Asylum Matters is looking for a dynamic campaigner committed to upholding the rights of people seeking asylum in Yorkshire & Humber and across the UK at a critical time. Asylum Matters plays a significant role in working towards positive change for refugees and people seeking asylum. We are a small team based around the UK, working locally and nationally with an extensive network of partners to advocate for progressive change in the asylum system. We work with frontline organisations and people with lived experience across the UK on a range of issues that affect people in the asylum system. We co-lead the award-winning Lift the Ban coalition campaign, that brings together almost 300 organisations calling for the right to work for people seeking asylum. The Yorkshire & Humber Campaigns Manager also lead our Lift the Ban campaign Nationally, working with our powerful coalition to raise our collective voices and call for working rights for people in the asylum system.

We are a facilitator of collaboration and joint action. Our work helps strengthen collective advocacy on asylum reform and ensures it is informed by the reality on the ground. We became an independent charity in 2021 and have ambitious plans for the future as we seek to maximise the potential of our collaborative campaigning model and identify opportunities for change at local, regional and national levels, in a challenging external environment.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with local organisations and networks in Yorkshire & Humber to develop and implement strategies for achieving change locally and nationally. They will have experience of developing and delivering impactful campaigns that have achieved change. They will be an effective communicator, able to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with partners. They will be proactive, able to spot influencing opportunities and quickly mobilise support to respond to them. They will have a commitment to the vision of a fairer and more effective asylum system, and to empowering and working with those with direct experience of it.

Over the past decade Pembroke House’s activities in Walworth have grown considerably, with annual turnover rising from £200k to £1 million. We are looking for an experienced and skilled financial professional who can steward us through this crucial period of development.  You will be someone who combines a passion for our mission, a keen eye for detail and a flair for interpreting financial information and supporting non-specialists to make sound financial decisions. 

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions. 

The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.

As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.

The Bomb Factory Art Foundation is a charitable arts organisation with a mission to support emerging and established artists through exhibitions, residencies, and studio provision. The charity is now seeking its first Development Manager to play a pivotal role within this small but ambitious organisation to support with its celebratory anniversary event and longer-term goals. The event will be ambitious, fun, a spectacle to inspire and create a sense of community. The aim is for the event to act as a springboard to a structured fundraising programme, increased public engagement and reputation-building efforts to keep the Bomb Factory’s doors open for the next ten years.

The role has potential to scale with the charity and would suit someone who is experienced and hands-on with development, a team player, willing and confident to contribute to decision-making and shape fundraising strategy.

Job title: Development Manager

Reporting to: Strategy Manager and regular liaison with Director, Head of Operations, Trustees

Hours: 3 days (21 hours) a week flexible between the hours of 9am and 6pm - to be agreed with the Manager

Length: 6 month contract (immediate start) with potential to be made permanent on a 2-day a week basis

Location: The role can be worked on a hybrid basis, with an office currently based in the Bomb Factory Holborn building. Applicants must be able to come to the London office at least one day per week

Salary: £35,000 FTE per annum (prorated for part time)

Job purpose  

To plan and project manage the charity’s 10 year anniversary celebratory event to be delivered in October 2025 and to kick start the charity's fundraising prospects.

Specific responsibilities:

• Alongside the wider creative team, plan and project manage the 10 year anniversary celebratory event to be delivered in October 2025

• Contribute to strategic communications of telling our story and articulating the case for support

• With support from the team and building working relationships with Trustees and other key stakeholders, identify and cultivate supporter prospects for the event and future fundraising opportunities

• Lead on sponsorship and partnership opportunities for the event

• Set the charity up for success with systems and processes to underpin prospect cultivation

Responsibilities following the event, with potential to extend the contract:

• Building on the case for support - lead the research and design and initiate implementation of a fundraising strategy suitable for the charity

• Advise on and embed good practice around fundraising

Requirements

Essential:

• Significant experience of initiating and delivering impactful events

• Strong organisational skills including budgeting

• A self-starter, able to work in a small and dynamic organisation

• Be an active participant in the world of art and culture, accustomed to networking with a range of stakeholders

• Proven experience of developing and putting into practice fundraising strategies in a similar role, working with individual donors, partnerships, trusts & foundations or public funders

Desirable:

• A strategic thinker who can support the team to develop and communicate the Bomb Factory’s evolving role as a key organisation within the London arts ecosystem

• Confident in communicating through all types of media

Research Initiatives Manager

The Research Initiatives Manager is a crucial role at the College, as you will work closely with senior clinicians to lead a series of projects and activities to feed into the development and delivery of child-health research initiatives. The initiatives include research awards, research events and research capacity and capability building, by embedding academic skills into the paediatric workforce and enabling academic research.

As Research Initiatives Manager, you will also lead on the RCPCH Genomics Programme which aims to develop and deliver a series of resources and activities related to supporting the preparedness of our membership for the era of genomics medicine.

Based within the Research and Evidence team, you will be the operational lead for relevant Committees and working groups, acting as a representative of the College to represent the views of paediatricians, whilst ensuring timely reporting of progress to Project Boards.

You will also build and develop relationships with external stakeholders and work with the Head of Grants and Partnerships to identify sources of funding to support future work within the Research and Evidence remit.

With a degree or equivalent experience with a research, health science, life sciences or genetics/genomics component, you should have a proven understanding of the national funding landscape and infrastructure for clinical research.

An expert at providing senior project leadership, you should have experience of collaborative ways of working across multidisciplinary teams and programmes of work, along with demonstrable experience of producing high quality written reports, documentation and promotional information suitable for a range of audiences.

With excellent organisational skills and an ability to adopt an orderly and precise approach to work, paying careful attention to detail and the ability to follow standard procedures and ways of working, you should also have demonstrable programme management skills, and be capable of working autonomously and taking personal responsibility for your projects.

Knowledge of research methodology, including data analysis, along with a background of organising workshops and events and an understanding of the genomic medicine landscape, would be desirable. 

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, and part of a small but ambitious fundraising team, you will manage our relationships with many of AfriKids existing and prospective major and mid-level donors, as well as have oversight of our small individual giving and community & events programmes.

Your role will focus on building existing relationships, developing stewardship plans, identifying and researching prospects and forming proposals. You’ll work closely with our Communications Manager to develop bi-annual appeals to our donors, securing match funding opportunities and developing engaging asks. You’ll also work to build a legacy giving ask, and explore other fundraising opportunities relevant to our target audience.

You will play a key role in supporting the development of the team’s fundraising strategy, using your experience and knowledge of the fundraising landscape to help us devise an ambitious but sustainable plan to expand and safeguard our work into the future.

The requirement

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will join our team to run our innovation fund and to manage projects designed and created by BDF staff members to improve the lives of disabled people in society more widely.

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will also work across teams to help design and manage the creation of various new products and services. In addition, they will work closely with the CEO to scope out and deliver a specific project to increase the number of disabled people who are Non-Executive Directors and advisers to boards.
