Location	RMC operates four branches located in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Walsall, and Dudley. The successful candidate will be based at the Birmingham, or Wolverhampton site and will be required to travel to all branches as needed. This is an in-person, on-site role with no hybrid or remote work options available

About the Role

The Refugee and Migrant Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our Resettlement Department. As part of our mission to assist refugees and migrants in overcoming barriers to integration, this role will play a key part in helping newly arrived refugees settle into their new communities with confidence and independence.

RMC is a well-established charity with over 25 years of experience working with vulnerable refugees and migrants. We provide a range of services, including immigration advice, housing support, welfare assistance, and employment guidance. Our work ensures that refugees and migrants receive the necessary support to become equal citizens in the UK.

Purpose of the Role

The Family Support Worker will support newly arrived refugees and their families, enabling them to navigate the complex challenges of settling into the UK. Working closely with our multi-skilled resettlement team, you will deliver holistic support to refugees across a range of services, including welfare benefits, housing, health, education, and employment. You will also play a key role in empowering families to build their confidence, independence, and long-term integration into the community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Client Support & Case Management:

• Manage a caseload of newly arrived refugee families, providing tailored support to meet their specific needs.
• Conduct home visits and orientation sessions to welcome clients to their new community and complete holistic needs assessments.
• Develop Personal Integration Plans for each household on a quarterly basis, helping them set goals for long-term independence.
• Coordinate support with external agencies and specialists to address clients’ needs, ensuring seamless service delivery.
• Support families with housing, welfare benefits, education, healthcare, and employment.
• Assist with registration for healthcare services (GPs, dentists, opticians) and support with medical assessments.
• Facilitate access to education for children and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for adults.
• Provide guidance on immigration matters and ensure the correct paperwork is in place, including registering for Biometric Residence Cards and supporting welfare benefit applications.
• Ensure clients are financially supported by applying for relevant welfare benefits and assisting with mandatory reconsiderations as required.

Integration & Independence:

• Help clients develop the skills and knowledge to achieve independence, focusing on self-sufficiency and integration into the local community.
• Support families in securing suitable accommodation, liaising with landlords, housing providers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Provide ongoing orientation on UK systems, including financial rights and responsibilities, social services, and community resources.
• Encourage social integration by organising outings and community events to foster connections with local services and other refugees.

Partnership Working & Community Engagement:

• Work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that refugees have access to the services and support they need.
• Act as the lead contact for other agencies involved in supporting your clients, ensuring a collaborative approach to case management.
• Promote the long-term integration of refugees by identifying and facilitating opportunities for engagement with mainstream services.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and case progress, ensuring compliance with organisational policies.
• Provide written reports and case updates as required by the Resettlement Coordinator and Manager.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of services based on monitoring and evaluation feedback.

General Responsibilities:

• Provide feedback and suggestions for service improvements to ensure the best outcomes for refugees and migrants.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly refugees or migrants.
• Strong understanding of the challenge’s refugees faces during resettlement and integration.
• Proven ability to manage a caseload and create detailed support plans.
• Experience in working with external agencies and coordinating services for clients.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with refugees, stakeholders, and service providers.
• Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with a person-centred approach.
• Knowledge of UK welfare benefits, housing rights, and immigration services.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and use IT systems to document casework.
• Cultural competence and a commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
• Ability to work flexibly and independently, including delivering outreach services.
• Fluent in Farsi/Pashto and English.

Desirable:

• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting volunteers to achieve client outcomes.
• Knowledge of community languages (particularly relevant to refugee populations) would be advantageous.
• Experience in delivering outreach support to families in their homes and community settings.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.

The post holder may be required to undertake duties not specifically listed above, provided they fall within the scope of the role and are appropriate to the pay grade. This role involves regular travel within the region, so we are ideally looking for someone based in or near the area. You will work with clients or from the office 3 days per week, with 2 days available to work from home. As an Admiral Nurse, your role will be pivotal in providing expert nursing support to carers, helping them navigate the complexities of dementia care. You will offer emotional and psychological interventions to alleviate the challenges of caregiving, especially at the early stages of diagnosis or pre-diagnosis, and continue supporting carers through the various stages of dementia, focusing on transitions, loss, and shifting relationships.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of clients, conducting home visits to assess their needs and wellbeing, and develop individual intervention plans. You will empower carers by helping them build the skills and confidence needed to support someone with dementia, especially as behaviours change over time. Your work will ensure they can provide better care while also protecting their own mental and emotional health.

Beyond direct care, you will contribute to the continuous development of the service, assisting with the evaluation and improvement of dementia care practices. You will offer clinical guidance to colleagues and external agencies, providing training and educational resources to enhance the quality of care across the board.

About the Role

Our Communications Assistant will amplify all the great things the Foundation does. They will be responsible for JPF’s youth-focused social media channels (Instagram, TikTok etc.), creating marketing material focused on inspiring and motivating young people to engage with the Foundation, and our community development. You will need to champion young people, ensure that we are amplifying young people’s voices and providing them with the tools, resources, contacts and services that enable them to achieve great things. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we grow our impact as a Foundation. You will have an opportunity to use and develop your range of project management, design, social media and communication skills in a dynamic team that is committed to maximising our positive impact on young people.

About Your Responsibilities

The Communications Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Communications Team across three areas, as well as supporting a number of other initiatives across the Foundation.

The primary duties are:

Digital Communications and Marketing

• Newsletter Creation: Develop newsletters for young people, collaborating with the Grants Team and our partners to curate engaging and relevant content.

• Promotional Materials: Oversee the design and production of leaflets and brochures aimed at young audiences.

• Website Maintenance: Regularly update the JPF website with blogs, case studies and other content to highlight opportunities and programmes like the Individual Grant for Volunteering or success stories of Achievement Award winners.

• Storytelling: Work with the Communications and Engagement Officer and Events Team to source and share positive news stories of Achievement Award winners in press releases and across our digital channels.

• Press and Outreach: Assisting in drafting press releases and executing outreach campaigns to promote JPF’s work to key networks and to the broader public.

• Event Promotion: Work in partnership with the Events Team to promote attendance at our Achievement Award events through our website and social media platforms.

• Youth Consultation Panel (YCP) Collaboration: Collaborate with JPF's Youth Consultation Panel to create educational and professional development content for the Jack Petchey Alumni Network.

Programme Launches: Work with colleagues across JPF to launch and promote new programmes, grant opportunities and recruitment across our digital channels.

• Competitions and Opportunities: Enhance JPF's youth engagement through creative competitions and development opportunities that celebrate young people’s achievements. 

Content Creation

• Daily Duties: Handle day-to-day scheduling, monitoring and interactions across our youthfocused social media platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok) to maintain audience engagement.

• Campaign Development: Lead the creation of social media campaigns celebrating young people’s achievements and promoting opportunities for young people and grantees to get involved with JPF.

• Content creation: Develop engaging content for social media channels, including sourcing images, creating/editing videos and designing graphics in line with JPF’s branding.

• Video Content: Work with staff and our Youth Consultation Panel to produce more film content for our social media channels.

• Social Media Takeovers: Host social media takeovers with our Youth Consultation Panel to amplify their voices and views.

• Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyse the performance of our social media channels, benchmarking activities against past metrics and producing regular reports for the Communications and Engagement Manager.

• Annual Plan: Contribute to JPF’s annual communications strategy, including devising social media plans, providing recommendations to enhance audience engagement and expand reach.

• Trend monitoring: Stay updated on news and trending topics related to young people and JPF, proactively responding to highlight our opportunities and work.

Community Development 

• Youth consultation Panel (YCP): Work with the JPF team to engage with and support our Youth Consultation Panel to share their opinions and help inform the work of the Foundation.

• Alumni Network: Support the development of the Jack Petchey Alumni Network, a community of past JPF programme graduates, expanding its uptake and planning future events.

• Youth Survey Development: Support the creation, distribution and analysis of JPF’s annual youth surveys.

• Partner Collaboration: Work with the Communications and Engagement Officer to manage our partners to promote their programmes and opportunities to young people.

• Identifying Stakeholders: Collaborate with colleagues on developing JPF’s Patrons and Ambassador’s plan with a focus on young people from the charity’s past as well as social media influencers. 

Other Responsibilities

• Event Representation: Attend key events to capture content and represent JPF as a spokesperson when needed.

• Event Support: Assist in organising and facilitating events and conferences as required.

These duties represent the typical responsibilities associated with this position. However, flexibility is essential and all employees may occasionally be required to undertake additional tasks as directed by JPF.

The Role

Social prescribing link workers will work as a key part of the primary care network (PCN) multi-disciplinary team. Social prescribing can help PCNs to strengthen community and personal resilience and reduces health and wellbeing inequalities by addressing the wider determinants of health, such as debt, poor housing and physical inactivity, by increasing people’s active involvement with their local communities. It particularly works for people with long term conditions (including support for mental health), for people who are lonely or isolated, or have complex social needs which affect their wellbeing.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with direct supervision from the Programme Lead/Senior Link Worker and input from the PCN’s Clinical Lead GP, take referrals from staff in GP practices within the local PCN.
• Provide personalised support to individuals, their families and carers to take control of their health and wellbeing, live independently and improve their health outcomes, as a key member of the PCN multi-disciplinary team.
• Developing trusting relationships and taking a holistic approach, based on the person’s priorities and co-produce a simple personalised care and support plan to improve health and wellbeing, introducing or reconnecting people to community groups and statutory services.
• Work collaboratively with all local partners to contribute towards supporting local community groups and organisations, making themselves aware of local resources and “assets” through mapping and then building a relationship with these organisations.  Also sharing intelligence regarding any gaps or problems identified in local provision with commissioners and local authorities. 
• Social prescribing link workers will work collaboratively with GP’s and have a role in promoting social prescribing and educating non-clinical and clinical staff within their PCN multi-disciplinary teams on the benefits of social prescribing
• Raise awareness of other services available within the community and how and when patients can access them. Linking into the work of Neighbourhood Network Schemes, locality Adult Social Care & Community Mental Health Teams.

About You

As a Social Prescribing Link Worker, you will have a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (Health & Social Care, Health Trainer, Health Improvement, Community Family Worker, Psychology) or be working towards/willing to work towards.

You will have:

• Demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development
• Experience of working directly in a community based context (including unpaid work)
• Experience of supporting people with a mental health need and or complexities/vulnerabilities
• Experience of delivering one to one support
• Experience of partnership/collaborative working and of building relationships across a variety of organisations
• Knowledge of VCSE and community services in the locality
• Understanding of the wider determinants of health, including social, economic and environmental factors and their impact on communities, individuals, their families and carers
• Understanding of the barriers faced by those living in isolation

• Ability to complete paperwork, keep records and carry out own administration
