· Helping patients live meaningfully in the time they have left

· Supporting patients to have control and choices over decisions about their care & maintain their independence

· Supporting patients to have a ‘good death’

· Providing emotional, practical support to both patients and loved ones to help alleviate stress, anxiety and social isolation

· Helping loved ones to plan and prepare for life after the death of their loved one.

Job Purpose:

To provide support, information and guidance to end of life patients and their carers to empower and ensure that they have the right information and the right time to make informed choices about their care.

Counsellor

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced counsellor to join the Emotional Support Team in Cornwall. If a 35-hour role is not for you, a blend of part time hours as well as flexible working is available. This can be discussed further at interview.

Position: S11168 Stroke Association - Emotional Support Coordinator/Counsellor

Location: Home-based West Cornwall, with frequent travel across Cornwall required as part of this role (May include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Full or part-time hours, 2 x 18 hours per week positions or 1x 35 hours per week position

Salary: Circa £29,900 per annum, pro rata

Contract: This is a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026. We currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role

The project funded by the Elwyn Thomas Memorial Fund will deliver an Emotional Support Service as well as through collaborative community working, will result in valuable assets for the community. In the shape of self-sustaining peer and volunteer led support through groups, partnerships and activities.

Reporting to the Emotional Support Service Manager, the team will deliver a professional counselling service to stroke survivors, carers and relatives.  Counselling sessions are designed to help clients to develop emotional resilience, readjust to life after stroke and prepare to reintegrate into community life.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Providing one to one counselling to stroke survivors, carers and relatives including those with communication or cognitive difficulties

· Providing counselling sessions in person, on-line or by telephone, throughout Cornwall

· Assessing the appropriateness of counselling for service users by providing emotional needs assessment sessions as well as using appropriate screening/evaluation tools (e.g. PHQ and GAD)

· Managing risk and safeguarding issues in accordance with appropriate legal, ethical and organisational requirements.

About You

You will have:

· An advanced diploma in integrative, humanistic or person-centred counselling/psychotherapy; for example, BACP recognised course or equivalent (i.e. 450 hours skills and theory, 100 hours of supervised practice, 20 hours of personal therapy)

· A minimum of 1 year post qualification supervised clinical practice

· BACP registration (or equivalent) and actively working towards accreditation

· Experience of delivering short-term counselling

· Experience of working with people with cognitive impairment

This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role. You must live in the West area of Cornwall to fulfil this travel requirement.

Salary and annual leave

South London Citizens 

South London Citizens is a thriving chapter with a growing team of ~18 organisers and project staff. We are building the power of communities in South London through borough alliances (in Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton, Croydon) and the wider region by developing community leadership and supporting people to take action on what matters most to them. Over the past three years, we have worked in partnership with mental health trusts to deliver a pioneering organising project, South London Listens (SLL), to prevent mental ill-health, and more recently with wider South London NHS leaders to take action on a range of issues (from low wages to housing conditions) that impact our communities’ health.

Purpose 

We are looking for two Associate Organisers to join our thriving and dynamic team in South London building the power of local communities. These roles will support local organising, and have a specific focus on health and living wage organising.

In this exciting and innovative role, you will work with community organisations, including faith institutions, schools, universities, and community groups. Your primary responsibility will be to

1. build ‘Be Well’ teams to support the wellbeing of their communities, as part of the South London Listens partnership; 

2. find and develop new community leaders within their organisations; and 

3. take action to tackle the social determinants of health inequality (e.g. lack of migration status, racism, housing conditions, low wages and precarious work).

One or both of the roles will also include specific organising with low paid workers to lead the fight for a real living wage and living hours.

Grow and deliver on the priorities of South London Listens and our broader Health organising 

• Build and support new Be Well Hubs in a range of institutions in your allocated boroughs. Including identifying new institutions, delivering training, and supporting them once they are established.

• Work with other organisers to deliver on the priorities identified by communities that are part of the South London Listens project

• Ensure reporting and capturing of stories of the South London Listens project are captured and shared to celebrate and grow the project.

At least one of the roles includes supporting our organising efforts for more just work and wages 

• Identify and develop worker leaders

• Take action with South London Citizens leaders to increase the number of living wage and living hours employers in London 

• Develop and deliver community organising training for worker leaders 

Build relational power to further the goals of CUK 

• Actively participate in the development of a comprehensive power analysis appropriate to the desired sphere of influence for each project/assignment

• Establish working relationships with identified leaders and demonstrate ability to move them into action, including as part of the wider alliance; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required

• Conduct one-to-ones to develop relationships with leaders and understand their concerns.

• Recruit new dues paying institutions; work together with a more senior Organiser to negotiate annual membership fees and letters of understanding

• Liaise with the Finance & Operations team to update the membership database and ensure timely invoicing and fee collection

The Role 

An exciting Café Manager position has opened at our Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre, which houses a fully integrated Cancer Rehabilitation Centre, Shop, Donation Centre, Office, and our first-ever Café, named Café Hornbeam. 

We are looking for an experienced Café Manager who will provide excellent customer service, prepare delicious food, and create a warm and welcoming space, inspiring their Deputy Café Manager and team of employees and volunteers to do the same. This role will be accountable for the overall management of the Café, including process and policy adherence and development, and Food Safety. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Uphold and manage café operating procedures and policies, including Food Safety, Allergens, Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

• Manage the product mix, introducing new products where appropriate and maximising profit margins.

• Identify appropriate food and drinks suppliers and build and manage supplier relationships.

• Maintain an up-to-date awareness of developments within the café/food service industry to make or recommend appropriate changes to the delivery of café services and products.

• Ensure the café is presented to the highest standards with attractive merchandising of food and drinks. 

• Effectively manage time to work alongside the team, whilst completing managerial duties.

• Plan and oversee the implementation of new menus, specials, and food and drink related offers.

• Manage the Deputy Café Manager and Café Assistants, including supporting them with their continued development, managing rotas and timesheets, providing training and providing appropriate support when needed. 

• Maximise profitability through driving sales and managing and controlling costs, stock, and margins effectively. 

• Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• Proven experience of working in a catering or hospitality role at a similar level. 

• Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certification. 

• Experience in managing staff and/or volunteers including recruitment and development. 

• To be highly organised with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate yourself and others. 

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and nurture talent.

• To be resilient and adaptable to change. 

• To be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list due to the requirement to supervise and train Cafe volunteers between the ages of 14 – 18 years old.

We are looking for a Chief Officer who will be responsible for the day to day running of the charity as well as working with the Trustees to take the organisation forwards.  The successful candidate will have experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, will have skills in finance, management and IT, and will enjoy working in a busy environment where there are changing demands and priorities throughout the day.

At Oak Tree Farm we are committed to providing a high quality, supportive environment where adults with learning disabilities, our Team Members, are the centre of everything we do.  The farm has livestock, growing fields, greenhouses, polytunnels and a tearoom as well as craft rooms, a cottage garden, pottery and shop. Our Team Members are involved in every aspect of life on the farm and the farm is firmly embedded in the local community with Team Members providing gardening services to local people as well as volunteering on the Sandon Estate.
