About the role

Reporting in to the Business Development Lead (MCC), the role of Business Development Manager for the East and Southern Africa region is a key role is being responsible for securing new funding aligned to Christian Aid's strategy and thematic priorities. 

The role will lead business development efforts across the Multi-Country Cluster (MCC) and expand the Institutional funding portfolio and collaborate closely with and strategically advise MCC Head of Impact and Partnership & Impact Funding (PIF) team and MCC teams to develop donor engagement strategies, build funding pipelines, identify new opportunities, and establish partnerships to grow program portfolios. 

The post-holder will strengthen and maintain relationships with government agencies, multilateral organisations, institutional donors, and foundations, working in coordination with MCC Programme Portfolio and Partnership teams.

Some of the main responsibilities and accountabilities of the role are:

• Meet institutional Christian Aid income targets at the MCC level, actively contributing to PIF overall divisional goals.
• Collaborate closely with Head of Impact and Partnership Business Development teams on strategic funding to secure new and grow existing funding by developing donor engagement strategies, growing funding pipelines, identifying new opportunities and establishing partnerships to grow program portfolios. 
• Build and cultivate strategic partnerships with institutional donors, including government bodies, multilateral agencies, and foundations, to expand funding opportunities across the MCC and beyond, in coordination with the Partnership and Business Development team in PIF.
• Build a wide network of contacts and funding relationships across the MCC region with donors, peers, consortia partners and implementing agencies.
• Develop high-quality funding proposals coordinating with Impact department, partners, donors and the relevant donor audience unit in Partnerships and Impact Funding, ensuring alignment with thematic priorities, signature programmes and donor requirements.
• Work closely with the MCC Contracts and Portfolio Manager to ensure seamless integration with MCC delivery teams.
• Supervise the onboarding of new programs, ensuring seamless integration with MCC delivery teams.
• Work closely with the MCC Contracts and Portfolio Manager to maintain compliance and accountability, reviewing reporting for quality assurance.

About you

Who we are looking for:

Essential

• Proven track record in securing multiple multi-million-pound grants for NGOs.
• Substantial experience in building and cultivating strategic donor partnerships including engagement at global, regional and country mission levels with senior stakeholders and demonstrable experience of engaging with private sector, foundations, government and multi-lateral donors.
• Proven track record of developing multi-million pound budgets.
• Advanced knowledge of donor funding landscape and emerging trends.
• Substantial expertise in leading multi-discipline bid teams for grant and commercial agreements.
• Substantial expertise and experience in project design, monitoring and evaluation tools and developing grant budgets.
• Substantial background in humanitarian programming and working with humanitarian donors at UN, bilateral, and NGO levels.

Desirable

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education.
• Donor certifications and compliance training are desirable qualifications for the role, ensuring a strong understanding of donor requirements and adherence to industry standards and regulations.
• Extensive knowledge of donor programming modalities, compliance frameworks, and negotiation processes and experience interpreting. 
• Negotiating grant & contract agreements and substantial understanding of financial controls.
• Demonstrable management experience, including remote management and coaching

• Working closely with Project Leads and Directors to deliver engaging and persuasive trusts and statutory proposals that expertly match funding criteria to Hubbub’s projects and priorities.    

• Identifying external networking opportunities for yourself and the wider team to increase our visibility amongst potential funders and build new relationships.  

• Undertaking regular prospect research to identify new Trusts that align with Hubbub’s strategy, focus areas and projects  

• Strengthening existing Trusts relationships by showcasing our impact through timely reporting, and delivering donor stewardship to high standards.  

• Updating our funder database (Pipedrive), with relevant funder information in a timely manner.   

• Keeping up with environmental and philanthropic developments and trends so you can join the dots between the urgent environmental challenges that we face, the sustainability ambitions of funders and our own strategic objectives.  

• You will also be expected to join in-person funder meetings whenever required, likely in and around London. 

You will also support:  

• The wider team to secure income from businesses. This will involve developing introduction decks, employee engagement offerings, client proposals and more.  

• Hubbub events by contributing to ideas, compiling invitee lists, and drafting invitations.  

• A variety of other activities that will support our income generation when required.  

Who you are 

• You’re motivated and ambitious, with a tenacity to work towards targets. You will likely have contributed to and secured 5-6 figure grants from Trusts and statutory bodies. You’re open to taking risks and learning from failure. 

• You’re an excellent bid writer and enjoy converting complex projects into winning proposals with funders’ motivations and criteria in mind.

•  Your relationship building skills are top-notch, both virtual and IRL. You’re confident developing new funder relationships from scratch, whilst nurturing existing ones. You enjoy getting away from your desk and finding opportunities to network. 

• You have a deep understanding of how trusts and foundations work and are open to sharing your knowledge with colleagues.

• You’re collaborative and able to work across all levels of an organisation, managing up and down when needed, to produce high quality bids on time and on budget. 

• You’ll enjoy researching and prioritising new Trusts funders to approach. 

•  It would be a bonus if you have experience fundraising from businesses and/or high net worth individuals, plus utilising a CRM system to not just track deals but identify useful insights.

Role Requirements

• Your main objectives is to support the board and senior leadership team in ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe, effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term;
• Under the guidance of the Head of Risk, Audit & Governance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, coordinate and manage the implementation and ongoing development of the charity’s risk management framework; risk policies, risk appetite statement; “risk universe” and board assurance framework / assurance map;
• Undertake deep dive risk assessments and provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls from time to time as required by Audit & Risk Committee;
• Undertake a quarterly review of key financial controls and report findings to the Finance, Finance, Investments & Resources Committee and Audit & Risk Committee;
• Monitor and report on the implementation of agreed management actions designed to strengthen risk mitigation strategies / close compliance gaps and provide assurance on these to SLT and trustees.
• Prepare the risk update for SLT, the board and each of its committees including risk heat maps and key risk indicators for the charity’s principal risks.
• Establish effective working relationships with other second line risk, quality and compliance functions and periodically monitor the effectiveness of their activities.
• Liaise with SLT directors to ensure departmental risk registers are in place and appropriately maintained.
• Facilitate risk workshops and provide online training on TCT’s risk management policy and procedures. Meet regularly with risk owners to review risk responses and progress with actions.  Ensure there is an effective process of escalation of significant risks to SLT and trustees;
• Prepare an annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management for the Audit & Risk Committee;

The development of this role reflects the strategic relevance of physical activity in Warwickshire, particularly at a place-level. The role will be employed through Think Active; however, as Warwickshire North is a priority for this funding, the role will be hosted jointly by Think Active and George Elliot Hospital in Nuneaton on behalf of Warwickshire North Place partners.

A summary of the requirements of the role are as follows:

• Lead and project manage the implementation of the Place Universal Offer Investment across Warwickshire, with a focus on Warwickshire North Place, in accordance with the Conditions of Award.

• Lead the development and implementation of the Place Universal Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for Warwickshire.

• Manage the Place Universal Offer Budget.

• Lead on the design, coordination, and delivery of place-based projects aligned with strategic and local goals within Warwickshire North.

• Manage resources, timelines, and evaluation activity, ensuring effective use of investment and high-quality outcomes.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across sectors, acting as a trusted partner and connector. Partnerships should cover the NHS, both local Trusts but also General Practice and allied staff, the Community and Voluntary Sector and a variety of local government contacts. Be adept at dealing with barriers to partnership working, if and when they arise.

• Support organisations and communities to co-design and implement sustainable solutions that embed physical activity. This will include mentoring others to build local capacity. For example, offering increased opportunities for volunteers, supported through schemes which build their skills and capacity.

• Influence and align partners to adopt whole-system thinking and deliver inclusive, community-centred approaches. A Physical Activity in All Policies approach – ensuring that a conversation about physical activity will always feature.

• Contribute to capturing learning and sharing insight across the partnership and with stakeholders, including Sport England.

• Undertake any other appropriate duties as directed by the line manager and or Chief Executive.

 About you 

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and motivated Project and Programme Manager with experience of delivering complex and multi-stakeholder programmes on time, and within budget.

You will oversee a portfolio of internally and externally-funded projects focused on the delivery of Ukie’s Supercharged mission. Initially, this is likely to include Ukie’s successful Raise the Game initiative alongside a number of smaller skills-related projects.

What you’ll be doing 

As a Programme Manager, based primarily within the Education team you will also be responsible for leading on the delivery of a range of funded partner projects. Working with colleagues across teams, you will support funding bids for new education and social impact based projects. Should these be successful then you will hold lead responsibility for co-ordinating work with colleagues to ensure successful delivery. 

Key responsibilities  

As Programme Manager you will: 

• Provide programme leadership for our Raise the Game (RTG) initiative. Oversee the end-to-end delivery, ensuring the programme meets its objectives and delivers measurable impact across the UK video games industry.

• Shape the programme’s strategy and roadmap, aligning activities with Ukie’s wider mission and priorities.

• Stakeholder engagement and partnerships. Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organisations, industry leaders, educators and community groups. Act as the key point of contact for all programme stakeholders, championing diversity and inclusion in every interaction. 

• Establish the RTG small grant funding pot and oversee its process for distribution. 

• Plan, co-ordinate and deliver key programme activities, including the annual Festival of Food event. 

• Manage programme budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money and long term sustainability.

• Work closely with Ukie’s Communications team to develop and deliver impactful content, case studies and campaigns that amplify our initiatives and increase engagement. 

• Represent Ukie at external events, roundtables and conferences as a visible ambassador. 

• Promote good practice in diversity, equity and inclusion practices across the games sector, influencing industry approaches.

• Co-ordinate working groups and steering committees related to initiatives and projects being managed.

• Work with Ukie colleagues to seek and apply for funding opportunities related to Ukie’s social impact and education work.

• Work with colleagues to design and deliver funded projects. 

• Oversee end to end delivery of individual projects. Managing roles and responsibilities as appropriate.

• Manage project budgets, allocating staff capacity and resources whilst adapting to changing requirements.

The Supporter Retention Manager will be responsible for designing and delivering strategies that build supporter loyalty, increase lifetime value, and enhance the overall supporter experience. We are seeking a dynamic and organised Community and Events Manager to lead and grow Playskill’s community and events fundraising stream.  This role is vital to increasing awareness and generating income to support our services, through meaningful community engagement and events.

You will be responsible for managing and developing our annual events (including The Playskill Golf Day), introducing new local fundraising opportunities, and building relationships within community groups.  You will also line manage the Fundraising Officer, helping to support their contribution to the fundraising team.

Supporting parents beyond the school gate

Our No Cold Child initiative with FatFace stepped in to address a stark statistic: over 150,000 children in the UK do not own a winter coat due to poverty. Through our trusted relationships with schools we distributed 10,000 warm, high-quality coats worth £600,000 to the children who needed them most. Winning the Business Charity Awards ‘Fashion & Retail’ Award, and shortlisted for two further awards, the campaign has been praised not just for providing warmth, but for restoring dignity, inclusion, and school readiness to thousands of children.

The All Dressed Up campaign—developed with World Book Day and Rubies Masquerade—confronted the often-overlooked issue of financial exclusion on key celebration days. More than 100,000 free dressing up costumes worth £1.34 million were delivered to children from low-income families. By enabling participation in events like World Book Day, we helped spark imagination, joy, and belonging for children who might otherwise feel left out—boosting self-esteem and supporting a positive connection to learning.Furthermore, helping attract children into school on a day which often sees struggling parents keep their children at home.

Alongside these national campaigns, Parentkind supports families year-round through a growing suite of programmes designed to inform, prepare and empower parents. Our Be School Ready programme offers crucial guidance and confidence to parents preparing their children for the leap into primary education. With a mix of practical advice, developmental tips, and reassurance, through the distribution of 150,000 copies of Be School Ready and an online campaign, it supports families at one of the most formative moments in their child’s life.

We also deliver a wide-ranging series of live expert webinars and parent-friendly resources, covering topics such as managing anxiety, supporting special educational needs, navigating school transitions, and building home-school partnerships. These resources, developed in consultation with experts and rooted in lived parent experience, equip families to feel informed and empowered, no matter what challenges arise.

Our direct support of schools

Our collaboration with Asda on Cashpot for Schools is another example of unlocking support at scale. This innovative community-led funding model allowed shoppers to nominate and fund their local schools simply through everyday spending. This campaign has generated £5.78 million for schools during the past twelve months, supporting everything from basic classroom supplies to vital extracurricular programmes and pupil wellbeing initiatives. Also shortlisted for a Business Charity Award, it is already a model for community-driven philanthropy.

In April, we launched our Parent-Friendly Schools Accreditation Programme, designed to formally recognise schools that go above and beyond in fostering positive, inclusive relationships with parents. The accreditation celebrates schools that actively listen to parent voices, make engagement easy and accessible, and embed family partnership in their culture. It is a practical and inspiring tool to drive long-term change in the sector and offers a roadmap for schools wanting to strengthen their community.

Our focus on Policy & Research

Our work is grounded in evidence. Since 2023, we have conducted the UK’s largest annual parent survey: the National Parent Survey. With approaching 6,000 participants providing 130,000 bits of data to provide invaluable insights into the struggles, concerns, hopes and fears of parents. The findings are fed directly into government consultations and have already informed national debates on school funding, attendance, mental health support, SEND provision, and curriculum reform.

In each of the past two years the number of policymakers, educators, parents and researchers accessing the National Parent Survey exceeded seven thousand, and the survey featured in more than two hundred media outlets each year. In addition to the National Parent Survey, Parentkind undertakes representative polling of parents throughout the year on a variety of important topics, which increasingly find exposure in the media and policy discussion.

Parentkind provides the secretariat for the Westminster APPG for Parents and the Stormont APG for Parental Participation in Education. Two very successful parliamentary groups bringing together policymakers and a variety of stakeholders to consider the challenges faced by parents and act as a voice for them through a variety of policymakers.

Our Media Engagement

Since becoming recognised as the UK’s largest parent charity, with likely more groups and frontline volunteers than the Scouts or Girlguiding, Parentkind has gained increasing prominence in the media.Beyond the reach of the National Parent Survey and our regular polling, Parentkind receives frequent requests for quotes of reflection and input by media in relation to their journalism and from Government and non-Government entities in support of policy announcements.

Beyond this, the Parentkind community of volunteers and PTAs share local or regional media announcements of their own.Whether or not it celebrating the completion of large projects they have invested countless hours and thousands of pounds into realising, or the community event they have worked into the night to deliver for their school communities.

It will be your role to take this much further, gaining increasing exposure for the work of Parentkind, its community, and parents more broadly.

• We are a small, fast paced team, there are no line management responsibilities attached to the role. We’re looking for someone with a “roll up your sleeves up and get on with it” mentality.
• Being able to demonstrate you can sell our parent voice research and amazing existing data to media across broadcast, social media and print media 
• Being able to lead and deliver a plan to raise our profile on social media, broadcast and in print media
• A good understanding of the challenges faced by children and families, education debates and education policy, we are the voice of parents.
• We are a cross party charity and we work with all parties, we want someone who understands that approach and brings it to their work.
• Someone who can to respond to social media debates at pace and make sure are part of the debate.
• Experience of writing compelling written documents when 100 words would make a stronger case than 1,000. You can bring evidence to life and make an argument to convince.
• Someone with experience of appearing on broadcast media and willing to be a ‘talking head’ for Parentkind as required. This is not essential, but it would be great to have someone willing to do this.

The Soldiers' and Aviators' Scripture Readers Association (known as SASRA) is one of the longest-established Christian charities supporting the British Armed Forces. Under Royal patronage and working with over 70,000 soldiers, 30,000 RAF personnel and some 10,000 supporters of various types, we look to introduce members of the British Armed Forces to a practical experience of the Christian faith. 

We are now looking for home-based Regional Managers to help us engage with the Christian public across the UK.

The main function of Regional Managers is to bring before the Christian public the work we do taking the gospel of Jesus Christ and bringing a practical experience of the Christian faith to the young people of the British Army and Royal Air Force.

The Regional Manager will present in churches, manage a team of volunteers, establish and maintain strategic partnerships across their region, lead regional projects and events, and produce and curate a wide variety of content.

The aim is to stimulate and encourage prayer, financial support and volunteering in support and furtherance of the work of SASRA, always respecting the interdenominational nature of our ministry. You will shape and grow the fundraising activities in the region and meet with supporters.

You will have excellent organisational, verbal and written communication skills. You’ll also have experience of managing and motivating individuals or groups. Critically, you will possess the spiritual endowment to promote prayer and missionary interest for the Lord's work through the Association in HM Forces.

You will be home-based, but expected to travel inside your region on a regular basis, meeting with supporters and supporting organisations that are raising funds for SASRA

You will be responsible for raising our profile among the Christian community and generating significant levels of engagement with potential supporters of SASRA (both individuals and churches)

Some aptitude for, and experience of, pastoral work is desirable.

Technical Capabilities:

You'll need some basic IT skills and a familiarity with social media, but training will be provided. Good spreadsheet or project management skills would be an advantage, as would any experience with producing marketing material and/or infographics.
