Purpose of the Role
To bring senior-level fundraising expertise to the Board of Trustees, advising and supporting Momentum’s income generation strategies and providing constructive challenge and oversight of the charity’s fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities
§ Provide expert advice, guidance and strategic input to the Board and senior leadership on all aspects of fundraising.
§ Support the ongoing development of Momentum’s multi-stream fundraising strategy (including major donors, corporate partnerships, trusts & foundations, events, community fundraising, legacies, and digital fundraising).
§ Monitor fundraising performance against targets and ensure fundraising activities remain compliant with relevant regulations (Fundraising Regulator, Charity Commission, GDPR, etc).
§ Act as a mentor and sounding board to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement and CEO.
§ Contribute ideas and insights to help the charity identify new opportunities for sustainable income growth.
§ Where appropriate, assist with the stewardship of key supporters or donors.
§ Fulfil all general trustee duties, including attending Board meetings, contributing to governance and strategic decision-making, and upholding the charity’s values and safeguarding responsibilities.

Military Wives Choirs connect over 1700 women in the military community and create a support network through the power of singing. Our Data and Technology Trustee will contribute strategic advice on how MWC manage their technology and data to be compliant, minimise risks to the organisation and to keep up to date with, and take advantage of, developments in a way that recognises the budget and the scale of the organisation. Working closely with the Choir Support Team, they will support the long-term sustainability of the charity by providing strategic direction for their data and technology assets and initiatives. The Trustee will have experience in a broad range of technology leadership roles, understanding of IT procurement, an ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels and able to advise the Board on how it could make ethical use of AI with appropriate safeguards. The Trustee will attend four Board meetings a year - three are virtual and one, usually in the autumn, is in person. They will also be required to attend a Board Awayday in January each year, usually in London and attend a Governance Committee meeting, virtually, each quarter. The Trans Learning Partnership (TLP) is in the process of evolving into a new, independent charity: the Trans Research Partnership (TRP). This transition will be completed by the end of 2025. As part of this transition, we’re recruiting up to five founding trustees to help shape the future of TRP.
TRP will be a trans-led research charity that centres trans voices and produces rigorous, community-led research to inform policy, practice, and public understanding. Our values include trans leadership, intersectional justice, ethical rigour, collaboration, safety, autonomy, imagination, and hope.
We’re looking for people who:
- Are committed to trans liberation and TRP’s mission
- Can contribute time and skills to setting up a new charity
- Bring experience in governance, research, fundraising, equity, or community organising
We especially welcome applications from the global majority, those with working-class backgrounds, and others underrepresented in charity leadership.
Time commitment: ~1–2 days/month. Meetings are remote-first. Expenses reimbursed. Training and mentorship provided.
