JOB BRIEF

We are seeking a strategic and persuasive Lobbyist to join our advocacy team at The IWI: International Women’s Initiative. In this critical position, you will leverage your extensive political acumen and strategic insight to influence legislation and policy on behalf of The IWI. The Lobbyist will play a critical part in shaping public policy and advocacy initiatives that align with our mission and objectives. They will serve as a key liaison between our organisation and governmental entities, ensuring that our interests are effectively represented and advanced. Ideal candidates for this role possess a keen understanding of advocacy, the legislative process, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to the human rights of women. We encourage applicants who may not meet every requirement to apply. Your unique experiences and perspectives could be a valuable addition to our team. As an organisation which is run 100% by volunteers, this position will move to a paid position in the near future. PERFORMED REMOTELY

RESPONSIBILITIES

o Establish and maintain relationships with elected officials, policymakers, community leaders, coalitions, advocacy                     groups and other stakeholders to promote The IWI's objectives;

o Monitor and report on legislative developments and emerging issues that may impact The IWI;

o Collaborate with internal teams to align lobbying efforts with broader organisational goals and messaging;

o Draft and advocate policy proposals, position papers, policy briefs, reports, and testimony to articulate our stance on key           issues, while representing The IWI in public forums;

o Prepare reports and recommendations for senior staff;

o Draft and disseminate press releases, position papers, and other communication materials to promote The IWI                         advocacy initiatives;

o Utilise social media platforms to enhance public engagement and support for The IWI lobbying efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

o 5+ years of experience in lobbying, public policy, or government relations, with a proven track record of successful                     advocacy efforts;

o Deep understanding of the legislative process and the political landscape, particularly as it relates to CEDAW;

o Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively;

o Experience in developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including lawmakers, industry               groups, and grassroots organisations;

o Previous experience in government or advocacy roles;

o Strong network of contacts within the legislative and regulatory community;

o Strong understanding of legislative processes, political systems, and stakeholder engagement strategies;

o Able to work independently with minimal supervision;

o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

o Advanced degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field;

o Experience in women’s human rights relevant to The IWI's mission;

o Proven ability to navigate complex political environments and build consensus among diverse groups;

o Membership in relevant professional organisations or certifications in lobbying or advocacy is a plus.

o Proficiency in using advocacy management software and tools for tracking legislation and stakeholder engagement;

Urban Youth is a brand-new youth work charity being set up to build a vibrant community for young people across London. Our mission is to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive, develop new skills, discover themselves and reach their full potential.

We are currently in the crucial setup phase and are looking for 1-5 dedicated and passionate Volunteer Trustees to join our Founder and our Treasurer help lay the foundations for Urban Youth. What will you do as a Trustee?

As a Trustee, you'll play a vital role in the legal and strategic oversight of Urban Youth.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing Urban Youth: Working closely with the Founder to define our charitable purposes, choose the most suitable legal structure (e.g., CIO), and draft our core governing documents.

• Charity Registration: Guiding Urban Youth through the application process to register with the Charity Commission, ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements.

• Strategic Direction: Contributing to the development of our long-term vision, values, and initial strategic plans to achieve our mission.

• Governance & Compliance: Ensuring Urban Youth operates legally, ethically, and in line with charity law and best practices.

• Financial Oversight: Providing financial oversight of Urban Youth, ensuring that all funds are spent on our mission, setting up robust financial controls and helping to secure initial funding for essential operations.

Who are we looking for?

We're seeking individuals who are not only passionate about youth work but also bring valuable skills and experience to our founding board.

You should be:

• Committed: Dedicated to Urban Youth's mission and willing to commit time to regular meetings (initially more frequent during setup) and responsibilities.

• Independent Thinkers: Able to provide objective oversight, constructive challenge, and sound judgment.

• Collaborative: Enthusiastic about working as part of a small, founding team.

• Experienced: While we welcome diverse backgrounds, experience in any of the following areas would be particularly valuable but not essential:

Village Athlete

Village Athlete is a global nonprofit that builds youth-designed sport courts in rural African communities, using art, play, and storytelling to power equity and joy.

Village Athlete addresses the lack of access to safe play spaces for children in rural African communities, a critical social issue often overlooked. Without these spaces, millions of kids miss out on the physical, emotional, and developmental benefits of sport and play. We also confront inequities in youth empowerment, creative expression, and community infrastructure, while promoting sustainable, locally-driven solutions that uplift both social and environmental well-being.

Village Athlete creates safe, inclusive multi-sport courts that are co-designed by the youth in the communities we serve. Through art workshops, children sketch their dream play spaces, which become blueprints for real-world builds. We then turn their artwork into merchandise that funds future courts, creating a self-sustaining loop of play, creativity, and impact. Our model empowers youth, strengthens communities, and makes play a right, not a privilege.

We're looking for a creative and passionate Marketing & Social Media Volunteer to help us share our story, grow our online community, and inspire action. You’ll work directly with our founder to turn key moments into engaging content and campaigns that amplify our message of play equity.

Volunteers help to keep our UK charity shops running like clockwork and are an essential part of everything that we do. Our charity shops raise vital funds that support the wide range of services Age UK delivers, so if you have some free time available and would like to help, we’d love to hear from you! Whether you are looking to gain new skills and experiences, use those you already have or are just looking for a way to get out and meet new people, then we have flexible options to suit you! What will you be doing?

Volunteer Shop Assistants carry out a wide range of tasks in their roles. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, keeping our shop floor full and organised or supporting with raffle ticket sales and promoting gift aid.

How would you be supported in this role?

When you begin your role, you will receive a mix of e-learning and in-person training to get you started.
