About Rockinghorse Children’s Charity
Rockinghorse Children’s Charity supports children across Sussex. We support babies, children, young people and their families at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit in Brighton and all of the specialist children’s wards and baby units throughout Sussex.
We deliver and fund projects that enable doctors, nurses and other health professionals to do more. All of projects are led by the needs of children and young people and their families. This includes lifesaving medical equipment, support for parents and families, toys for children spending time in hospitals across Sussex, the environments and spaces that help children feel more at home when they are in hospital and additional staff to make sure children get the best possible care when they are unwell.
Originally set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann, we have been supporting children for more than 55 years. In that time, we have supported nearly a million children and their families. As the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, including the Trevor Mann Baby Unit, we work with the NHS, charity partners and the Sussex community to ensure children can be children no matter how unwell they are.
We do not receive any government, statutory or local authority funding and so we rely on the generous support of individuals, community groups, companies and trusts: people like you, who care about children and want Sussex to be a safe place for children to grow up.
About the role
In 2022 we launched our three-year strategic plan, which prioritised our activities to enable us to support more babies, children and teenagers. As we enter the final year of this strategy the charity continues to expand and develop its projects and services for sick and disabled children all over Sussex:
We are thrilled to embark on an exciting new project, the Rockinghorse Wellbeing Service, designed to proactively enhance the mental health and well-being of hundreds of children, young people, and families living in Sussex. This innovative service will be situated at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton.
The Wellbeing Service Manager will be responsible for delivering certain activities based on their skills and experience, collaborating with third-party providers and volunteers for others. This may involve bedside activities to improve the experience of in-patients, as well as group activities within the hospital or out in the community.
Each activity will undergo careful planning and evaluation, incorporating the voices and perspectives of young people. This approach ensures that we provide the most impactful activities to meet their needs.
Our primary goal is to support children and young people managing various illnesses, conditions, and disabilities through activities that alleviate stress and foster connections with others undergoing similar experiences.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Wellbeing Service Manager to join our team and take the lead on this new service. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in elevating the overall wellbeing of our young patients. The position involves coordinating and implementing a diverse range of wellbeing activities and programs focused on fostering a positive and supportive environment within the hospital.
This role is part of the Projects & Operations team, one of three teams within the charity, alongside the Supporter Engagement team and the Communications team.
Duties of the role
Develop and Implement the Wellbeing Service
· The Wellbeing Service Manager will form part of a steering committee of senior and experienced NHS staff who are helping to develop and shape the service.
· Design and execute engaging wellbeing programs tailored to the unique needs of children, their families, and hospital staff.
· Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to integrate wellbeing activities into the overall care plan for paediatric patients.
· Demonstrate proficiency in leading consultations, developing comprehensive plans, and monitoring progress against established goals.
· Work collaboratively with Rockinghorse and the hospital's volunteering service to facilitate meaningful engagements for children and young people, as well as provide appropriate signposting to other services when needed.
Coordinate Events and Activities
· Organise and oversee events, workshops, and recreational activities that promote mental, emotional, and physical wellness.
· Ensure activities are inclusive, age-appropriate and delivered in a way that is trauma informed and enhances wellbeing.
· Develop and manage a database of wellbeing activities to support service delivery and to scrutinise the wellbeing value of each activity as part of our impact and evaluation of activities.
· Ensure compliance with appropriate policies and procedures in line with legislative and regulatory requirements, adhering to best practices in all activities, and working within established frameworks related to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional practice.
Community Engagement
· Foster partnerships with local organisations, volunteers, and community resources to expand the reach and impact of wellbeing initiatives.
· Develop and maintain relationships with external partners to enhance the support network available to children and their families.
Individual Sessions
· Provide support to children, young people, and families managing various illnesses, conditions, and disabilities, utilising activities that alleviate stress and encourage connections with peers.
· Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address specific wellbeing needs of individual patients.
· Take the lead on child protection measures.
Training and Education
· Support the continued professional development of your team and lead them in a solution focussed way to identify and shape areas of improvement for the project.
· Conduct training sessions for hospital staff on incorporating wellbeing principles into their roles and interactions with patients.
· Create educational materials and resources to promote wellbeing awareness and practices.
Monitoring and Evaluation
· Support the development of a Theory of Change and an evaluation model/framework for the wellbeing programme.
· Establish metrics (outputs, outcomes and impact) to assess the effectiveness of wellbeing programs and activities (against the TOC and evaluation framework).
· Gather qualitative and qualitative feedback from patients, families, and staff to continuously improve and tailor future initiatives.
Documentation and Reporting
· Maintain accurate records of wellbeing activities, participation, and outcomes.
· Prepare regular reports highlighting the impact and success of wellbeing programs.
· You will assist Rockinghorse colleagues in providing information for marketing purposes, informing funding applications, providing support for funder visits to the service and any other duties appropriate to the role and in line with the needs of the charity.
Person specification
Essential experience, skills and knowledge for the role:
1. Qualified in a relevant area (eg youth work, social work, nursing, counselling, mental health) or with equivalent professional experience.
2. Experience of working with children and young people and delivering group sessions and activities for young people, using non-clinical interventions to support positive outcomes.

As a Community Shop Manager for St Giles Hospice you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. Your role will be to further develop and deliver a range of events and initiatives that the Harlequins Foundation offers to its supporters to help us to raise the funds we need to deliver our programmes. As the charitable arm of the Club, we deliver a variety of programmes aimed at achieving improved outcomes for education and employability, wellbeing and inclusion. The role will play a key part in delivering high-profile fundraising events while building the Foundation’s engagement with different communities and supporter types, being instrumental in delivering campaigns and events to engage new audiences with the Foundation’s purpose.
As a proactive and enthusiastic person, you'll need to be adept at managing multiple projects and events concurrently. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Engagement and within a small Fundraising team, the successful applicant will be responsible for delivering events from Harlequins matchday activations to Foundation fundraising events.

As the Fundraising Partnerships Manager you will be responsible for delivering and managing strategic partnerships between corporate partners and the Harlequins Foundation, building strong relationships with a focus on maximising income and raising awareness of the Foundation’s purpose.
The Harlequins Foundation is the charitable arm of the Club, delivering programmes in our communities that primarily support young people to develop the Essential Skills, enabling success on and off the pitch.
This is an incredible opportunity for a corporate fundraising professional with an excellent grasp of working across all aspects of partnership management to make a difference with our impactful organisation. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Engagement and within a small Fundraising team, your focus will be on identifying and securing long-term, strategic partnerships with a variety of organisations as well as building on and maintaining those already in place.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the thriving and dynamic SARSAS team as our Fundraising Manager.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to help SARSAS realise it’s vision of a world without sexual violence, through our ambitious strategy to extend our preventive programmes and maintain our essential high-quality services. Through developing and expanding income generated through trust and grants, corporate giving and individual giving, you will help us to be part of the systems change to end gender-based violence.
You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and team leads to understand funding priorities, identify potential funders and donors and develop compelling funding bids, proposals and appeals. This will include collaboration to develop partnership proposals.
You will undertake new prospect research and develop and nurture excellent donor relationships. You will seek opportunities to strengthen and build on existing and lapsed funding relationships and be proactive about identifying further development opportunities.
In order to realise our ambitions, we need to extend our programme of fundraising growth, so we can increase our annual income from circa £3 million to in excess of £3.5 million.
About you
Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, corporate partners and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll bring our cause to life and building lasting funder and donor relationships, leading the drive for new donor engagement and securing sustainable, multi-year funding.
Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with corporate partners, individuals and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. Key responsibilities
Fundraising delivery and development
- Develop, monitor and manage a fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess of £500k per annum, establishing a fundraising pipeline and a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
- Set up and manage clear planning processes to prepare funding applications, providing clear guidance to colleagues and external partners, which supports effective collaboration, and ensures the submission of high-quality bids, on time.
- Work with and support external consultants and colleagues to help secure fundraising partnerships and income from grant giving trusts and foundations.
- Write high quality, well-written persuasive and compelling funding applications to secure grant funding.
- Support the Corporate Partnerships Lead to develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding and partnership proposals that can successfully engage corporate partners and align with their needs, motivations, areas of interests and values.
- Develop the SARSAS Individual Giving Strategy and support the FunComms Administrator and wider Comms team to design and deliver excellent, engaging and regular communications and powerful fundraising appeals alongside establishing the associated data and systems to grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations.
- Keep up-to-date and accurate records of fundraising activities and provide quarterly updates to the senior leadership team.
Relationship management and stewardship
- With colleagues, undertake market research and funding insight to identify new prospects and grow our income and pool of supporters.
- Identify and broker relationships with key funders capable of funding against our fundraising priorities, providing high-quality relationship management, using appropriate communication tools and channels to maintain relationships with key individuals and organisations.
- Design and implement generic and bespoke stewardship plans for our current network of donors, working closely with the Communications Team on the development of mailings, reports, and events as necessary.
- Provide advice and support, as necessary, for staff who serve as primary contacts for funders/donors, to ensure that relationships are maintained to a high standard.
- Build strong relationships across SARSAS and work with teams in an integrative way to achieve organisational ambitions.
Planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Working closely with the SLT and relevant managers, develop a funding pipeline, which aligns across all programmes, and collaborate on quarterly update reports for the Board of Trustees and the Finance, Risk & HR Sub-Committee.
- Support SLT/ team leads to define fundraising priorities, ensuring that resources are deployed in a timely, and proportionate manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to evidence the impact of fundraising activities, including raised income, donor acquisition, donor retention, return on investment, donor engagement metrics, and our fundraising growth rate.
- Oversee full implementation of Donorfy system for fundraising
- Provide high-quality monitoring and evaluation reports.
Staff management
- Provide leadership for your team, inspiring and motivating staff, freelancers and volunteers, setting KPIs, reviewing and improving performance, ensuring fundraising meets/exceeds targets.
- Provide and/or oversee line management of team members, ensuring that professional standards are maintained, and staff wellbeing is supported.

- Lead the team to develop and deliver cultivation and stewardship programmes for partners with clear growth targets
- Lead Corporate Fundraising representation across the organisation, to deliver projects and build new opportunities to help the FareShare deliver on its strategy.

- In collaboration with FareShare’s Operations Team ensure accurate monitoring and project progress on restricted funding.

- Work with the Senior Managers across fundraising to maximise cross selling opportunities, from employees to Major Donor prospects.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience of delivering six-figure partnerships at scale in either a charity or commercial environment
- Experience of providing excellent relationship management and stewardship resulting in increased levels of financial support from partners
- Experience of managing multi-faceted strategic partnerships that deliver both financial and non-financial impact to an organisation
- Experience of using data and insight to inform business planning and decision making
- Ability to develop strategy and translate into an operational delivery plan
- Experience of leading a team and people management
- Target driven, proactive and creative in meeting the needs of complex multi-faceted partners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability influence and negotiate at all levels internally and externally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex and compelling funding proposals
- Exceptional project management skills, capable of leading the delivery of multiple complex projects on time and to budget
- Proven experience of financial forecasting and managing financial risks and opportunities
- Experience of working in a third sector environment

Role Definition
The Development Department is responsible for securing revenue and project income from funding sources including individuals, businesses, trusts and statutory organisations to support the Theatre and its work. In addition, the team is embarking on a multimillion-pound capital fundraising campaign to completely refurbish its auditorium and build a new 200-seat second space within the existing building.
The Membership Manager’s key responsibilities are to increase income through our Supporters’ Circle membership scheme, manage relationships and the delivery of benefits to our Corporate Partners, and provide exceptional technical, organisation and administration skills to support the work of the department. You will play a significant role in a small, dedicated team at an exciting time in the Theatre’s history.

About the role
We have a new and worthwhile opportunity as a Project Manager to join the delivery team to increase the impact of our behaviour change work in schools across Wales. You will be working to create a culture that makes it easier for children to walk, wheel, scoot, or cycle.
You will provide project management for 'Active Journeys’, involving effective line management and coordination of a project team of School Officers that deliver behavioural change activities.
As the Project Manager you will lead in the development of educational resources, supporting the integration of active travel activities in schools. You will also support with organising key events and workshops that showcase Active Travel Schools best practice.
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans. Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to the nominated hub/office base in Cardiff.
