What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.

As an Education Worker, you’ll always be delivering the programme as part of your centre team, which means that any delivery is always a team effort. 

The Psychologist/Psychotherapist will deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological interventions, providing psychological assessments, formulations, and therapeutic support to asylum seekers and refugees with complex trauma-related mental health needs. This role will focus on the delivery of trauma-informed care, including interventions such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).

The psychologist/psychotherapist will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with caseworkers, assistant psychologists, and other stakeholders to ensure the integration of psychological services into broader psycho-social support. A key responsibility is supporting and supervising assistant psychologists in the delivery of interventions, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and the service’s ethical standards.

HOURS: Full time 37.5 hours a week

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract, one year with possibility of three-year renewal, subject to project funding

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a Substance Use Worker post to work within a unique and innovative team -YCSMAS (Youth Counselling, Substance Misuse and Alcohol Service). YCSMAS sits within Young Islington, an HMIP assessed outstanding Local Authority. You will be:

• leading on work with Schools, Alternative Provisions and Transitions
• providingsubstance use support, education sessions, and outreach services to young people aged 12 to 21 years
• providing drug awareness training to professionals, parents and carers, residents
• working alongside Targeted Youth Support (TYS), Islington Youth Justice Service (YJS) and Islington Collaborative Action Network (I-CAN).

YCSMAS is an integrated team providing mental health support from the TYS Youth Counselling Service and substance use support from the Islington Young people's Drug and Alcohol Service (IYPDAS) to over 200 young people per year.

About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Financial Planning & Analysis with FP&A experience to join our Finance Team as maternity cover for up to 12 months.

You will be a key member of the finance team, engaging with key stakeholders across the organisation and responsible for the delivery of accurate, consistent reporting and forecasts of financial performance; leading the production of monthly management accounts; the analysis of financial performance; the budgeting and forecasting cycle and the long term planning for the charity.

This is an exciting period of change in the finance team with the implementation of a new finance system in October (Microsoft’s Business Central). This role will be key in leading that post implementation period to ensure the benefits are felt within the Finance team and the organisation more widely.

The role holder will ensure that the new finance system is utilised to drive significant improvements in reporting and forecasting, including tighter reporting and forecasting timeframes, improvements in management reports and information, enhanced models for use in financial planning.

The role holder is accountable for the development and delivery of team plans, the management of the Finance Business Partners and the Management Accountant.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Manage the processes for setting the charity’s financial plans, including agreeing the timetables and deliverables for presentation to the Executive Team and Finance Committee.
• Manage the month end process taking ownership for the timely delivery of clear, accurate monthly management accounts and monthly Finance report.
• Leading on successfully embedding the new finance system with the Finance team (& the wider organisation) to realise improvements in management reporting and financial planning.
• Understand variances in monthly financial performance and enable the explanation of these clearly and concisely to the Director of Corporate Services, Executive Team and Trustees.
• Develop insights and make proactive proposals to budget holders on financial opportunities for efficiency or improving value for money.
• Build strong relationships with the Executive Team, Associate Directors and Heads of and be regarded as trusted source of financial support and guidance and leveraging these relationships to ensure Finance received the support it needs to meet its objectives.
• Manage the two Finance Business Partners and Income Management Accountant providing them with the appropriate support and guidance to ensure they meet their objectives and development needs.

You will work alongside the financial resilience project to deliver a programme of involvement activities both for Birmingham Hub and the wider organisation, making sure that the views and experiences of individuals with lived experience shapes and informs all of Shelter’s work. People can take part in a variety of way such as involvement groups, taking part in events within local communities, co-designing services and campaigns and speaking out about the housing emergency by sharing their stories.

About you

You will need experience of facilitating involvement groups and other activities to support and involve people with lived experience in Shelter’s work. You will have a flair for developing successful relationships with colleagues across Shelter, as well as external local organisations and partners. About the Team

At Birmingham Hub we have around 25 staff plus volunteers and specialise in providing housing advice and homelessness work, with a particular focus on families and individuals experiencing multiple disadvantage. We work in partnership with a range of organisations to improve the underlying systems that prevent people from living securely in suitable, safe, affordable homes. We currently have a 3 year partnership with a leading bank which aims to build financial resilience and break the cycle of poor financial health which negatively impacts people’s housing situation.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a Peer Support Worker, you will manage a caseload of clients requiring early intervention or preventative mental health support, delivering individual and group-based activities that promote recovery, wellbeing, and community engagement. You will clearly communicate the service's aims and pathways, enabling clients to co-produce their support plans and empowering them to engage with professionals across housing, health, employment, and social care. Working flexibly within a team, you will ensure service coverage, uphold safety and safeguarding procedures, and support the delivery of co-produced peer networks and community initiatives. You will also maintain accurate records, ensure timely referrals and assessments, and participate in supervision and development processes, all while contributing to a high-quality, person-centred service.

Here's what the team will be looking for:

A candidate will have lived experience of navigating mental health care pathways, such as emergency department visits, acute admissions, or engagement with community mental health services, and a strong understanding of the issues faced by individuals with a range of mental health conditions. They will demonstrate the ability to offer support with empathy, dignity, and respect, while rapidly building trust with service users, carers, professionals, and peer workers. Excellent verbal and listening skills are essential for engaging effectively during crises and in day-to-day interactions, both face-to-face and over the phone. The candidate will also have a good understanding of local mental health and wellbeing services, recovery tools, and safeguarding practices, with the ability to assess needs, risks, and aspirations and provide appropriate signposting. Strong prioritisation, time management, and the ability to work dynamically under pressure are key, alongside good literacy and numeracy skills, proficiency in IT including MS Word, Outlook, and internet use, and the ability to produce clear written correspondence. They must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, support the induction of new peer staff and volunteers, and demonstrate excellent communication and partnership-building skills to contribute positively to a person-centred, recovery-focused service.

About the role

As a Housing Officer (Homeownership), you’ll be the go-to expert for our homeowner customers - handling a wide range of complex queries around leases, transfers, property management, and service charges. We are looking for Sessional Workers to support Advance’s Criminal Justice Services. Advance’s Criminal Justice Services work with women involved in the Criminal Justice System offering safe, targeted support and advocacy to women to help them address their complex needs in relation to the 9 pathways to offending, such as substance misuse and financial difficulties, aiming to reduce re-offending, encourage desistance amongst repeat offenders, and empower women to live safe, crime free lives.

You will be working in a team of Community Keyworkers in your region. Each Keyworker will provide one to one community support to women with a variety of needs simultaneously and will be co-located with partner organisations in their region. You will be expected to travel to Advance’s Head office in London for any organisational meetings and training, as and when required.
