London Support Programme - Prison Caseworker

Location: This programme is currently delivered at HMP Downview and HMP High Down. Future delivery is anticipated at HMP Standford Hill, HMP Ford, and/or HMP Coldingley. Administrative tasks may be carried out remotely from home, or from our London office, near Vauxhall.

Contract: 12 months, with the possibility of a permanent position thereafter, subject to funding availability

Role summary

The London Support Programme (LSP) is a pilot service delivered by the Hardman Trust, providing pre- and post-release support to people on long sentences who are returning to London. This first year of delivery has enabled us to begin offering support, and we are now refining the programme for its next stage.

We are recruiting two part-time, Prison Caseworkers to deliver frontline support, ensuring that people serving long sentences continue to receive consistent, personalised help in preparing for release and rebuilding their lives.

As a Prison Caseworker, you will provide one-to-one, person-centred support focused on wellbeing, confidence-building, and preparation for life after release.
You will support people to set meaningful goals, connect with services, and problem-solve challenges along the way.

The role involves building trusting relationships, promoting the programme across the prison, keeping accurate records, and contributing to the continued development of this pilot into a sustainable, long-term service.

You will be managed and supported by the Head of Service Delivery.

Core responsibilities

• One-to-one support delivery – Provide tailored support to people in prison signed up to the LSP, including initial support planning, goal-setting, problem-solving and referrals to both internal (e.g. Grants, Research Volunteers, Penfriends) and external services.

• Remote support – Provide light-touch support to LSP participants released from prison, during their initial weeks of resettlement, using telephone/video calls, and email to check in, offer guidance, and help address early challenges.

• Service promotion – Actively promote the LSP within pilot and potential partner prisons to increase sign-ups and engagement.

• Administration – Keep accurate, timely records of support activities and outcomes using Salesforce and NOMIS systems.

• Service development – Support the Head of Service Delivery by contributing learning and feedback from frontline delivery, to inform the ongoing refinement of the programme model and resources.

• Collaboration & team contribution - Work closely with colleagues to promote products and services, gather and analyse user feedback, and ensure continuous improvement. Contribute to organisational reporting, monitoring, and evaluation.

• General - Participate in regular one-to-ones, contributing to the identification of objectives and professional development goals. Work in line with the Hardman Trust’s values, actively contributing to a culture of learning, reflection, team work and development, ensuring quality in your work. Undertake other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the role, as may be reasonably required by the Hardman Trust.

Person specification
Essential:

• Commitment to the values, vision, and mission of the Hardman Trust.

• Experience of working within prisons.

• Ability to build rapport and trusting relationships with a diverse range of people

• Experience using case management systems, such as NOMIS and Salesforce.

Tasks

Under the supervision of the Head of Legal Services:

1. Ability to safeguard vulnerable adults

2. Help clients obtain documents required prior to initial interviews including client care letters, interview records, refusal letters and judges determinations

3. Interview clients face to face or by telephone in order to understand why they have been refused and what steps can be taken to challenge this and so access housing and support

4. Write up casenotes as required

5. Draft and finalise letter of advice

6. Carry out follow up work including referrals to help clients access help including legal advice, housing and financial support.

7. Meet face to face with clients to explain why they have been refused and what steps they can take to challenge this.

8. Work with interpreters to ensure clients able to fully understand all steps of the process

As Communications Officer, you will help us put communications at the centre of our new strategy. The Partnerships and Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in the team securing critical income from global and national corporate partners and from our network of committed community fundraisers.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Fundraising

· Take the lead on managing a portfolio of small and medium corporate partners - taking responsibility for all aspects of these partnerships, including communication, staff activities, events, reporting, income collection and acknowledgements

· Provide support to the Senior P&P Manager in activities relating to OSUK’s global corporate partners through managing employee-led activities across the portfolio.

· To manage and develop new initiatives for employee engagement and community participants

· Support on new business acquisition, specifically in creating new avenues for income generation through existing partnerships.

· Responsible for managing inbound enquiries relating to corporate partnerships

· Lead on producing corporate-related social media and communications content

· Maintain orderly upkeep of all relevant records and databases

Community Fundraising

· Lead on the handling of all inbound community fundraising correspondence, including donations received, merchandise and speaking requests

· Develop a strong understanding of fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse, maintaining their upkeep and reconciliation with Operation Smile's financial and reporting systems

Additional Responsibilities

· Expand your understanding of Operation Smile’s programmatic work globally, of cleft lip and palate conditions, health system strengthening and the global surgery sector

· Support other areas of the Partnership Team’s work, including events.

The Role:

• Responsible to the Housing Manager for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused housing service to ex-service personnel and their dependents.
• To provide an effective and responsive housing management service for a patch of Stoll properties, meeting agreed performance outcomes and objectives for key

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact in relation to housing applicants, ensuring that all data is recorded accurately on the housing database, and the waiting list is

We are looking for two Funding Officers to join the enthusiastic, friendly North West Region.

• Role one: One Full Time Funding Officer, based in the Greater Manchester team
• Role two: One Full Time Funding Officer, based in the Lancashire team. 

You will play a major role in ensuring our funding supports a wide variety of communities and places across Greater Manchester/Lancashire and the North West region.

As a member of the funding team you will assess applications for funding and manage grants from our Reaching Communities and Partnerships programmes. You will use your local knowledge and experience, and the experience of our grant holders and local stakeholders, to ensure we are making the best decisions on the grants we make. By working closely with people and communities from a defined geographical area, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference.

In your role you will work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, in line with our vision and principles.  You will gain an understanding of our vision, our commitment to equity and inclusion and our funding programmes. 

The role is varied and will require you to: 

• Be responsible for your own caseload: visiting projects, liaising with grant recipients, identify and manage risks and supporting organisations to delivery their projects and measure their impact.
• Understand and respond to the different needs of our applicants and grant holders by providing advice and feedback and be willing to have challenging but constructive conversations.
• Represent the Fund within your local area, at funding fairs and external meetings and create opportunities for people to come together.
• Share learning from your conversations, events, grant holder reports and evaluations to support the Fund in maximining our impact as a grant maker. 

Working from home, our Manchester office and community locations, the successful candidate will live in Greater Manchester/Lancashire and will be part of the local team, led by Funding Managers, and comprised of several other Funding Officers.  Travel across the region will be required.

As Head of High Value Events, you will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of a portfolio of high-value fundraising and engagement events. You will provide advice on empty homes options to owners, neighbours, potential buyers, and practitioners, responding to enquiries by phone and email with a focus on assessing needs and achieving desired outcomes. The role involves advocating for clients with other agencies, maintaining high standards to meet contractual and professional targets, and accurately recording information on our case management system. You will identify cases needing further advice and make referrals where necessary, collaborating with Shelter services and other agencies. Empowering clients to self-help, keeping advice knowledge up to date, and working within the service’s operating model are key. You will also provide written advice confirmations, update online advice resources, contribute to marketing efforts such as events and social media, and carry out other duties as directed by your line manager.

The key duties of the Lead Accountant (Capital) will be:

• Full membership of CIMA, CCAB or equivalent, with post-qualification experience.

• Experience of treasury, audit or statutory accounts would be advantageous.
