Job Profile

CAFOD has an ambition to be digital first in our marketing and communications, to stay ahead of emerging trends and make the most of what digital technology can offer to strengthen our relationships with our supporters and in our ways of working across the organisation. Digital technology has already transformed our communications and will continue to do so. This senior communications and marketing role will be responsible for steering the ongoing digital transformation of CAFODs work, primarily in the supporter programme and also across the wider organisation.

This role encompasses overall responsibility for the brand, digital marketing, messaging, proactive and reactive media relations, with a core focus on digital transformation across all platforms. This post will play a key role in guiding our digital shop fronts and marketing efforts, evolving supporter journeys, steering our email programme and leading on the digital infrastructure to enable delivery of our supporter programme. It will ensure that digital engagement and conversion is embedded and an integral part of our communications planning. 

This role will drive innovation and data-informed insight across the full spectrum of communications and wider organisation functions. It will embed a digital-first approach across teams and guide and accompany the wider organisation on harnessing opportunities of new technologies, making digital engagement integral to communications planning. 

This role will drive brand awareness, brand advocacy and action across our programmes to ensure CAFOD is top of mind amongst the Catholic Community of England and Wales, helping to grow support from our constituency. You will bring proven senior-level experience in digital communications and marketing, ideally within the charity sector. With a strong understanding of communications at a senior level with expert knowledge of digital channels, audience engagement, and online conversion, you also have a strategic grasp of how digital integrates into broader communications and supporter strategies. Your leadership style is collaborative and visionary, and you have the gravitas and expertise to set the digital marketing direction for a large organisation, while bringing all teams along with your vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development, direction setting and delivery of an ambitious, insight-led digital-first communications strategy that enhances supporter journeys, increases engagement and drives measurable growth in support of our supporter programme, especially our parishioner-first fundraising strategy. 

• Act as CAFODs senior expert on communications, advising the Executive team, across departments and influencing strategic decision-making, including on digital direction and development, at the highest level. 

• Lead complex cross-organisational projects that improve our digital supporter experience, from acquisition to long-term engagement and conversion, ensuring timeliness and consistency with supporter programme priorities, especially the parishioner-first fundraising strategy and approach. 

• Provide leadership and overall oversight of external communications and messaging, including brand consistency and press/media engagement, ensuring consistency between our fundraising efforts, our campaigning work and profiling our international work to supporters and key stakeholders.

• Lead and oversee the digital teams - email marketing programme, social media engagement, digital developments, campaigns and the website, to ensure user experience is optimised and platforms support our supporter programme and broader organisational strategic objectives and ambitions. 

• Lead the media team to explore and encourage new approaches including how we further maximise the digital media landscape.

• Line manage senior specialists across digital marketing, website, and media and PR, ensuring high performance and professional growth. 

• Work closely with IT, data and external agencies to ensure agile, secure and effective digital delivery across platforms. 

• Represent the organisation externally where appropriate, with a focus on digital thought leadership. 
• Develop and manage the communications budget effectively, aligning resources to priority areas and demonstrating clear impact. Agree and ensure accountability for objectives and KPIs as part of the wider supporter strategy, fostering a culture of ongoing learning, adaptation and improvement.

Person Specification 

• Extensive experience in a senior digital communications and marketing leadership role, with demonstrable success in developing and delivering integrated and audience-led multi-channel communications and marketing strategies. 
• Strong experience of overseeing development of supporter journeys and objectives, website development, CRM integration and email engagement and conversion. 
• Passionate about digital innovation and technologies, with deep knowledge of platforms, formats, and trends. 
• Committed to insight-led and data-driven approaches with skills to use digital tools, platforms and analytics to shape decisions and measure impact. 
• Excellent leadership, inter-personal and team management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate multi-disciplinary teams. 
• Strong cross-functional project management ability, with experience leading organisational change in digital capability. 
• Understanding of broader communications and marketing disciplines, with the ability to ensure alignment and brand consistency and also oversee media and PR work, including reputational risk and crisis communications. 
• Understanding of the Catholic church in England and Wales and knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching. 
• A track record of strong written and spoken communication skills. 
• Highly organised, able to manage a busy workload and consistently meet deadlines.

• A strong communicator with at least two years’ experience in a communications role.

• Skilled in producing visual and written content for websites, social media and newsletters.

• Confident using digital tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe suite, Wordpress/Drupal).

• Organised, creative, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

• Motivated by making a difference for people affected by genetic, rare and undiagnosed conditions.

Experience in the health, social care or charity sector would be an advantage, but curiosity and empathy matter just as much as direct experience.

 About you 

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and motivated Project and Programme Manager with experience of delivering complex and multi-stakeholder programmes on time, and within budget.

You will oversee a portfolio of internally and externally-funded projects focused on the delivery of Ukie’s Supercharged mission. Initially, this is likely to include Ukie’s successful Raise the Game initiative alongside a number of smaller skills-related projects.

What you’ll be doing 

As a Programme Manager, based primarily within the Education team you will also be responsible for leading on the delivery of a range of funded partner projects. Working with colleagues across teams, you will support funding bids for new education and social impact based projects. Should these be successful then you will hold lead responsibility for co-ordinating work with colleagues to ensure successful delivery. 

Key responsibilities  

As Programme Manager you will: 

• Provide programme leadership for our Raise the Game (RTG) initiative. Oversee the end-to-end delivery, ensuring the programme meets its objectives and delivers measurable impact across the UK video games industry.

• Shape the programme’s strategy and roadmap, aligning activities with Ukie’s wider mission and priorities.

• Stakeholder engagement and partnerships. Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organisations, industry leaders, educators and community groups. Act as the key point of contact for all programme stakeholders, championing diversity and inclusion in every interaction. 

• Establish the RTG small grant funding pot and oversee its process for distribution. 

• Plan, co-ordinate and deliver key programme activities, including the annual Festival of Food event. 

• Manage programme budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money and long term sustainability.

• Work closely with Ukie’s Communications team to develop and deliver impactful content, case studies and campaigns that amplify our initiatives and increase engagement. 

• Represent Ukie at external events, roundtables and conferences as a visible ambassador. 

• Promote good practice in diversity, equity and inclusion practices across the games sector, influencing industry approaches.

• Co-ordinate working groups and steering committees related to initiatives and projects being managed.

• Work with Ukie colleagues to seek and apply for funding opportunities related to Ukie’s social impact and education work.

• Work with colleagues to design and deliver funded projects. 

• Oversee end to end delivery of individual projects. Managing roles and responsibilities as appropriate.

• Manage project budgets, allocating staff capacity and resources whilst adapting to changing requirements. 

• Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication of progress and managing expectations.

• Monitor project delivery, overseeing progress and ensuring the project meets milestones and quality standards.

Your role is to help people achieve their potential through working collaboratively, valuing lived experience and creating a psychologically informed environment.

About the role

This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting young people with complex mental health needs. The Apprenticeship Opportunity

The Role

The HR Manager will operate across the full range of HR generalist functions spanning the staff hire to retire cycle, supporting members of the team who lead specialisms within this (such as recruitment, onboarding, reward and learning and development) to ensure seamless service design and delivery. As a key contact for all HTB Group Entity COOs, Heads of Department (HoDs) and Line Managers, the HR Manager will consult and agree, in liaison with the Head of People appropriate action and support for entity leaders and their teams in all operational HR matters. They will work alongside other senior members of the People Team to provide advice and support that is pragmatic and culturally appropriate while remaining at all times fully legally compliant. The HR Manager is likely to line manage one or two members of the team and will take the lead in certain areas, skill set dependent.

The Key Responsibilities

• Build healthy, dynamic relationships with entity leaders and managers to continually develop ways of working that fit entity-specific requirements in line with core HTB Group policies and procedures.
• Maintain a knowledge of best practice compliance with employment law and regulatory requirements to support appropriate risk management relating to staff employment and personnel management.
• Oversee complex employee relations cases, ensuring resolution aligns with organisational values and legal compliance.

• Ensure the appropriate and comprehensive documentation of key meetings and discussions between staff, line managers and the People Team regarding HR issues.
• Assist all levels of management with the performance management process, disciplinary and redundancy processes, and probationary period responsibilities.
• Work alongside HR Operations to support delivery of the core HR annual agenda. Lead strategic initiatives in partnership with the Head of People, contributing to the design and execution of group-wide HR strategies.
• Working with the senior People team develop relationships with external providers of benefits and services for the HTB Group.

• Support on annual budget setting and show good stewardship the resources available to you.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and update of operating processes to ensure continuous improvement of the team’s service provision.
• Report progress and people / staff analytics to senior management to facilitate effective decision making.
• Create proactive and effective programmes for upskilling HoDs and Line Managers in their understanding and handling of the full range of employee relations issues.
• Support and contribute to the ongoing growth of our Learning and Development offering.
• Will play an integral part in the recruitment and onboarding process.
• Collaborate closely with the Senior HR Manager to deliver key aspects of the People Team function, providing mutual support, and stepping in when needed to ensure continuity and effectiveness.

The Right Candidate

• Significant expertise in generalist HR practice, including operating at HR Manager level, with a proven ability to lead and influence across both strategic and operational HR functions.
• CIPD qualified Level 5 or equivalent qualification. Chartered Member of the CIPD.
• Credibility with line managers and excellent relationship building skills; a strongly people-focussed stance with the ability to maintain a practical and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and case-handling.
• The highest integrity, sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Unflappable, tenacious attitude that allows the role holder to work effectively in a dynamic and flexible context.
• Excellent knowledge of UK employee relations, with a strong track record of managing complex cases in alignment with legal standards and organisational values.

Brighton and Hove Speak Out is an innovative advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives by providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.

About the role

We are seeking to recruit an advocate for adults and young people (17+) with learning disabilities, who will:

• Deliver 1-1 advocacy casework on a broad range of issues that enables people with learning disabilities to express their views and wishes, understand their rights and options, communicate with professionals and address issues they face.
• Coordinate Speak Out’s Drop-in advocacy service, providing time limited 1-1 advocacy within drop-in sessions.
• Develop peer advocacy at drop-in sessions.

About you

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be able to manage a complex workload and work independently within a framework of supervision. Experience of advocacy or work with vulnerable clients is essential. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and knowledge of learning disability services is an advantage. A full induction and training will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support. It would be desirable for the successful candidate to hold the national qualification in independent advocacy, however this can be undertaken once in post.

We are looking for a creative, driven, compassionate, Communications Lead to develop, lead, and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports our ambition to double the number of adults learning to read with Read Easy UK by the end of our current strategy.

As a strong communications generalist, with strategic and operational expertise, the Communications Lead will work closely with employees, volunteers and other key stakeholders to strengthen the charity’s national brand and position.
