Our new Senior Social Media Officer (Professionals) will be responsible for managing the smooth day-to-day running of our dedicated social media channels for professionals.

This new role will focus on leading the development of channels to promote our charity’s training, accreditation, diagnosis and best practice support.

We are looking for someone to create engaging multimedia content and copy, and build and nurture positive community engagement. The Development and Alumni Office (DARO) exists to support the University of Birmingham's academic and student community by engaging, inspiring, and celebrating alumni, individuals, and charitable funders who give their money, time, and networks to support the University’s strategic priorities. The Office, which is comprised of five teams, is focused on fundraising and volunteering from alumni, organisations and individuals who are passionate about changing lives, through funding various research projects, supporting student bursaries, mentoring students, and providing internships, as well as providing a versatile programme of engagement opportunities for our global alumni community.

This is an exciting opportunity to join DARO as Donor Experience Manager, helping to shape and deliver outstanding donor journeys for multiple audiences. In this role, you’ll play a key part in deepening relationships with our donors and volunteers, ensuring that their experience of supporting beneficiaries is meaningful, personal and impactful.

You will lead on the planning and delivery of our donor experience programme, from tailored communications and impact reports to stewardship and cultivation events, campus visits and administration of our Recognition Circles. With a strong understanding of donor motivations, you’ll create experiences that reflect the transformative impact of philanthropy and build long-term engagement.

You will manage a team of two Donor Experience Officers, setting individual and team objectives while providing day-to-day support, clear direction, and opportunities for professional development. As a team leader, you’ll create a collaborative and high-performing culture, ensuring that workload is prioritised and balanced, deadlines are met, and work is consistently delivered to a high standard. This role sits in the Fundraising team within the Development and Alumni Relations Office.

Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Charitable and Corporate Partnerships (Trusts and Foundations), Communications, Events, Data and Supporter Insight and Campaign Management, as well as academics and Professional Services colleagues across the University, you’ll ensure a joined-up approach that puts donors at the heart of our work. You’ll also support the engagement and recognition of volunteers, including bespoke activity for our Alumni Leadership Mentoring Programme members.

We’re looking for a creative and collaborative individual with experience in donor or stakeholder engagement, event delivery, and writing for impact. You’ll bring a strategic mindset, excellent relationship management skills, and a genuine passion for enhancing the donor experience at a leading university.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of conducting and supporting Equality Impact Assessments or similar assessments and data analysis that informs policy and procedure
• Strong understanding of intersectionality and generalist EDI knowledge, including the Equality Act 2010, to inform specialist advice and guidance
• Experienced in delivering strategic interventions and influencing positive change at all levels of a large and complex organisation
• Comfortable in proactively challenging internal policy, practices and communications to better include marginalised groups
• Experience of designing and delivering resources and training around EDI in a range of formats to meet the learner where they are in terms of their understanding and needs 
• Strong experience of project management to enable work to be planned and delivered to a high quality, on time and within resource capacity
• Experience in contributing to change management and enabling organisational transition to new processes
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills

We are looking for an experienced Campaigns Manager, who is passionate about driving change and has knowledge and experience of Communications and managing staff. This is a temporary post, whilst we go out to recruitment for a permanent post, during the busiest time of the year for White Ribbon.

The post holder will be leading our national flagship campaign – White Ribbon Day (25th November) and the following 16 days of activism, ensuring existing plans are fully developed and delivered and the campaign meets its goals and targets. 

This will involve managing and working with the Campaigns Officer, the Communications Officer and a freelance and part time Project Officer (for the Portraits Project) and additional freelance and part time Communications Officer (for social media).  You will need to manage our outsourcing contract with PIC PR (marketing agency) in an effective manner, to achieve our campaign goals.

Close working with the Business Development Manager and the Accreditation and Training team will be required. 

You will be responsible for monitoring, evaluation and reporting to the Board of Trustees on the success of the campaign.

You will need to manage the project budget, reporting to our Finance Manager, and ensure that our campaign sponsors are happy.

We need a strong team-player and self-starter who can respond to all enquiries coming into the advice service and who knows when to seek further support, guidance, or information from the rest of the team.

Our advice and information manager, who works 3 days a week, will retain overall responsibility for the advice service provision, bringing the intelligence themes from the advice service to the wider training and advocacy work of Birthrights. You will be supported by the manager to respond and to confidentially record advice enquiries on two days a week, working directly with the advice and information manager and our Legal Lead on any more challenging enquiries that require a response beyond giving individual advice. For example, Birthrights might write directly to a Trust or raise themes from our advice work with the NMC or the Royal Colleges. You will coordinate your schedule with the existing Advice and Information Officer and Manager to ensure that two team members are available throughout the week, with overlap in working days for collaborative working and team meetings.

You will be an integral part of our team. We have a weekly advice team meeting and monthly team meetings. We use Microsoft Teams messaging and calls to support one another and to communicate throughout the day.
