and understanding of the challenges facing the voluntary sector and be skilled at developing partnerships, be able to demonstrate sound financial acumen, and the ability to navigate multiple priorities.

Job Purpose:

The postholder administers all day-to-day activities within People Services and is responsible for the accurate, timely administration of all people-related data throughout the employee lifecycle from recruitment to retirement. Our client has been the artistic heart and soul of Highland Perthshire, attracting over 100,000 visitors every year. The Prospect Research and Operations Manager will strength the organisation’s fundraising infrastructure by managing prospect research, pipeline development, data management, and operational delivery across all income streams. This Manager will be responsible for leading on the reporting on moves management and informing the wider Development team of giving trends. Reporting to the Director of Development, you will create templates and systems to aid efficiency of processes and assist colleagues to successfully cultivate and steward major donors.

The selected candidate will have proven experience in prospect research, experience in managing systems and pipelines to create insight and will have the proven ability to analyse, interpret and present data clearly. You will ideally have experience in a performing arts or cultural setting and will have knowledge fundraising trends and practice across various income streams.

Job Context

The Senior Manager- HR, Operations, and IT plays a key role in supporting Lepra’s people, systems, and governance functions. Working within a small and collaborative UK team, the postholder leads HR operations and organisational administration. The role combines hands-on delivery with advisory support, ensuring compliance with employment law and internal governance standards, and contributing to the efficient running of the organisation.

Job Purpose

The Senior Manager – HR, Operations, and IT provide functional leadership across human resources, operational management, and information systems. The postholder ensures that Lepra’s people, processes, and infrastructure enable a high-performing, inclusive, and compliant organisation.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, this role provides support on HR strategy and governance, supports organisational operations, and provides leadership for IT and data management functions.

Working with all of Lepra UK on all matters regarding HR, Operations and IT.

Will liaise across all Lepra staff, particularly those in management roles, in accordance with their staff and volunteer roles.

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional advice and guidance to senior management and staff on people, compliance, and systems matters.

Support the Director of Finance and Operations in ensuring sound governance, risk management, and organisational resilience.

Oversee key internal processes that underpin organisational effectiveness, including performance, policy, and data management.

Support health and safety compliance within the organisation.

Provide executive and administrative support to the Senior Management Team, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking

Support the Director of Finance and Operations in ensuring good governance practices and compliance with charity and employment regulations.

Coordinate Trustee and Board-related administration as required.

Contribute to operational efficiency by supporting the implementation of improved systems and processes.

2. Human Resources and People Development

Ensure HR policies, frameworks, and practices promote fairness, inclusion, and staff wellbeing.

Lead on workforce planning, recruitment, and providing support on retention strategies.

Support professional development, performance management, and engagement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with employment law and uphold best practice in employee relations and safeguarding.

3. Operations and Governance

 Oversee office management, facilities, and supplier relationships to maintain effective operations.

 Support Board and Committee administration, including minute taking.

 Lead the review and implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.

Contribute to the development of a collaborative, transparent organisational culture.

4. IT and Data Management

Provide oversight and strategic support to the IT and Data Officer.

Ensure secure, efficient, and user-focused IT systems are in place.

Support the organisation’s data governance framework, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data protection legislation.

Drive continuous improvement in digital systems to enhance operational effectiveness and reporting capability.

The role is likely to suit someone with experience of taking overall accountability for delivery of research and evaluation projects.
