Main Purpose
The RCOphth provides education, support and professional development for ophthalmologists of all grades and across all of their roles. Key Responsibilities
- Management of the INSPIRE digital learning platform (Brightspace)
- Work with Editors, Co-Editors, Instructors and Contributors on the production of high-quality digital learning materials in terms of content, level and educational rigour
- Increase learner engagement and satisfaction
- Develop mechanism to sell INSPIRE to non-members in the UK and the overseas market

INSPIRE Platform
- Provide a skilled helpdesk service to users. This can involve talking users through how to use the platform, and sometimes dealing with difficult technical enquiries that require explanations to non-technical users.
- Manage the progression of materials through the necessary stages of creation and development and ensuring that materials are uploaded onto INSPIRE in a timely manner.
- Develop the functionality of the platform and managing its interaction with other software such as the membership database and collection of payments
Editors/Co-Editors/Instructors/Contributors
- Provide support to Editors and Co-Editors in loading resources onto the INSPIRE platform and integrating them to create learning materials. This will entail formatting and editing text, images and video for house style and grammar whilst maintaining medical/scientific accuracy.
- Checking consent and clearing copyright/licensing permissions for materials used in INSPIRE.
- Organising Editor and Co-Editor meetings and workshops.
- Create mechanisms to obtain user feedback on learning materials and evaluate the platform to direct change.
Communications/Liaison
- Liaise with internal colleagues in the Department, the Communications Team and external stakeholders in relation to the development and promotion of online resources.
- Liaising with College staff from other departments about current and future projects that require support from INSPIRE or will generate learning materials for the platform.
- Liaise with those organising and delivering courses and webinars to record presentations, select and upload materials, and create specific learning pathways for delegates.
- Work with the Education Co-ordinator to design and produce promotional materials for resources.
- Work with e-Learning for Health (e-LfH) on the materials that the College has on that platform and integrate materials onto INSPIRE. This includes attending the Content Provider Group meetings of which this College is a member as well as other meetings as appropriate.
- Create, recruit to and support a Digital Learning Editorial Board which will be responsible, with other stakeholders, for ensuring materials are up-to-date and quality assured for 100% accuracy. Once in place, be the staff contact responsible for the effective running of the Board and relevant processes.
- Be a member of and contribute to the INSPIRE Group (operational group of largely staff) and Digital Learning Subcommittee (members and staff).

Digital platform ownership
- Work closely with the Data Manager to ensure the integration between the website (iMIS RiSE), our Learning Management System and member engagement system (iMIS) continues to work well.
- Plan and support delivery of any development work from a website perspective in close collaboration with staff where necessary and with the website supplier and implementation partner, where necessary. This includes understanding and specifying business requirements sufficiently well for suppliers to quote against and undertake the required development work.
- To liaise with third party suppliers on a regular basis regarding integration between digital platforms including the website (iMIS RiSE) member engagement system (iMIS), LMS and other online products.

About The Hub and Short Breaks service:
For over 20 years Norwood has run a Short Break service called Unity for young people on Sundays and during school holidays. Many families have benefited from this service, and it remains popular with families and local authority commissioners. There is a waiting list of children and young people across Barnet and Herts who wish to access this provision.
That’s why as part of our recently launched strategy, we’re expanding the Short Break Service offering, to support families and young people with a variety of choice and cohort-based opportunities including after school clubs. The opening of the Hub allows the expansion of activities throughout the week, term-time, and during school holidays, evenings and weekends.
With a recent refurbishment, we can now offer a location dedicated to supporting children throughout the week. The building has outdoor space, a sensory room, kitchen, activity rooms and multipurpose spaces which allow children the opportunity to thrive in a bespoke space for them.
The Children and Family Service Department will deliver an ambitious Whole Family Centred, Strengths and Needs Based Model to empower children, young people, and their families. This expert-led coordinated approach underpinned by robust governance and outcome and impact measures will seek to ensure families with a neurodivergent or neurodevelopmentally disabled child can realise their full potential and thrive. The objectives for each team member will be clear, ensuring a meaningful and positive impact on those accessing the services, with consistency in support and communications, and the ability to access services required effectively.
About the role:
This is one of a number of new vacancies being recruited as part of a dedicated team for the further development of the Hub and Short Breaks offering to extend the reach to more children and young people throughout the week.
As the Hub and Short Breaks Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the service, plus take the lead in the growth and development of the service to maximize the reach and opportunities for young people within the community. The role will ensure the service is compliant with Ofsted, offers a varied timetable with clear criteria for each club/activity, undertakes referrals and assessments and works collaboratively with wider Norwood colleagues to flex, grow and change to meet the ever-changing needs of the community.
You will utilise your existing experience of operational, funding, budget and staff management, plus knowledge of children and young people curriculum to take ownership in shaping and driving the future of our Short Breaks provision through extensive strategic development and innovative ideas for our weekday, weekend and holiday programmes, ensuring Norwood continually responds to the wishes, aspirations and needs reflected by the young people we support to provide a meaningful, flexible and creative offering.
You will be responsible for all aspects of the management and delivery of the service including the management and recruitment of a team of permanent sessional workers, ad hoc sessional workers and volunteers. You will assess the suitability of young people to participate in the provision, design and develop choice and cohort-based sessions, whilst working within the framework of OFSTED to ensure quality and compliance.

Essential skills and experience:
- Ability to commit to a full-time role with flexibility, covering the shifts required
- Significant experience of working with neurodivergent children, young people and parents/carers and of facilitating an inclusive child-centred service
- Experience of working in partnership with other agencies and organisations, with awareness of the support and advice which may be offered
- Recent experience of managing contract compliance with a demonstrable knowledge of regulatory frameworks (Ofsted, CQC contract compliance etc) and how to put these into practice
- Experience of financial and budget management
- An appropriate qualification at Level 3 or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of the range of interventions and approaches that can be used to support disabled children and young people
- An understanding of various communication aids including Makaton, PECS, AAC etc
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- A team player with strong leadership skills who enjoys working with others to achieve shared goals
- Excellent communication skills with a flexible style to communicate with people in a form and manner that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating
- Excellent time management skills who can work under pressure to meet deadlines

Role Overview
The successful candidate will be involved in leading and co-ordinating the delivery of Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s research strategy including our programme of grants, and our work to support increased patient and public involvement in research. They will work with the Director of Services & Evidence and Head of Evidence & Research to support the charity’s involvement with external research bodies and contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects, helping to influence and meet our strategic objectives.
About You
We are looking for someone who has proven experience of delivering successful research funding and patient and public involvement research activities. The successful candidate must be adept at establishing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders and comfortable working with operational performance metrics, and implementing strategies and objectives for the organisation. Ideally your background will be in health care or working in a medical charity and you’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent. Given this role will involve managing and providing leadership to the Research team, prior management experience would be an advantage. Whilst not essential, a knowledge of the needs of people affected by Crohn’s and Colitis would be beneficial also.

Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to travel to events/conferences. You will be required to attend two Directorate days each year and occasional face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

Are you passionate about creating impactful events and driving fundraising success? We're looking for an Events Manager, to develop and deliver innovative products and propositions that engage and mobilise individuals to fundraise for BHF.
As the Event Manager, you will oversee the development and end-to-end delivery of our product portfolio. This includes planning, marketing, the online journey, stewardship, on-the-day delivery, and evaluation.
Key areas of focus:
- AJ Bell Great Run Series Partnership (60%):
- Lead the delivery of BHF's official charity partnership with the AJ Bell Great Run Series 2025.

About you

A strategic thinker with expertise managing commercial projects who can achieve objectives through analytical insights. You are agile and responsive to both internal and external factors with a knowledge of new and emerging technologies and trends in the events fundraising space. You also have the ability to interpret customer, market and financial data and insight to inform recommendations.
An excellent communicator and project manager, comfortable with juggling multiple, often conflicting priorities you'll work in matrix style across two key areas of the team.
Working arrangements
This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.
At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on hybrid contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average.
This position involves travel throughout the UK and occasional weekend working for event delivery (approximately 5 weekends per year). Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) will be provided for weekend work.
