No one should feel alone when diagnosed with primary bone cancer. The Bone Cancer Research Trust strives to provide a supportive network for all primary bone cancer patients to limit their feelings of isolation and anxiety. Given the rarity of the disease, patients can often go through their entire treatment and recovery without meeting another patient, so external support is vital.

Over the last 4 years, our Support & Information Service has seen significant growth, and developed to become a leading source of support for patients, family members, siblings and friends of patients.  Our Support & Information team provide enduring support and ensure that this can be accessed at any point in a primary bone cancer journey and by anyone affected.

Our aim is to increase the reach of the service further, ensuring that all patients diagnosed in the UK have the opportunity to access our Support & Information Service.  The Support & Information Officer will play a pivatol role in achieving this through building lasting relationships with both patients and families and healthcare professionals.

They will assist in all aspects of the Bone Cancer Research Trust's Support & Information Service, including the organisation and delivery of  virtual support groups, the administration of the Charity's financial grants, the distribution of information resources and the administration of our digital groups. They will also have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of our regional in-person ‘Get-Togethers’, which bring the primary bone cancer community together to gain peer to peer support.The successful candidate will also play an important role in the continuous development of the Service, ensuring that impact is measured and feedback is acted upon.

Totleigh Barton, the first ever Arvon writing house, is a 16th-century manor house in one of the most peaceful and idyllic parts of Devon. The Director will ensure that all aspects of Totleigh Barton are managed to the highest possible standard, overseeing the smooth running of Arvon's courses and retreats, while also holding ultimate responsibility for the upkeep of the buildings and facilities. This role is key to providing a welcoming and hospitable environment for a regularly changing cohort of guests and school groups who arrive every week for up to 40 weeks per year. It is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, providing a uniquely creative environment in a national charity praised for its outstanding artistic programme. This is a three-day per week role.

Salary: £45,000 - £47,000 per annum, plus benefits

We are seeking a Science and Policy Project Manager who will provide project management support across the science and policy departments for the core programmes and for cross cutting activities such as conferences and communications. You will report to the Director of Research, Policy and Innovation with the delivery of the science and policy strategies. You will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Research and Policy and there will also be interaction and communication with the Heads of Research Funding, Research Interpretation and Policy and Public Affairs as well as other colleagues in the network countries. 

You will be educated to MSc level in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology or closely related field and have experience working in a research/public health setting and developing scientific/policy reports, summaries and presentations. You will have proven scientific project management skills with experience in monitoring progress, performance reporting and delivering projects on time and budget. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment, and with stakeholders at all levels.

About the Role

• We are seeking a proactive, experienced professional who will work with the CEO to drive the implementation of our People and Culture strategy across the charity;
• You will work with the Leadership Team to develop a consistent, healthy working culture supporting a thriving, ambitious charity;
• You will ensure use of our planning system across the charity, which links strategy with the role of each staff member;
• You will manage a small HR and Governance team and provide practical support to managers including employment relations issues;
• We are looking for someone with experience of contemporary psychological approaches in the workplace as well as a strong interest in embedding equality, diversity and inclusion.
• This role will suit someone with strong experience as a People and Culture Business Partner or manager in a charity or similar, with the aptitude to flex to a wide range of tasks and the ability to manage a small team.
