About the role:
As our Operations and Programme Support Executive, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our Operations and Programmes team running smoothly. From managing enquiries to supporting projects and events, your contribution will help us deliver our mission effectively and inclusively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing responsive, professional support to customers and stakeholders.
- Coordinating project administration and logistics for key initiatives.
- Assisting with digital product support, including app-related queries and liaising with external agencies.
- Collecting and reporting feedback to help us continuously improve.
- Offering general administrative support, from scheduling meetings to processing invoices.

In Spring 2028, the National Gallery will launch a new, public-facing Research Centre to facilitate and showcase our world-leading research in the history and science of painting. In this varied role you will be responsible for the day to day running of the UK Apparel and General Merchandise programme, provide developmental input and support the implementation of the key recent developments in the programme, as well as ensuring the programme maintains its integrity. The Role
We are currently looking for a Deputy Superstore Manager to join our Retail, Services and Operations team to launch and manage our new Superstore in York.
As Deputy Superstore Manager, you will support the launch and daily management of our new York Superstore, working closely with the Superstore Manager and stepping in during their absence. You will manage a large and varied team, including Department Team Leaders, Superstore Assistants, and volunteers. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate accounting and asset management, delivering excellent customer service, and upholding all charity policies and procedures.
You will lead by example and ensure that employees, volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond.
You will need to be committed to creating a welcoming professional atmosphere and demonstrating the values of Yorkshire Cancer Research. You will also be a passionate and enthusiastic ambassador for the charity and its work.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:

Leading on visual merchandising and display to create a welcoming and inspiring shopping experience that reflects our brand and values.

Ensuring efficient stock management and generation, so our shop floor is full of high-quality, desirable items that attract customers.

Maintaining impeccable shop standards and ensuring the store layout supports both customer engagement and operational efficiency.

Supporting all aspects of store operations, including opening and closing procedures.

Supporting the Superstore Manager in implementing and complying with agreed shop operating policy and standards including Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

Building relationships and working closely with wider functions across the charity such as Facilities, Marketing, Volunteer, and social media teams to ensure the plans are fulfilled and executed.

Assist the management of effective stockroom systems to ensure smooth processing and redistribution of donations, including identifying high-value or surplus stock for resale through online marketplaces or other Yorkshire Cancer Research stores.

Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Assisting in meeting the Superstore’s financial targets by helping to maximise sales, manage costs effectively, and ensure the shop operates profitably.

Engaging with the local community and businesses to secure donations, build partnerships, and promote the charity.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be educated to A Level or equivalent or have experience in a similar role at a similar level.

Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

Experience of successfully managing, motivating, and supporting large, varied teams, fostering a culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute their best.

Experience of exceeding targets within a retail environment.

The ability to take full accountability for the financial performance of a retail operation, with a keen eye for opportunities to maximise income and efficiency.

Experience of handling large volumes of stock and maintaining high standards, even in fast-paced situations.

To be comfortable with digital systems and able to quickly adapt to new systems, processes, and tools to support the smooth running of operations.

The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that strengthens the capacity of the Global South to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that the Global South should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for over a decade, and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim.
This is a unique opportunity to inform conversations on SRM in Africa. Rather than lobbying for outcomes, Degrees aims to support informed, independent policymaking by fostering connections between researchers and policymakers and strengthening institutional expertise. Degrees promotes regional research, creates spaces for policy-science dialogue, and supports the dissemination of Global South research.
Responsibilities
The Policy and Engagement Manager, Africa will strengthen the voice of the Global South in discussions and potential negotiations on SRM research and governance with relevance to Africa by connecting experts to policy processes. Accordingly, the successful candidate will:
- Identify and engage key policy actors (e.g. national delegates and legislators, scientific advisors, intergovernmental officials) in Africa, connecting them to local SRM experts and providing them with information, where appropriate, while remaining neutral regarding the potential use and governance of SRM;
- Work with SRM researchers from the region to support the ongoing development of a coordinated community of experts;
- Build informal and formal partnerships with like-minded organisations, helping to inform discussions and counter misinformation about climate and SRM.
- Share expertise and experience gained from Africa with staff and researchers and participate, as appropriate, in activities in Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean to gain similar expertise;
- Identify the most impactful international forums and regional SRM discussions, and work to connect local experts into these;
- Identify a core group of researchers interested in policy engagement, and facilitate and join their participation in governance fora such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UNFCCC COP, UN Environment Assembly, and meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity;
- Support the execution and coordination of the Degrees policy engagement strategy in collaboration with other policy and programmatic staff;
- Contribute to budgeting and alignment with programmes;
- Support monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities by contributing to tracking, documentation, and reporting of policy engagement outcomes;
- In cooperation with the communications staff, ensure the development of clear, contextualised briefing materials for policy makers and other audiences.

The role
Warm Wales is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Fundraising Manager to play a key role in supporting our ambitions. You will lead income generation efforts for our forward-thinking charity. You will be responsible for identifying new sources of income and building strong relationships with new supporters. This post is central to generating external income through the development and submission of high-quality grant applications and contract proposals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
General Income Generation
• Co-produce annual philanthropy and fundraising targets and take the lead responsibility to instigate and co-ordinate the activity that will achieve them.
• Develop a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio of individual giving, corporate, community, events, legacies and timely appeals
• Develop and manage campaigns activities that jointly raise funds and awareness of the charity
• Generate progress reports for the CEO and Board regularly, proactively identifying progress against expectations.
• Oversee the development of effective donor journey plans to ensure excellent stewardship, engagement and retention of donors
• Build long-lasting relationships with key philanthropists, donors, and funders.
• Work proactively with colleagues to research, identify and scope a portfolio of compelling projects and proposals that will appeal to donors and funders.
• Work with colleagues to identify and source sustainable income streams for fundable elements of core, project, and community engagement activities.
• Work closely with communication colleagues to develop appropriate communications campaigns and activities for different supporter groups.

Grants and Foundations
• Build and maintain relationships with key representatives of trusts, foundations and other funding bodies to increase their awareness and understanding of Warm Wales.

• Review funder requirements and ensure timely, compliant submissions
• Lead on funding applications and bids, working with the wider team to develop competitive bids

Corporate Partnerships
• Understand the motivations that encourage companies to give, and the importance of strong stewardship
• Focus on identification of and engagement of new corporate partnerships to increase income.
