INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE
Girls Not Brides is looking for a Head of Research, Evidence and Learning to lead the secretariat’s work on research, evidence, data and learning to inform impactful action on ending child, early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU). The successful candidate leads the Evidence and Learning Team and works closely with all teams to ensure Girls Not Brides is a go-to and trusted source for evidence and shared learning on what works to address CEFMU and support married girls, globally and in priority regions where we work. The role holder ensures the Girls Not Brides secretariat is a highly effective learning and knowledge hub on CEFMU, co-creating and sharing collective insights and evidence to strengthen our programme, advocacy and policy work driving impact across the movement.
Working closely with Teams in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), they provide strategic leadership to increase uptake of research, evidence and collective knowledge by member organisations to enable more effective evidence-based action to end child marriage at all levels. Moreover, the role ensures we continue to play a leading role in coordinating global, regional and national evidence generation through convening diverse stakeholders, identifying evidence gaps and catalyzing collective efforts to strengthen the evidence base on what works to end child marriage.
In close collaboration with the Director of Learning, Evidence and Impact, the Head of Research, Evidence and Learning plays a leadership role in ensuring the timely and quality implementation and delivery of two key areas of the Strategic Objective on Learning of Girls Not Brides’ Secretariat Strategy 2022-2025. The role holder will work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and Impact team withing the same directorate but will not lead on the organisation’s MEAL work.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and inclusive leader with demonstrable experience in research, evidence and learning and supporting the uptake of evidence for programming, advocacy and policy influencing gender justice and social change issues. The ideal candidate will be an empowering and collaborative team leader, who is able to provide strategic leadership as well as be a good people manager. We are not looking for a MEAL specialist, but rather an individual who has experience and knowledge of translating research, data and evidence into impactful advocacy and programming.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads Girls Not Brides work to leverage knowledge, learning and evidence for impactful action to address child early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU) across the movement.
- In close collaboration with the Director for Learning, Evidence and Impact, plays a leadership role in ensuring the timely and quality implementation and delivery of two key areas of the Strategic Objective on Learning of Girls Not Brides’ Secretariat Strategy 2022-2025, namely: 1) “Highly effective learning and knowledge hub co-creating and sharing collective insights and evidence to drive impact”, 2) “Stronger coordination of global, regional, and national evidence generation which supports the movement’s efforts to accelerate change to end child marriage”.
- Using a collaborative approach, manages a effective Evidence and Learning Team, consisting of up to five individuals, including performance management, professional development and providing ongoing support to individuals.
- As a member of the Advisory Management Team, contributes to key internal strategic and decision-making spaces.
- Works closely with the Teams in Africa, Asia and LAC, as well as the Impact and Global Advocacy teams to deliver the organisation’s learning priorities and ambition.
- Leads the Learning Team’s strategy and work planning, budgeting, and tracking of progress against the organisation’s key performance indicators.
- Contributes to development of funding proposals as requested.
- Leads the Learning Team’s work on ensuring Girls Not Brides is a go-to and trusted source for evidence and shared learning on what works to end CEFMU and support married girls.
Leads Girls Not Brides’ work as a global knowledge and learning hub.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ Knowledge and Learning Hub, that ensures the secretariat is a go-to place for learning and evidence on CEFMU.
- Working with the Learning Team, oversees knowledge management activities for Girls Not Brides ensuring the organisation has the latest learning, evidence and data on CEFMU and has up-to-date evidence-based key messages on CEFMU and relevant topics.
- Oversees the development of learning resources and opportunities on ending child marriage, including the development of thematic briefs, learning or research webinars, capacity enhancement sessions, peer learning sessions, etc.
- Works closely with Learning Team and teams in Africa, Asia and LAC to identify and respond to learning priorities of members organisations in the Global Partnership.
- In close collaboration with Heads of Africa, Asia and LAC Teams, oversees the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides learning offer with National/State Partnerships, coalitions and members.
- In close collaboration with Teams in Africa, Asia and LAC, ensures the Secretariat works effectively with member organisations to document, collate and share information and evidence on what works to end CEFMU, and supports effective action and results within the global Partnership and broader movement.
- Oversees the timely and effective dissemination of key evidence and learning to all audiences through different channels e.g. newsletter, webinar, etc.
Leads on the uptake of knowledge, learning and evidence by member organisations to increase the quality and impact of programming and evidence-based influencing.
Working closely with the Learning Team and colleagues in Africa, Asia and LAC teams:
- Supports the facilitation of knowledge exchange with and between member organisations, National and State Partnerships and coalitions and the broader movement.
- Ensures Girls Not Brides provides technical assistance on learning, data and evidence to selected National/State Partnerships and coalitions to inform and strengthen their collective advocacy and programming.
- Contributes to translate learning and knowledge into impactful advocacy and policy influencing initiatives and programmes.
Oversees Girls Not Brides’ role to promote a stronger coordination of evidence generation at all levels.
- Working closely with the Research Manager, oversees the work of the Child Marriage Research to Action Network (CRANK) to support stronger coordination of global, regional, and national evidence generation which supports the movement’s efforts to accelerate change to end child marriage.
- Contributes to reinforce strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and to position Girls Not Brides with key research actors in the field such as the UN, academics, think tanks, etc. for better coordination in the field and stronger strategic collaborations.
- Works closely with the Research Manager, to provide strategic direction and advice to Teams in Africa, Asia and LAC for a stronger coordination of evidence generation at regional and national level.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential experience
- Post graduate degree in a relevant area, such as social science, development studies, international relations, human rights or gender, or relevant proven professional experience.
- Significant experience in learning, evidence and research and supporting the uptake of evidence to strengthen programming, advocacy and policy outcomes and influencing on gender justice and social change issues.
- Proven experience in developing and managing effective and impactful teams, including strong and inclusive people management, line management of individuals, performance management, fostering ongoing professional development, team planning and budgeting.
- Track record of embedding a learning culture at the organisational level
- Demonstrable experience of designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative research and evaluations
- Knowledge and experience of gender transformative approaches and its application in research, programme and network spaces.

Charity Overview: Black Country Foodbank is a Christian charity that works within the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton supporting a network of Foodbanks provide emergency food and toiletry parcels to those in crisis. BCFB provided over half a million meals in 2023 and continues to address deepening demand. Through a network of Foodbanks our volunteers serve a wide demographic of people who have been affected by food poverty.

Position Overview: The Deputy CEO/Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the charity. The successful candidate will oversee the operational aspects of the charity and functions to ensure efficiency, while also actively expanding the services across the boroughs with new initiatives. This role will enable the charity to break new ground, expand wrap around services whilst expanding and developing our core - distribution of food and toiletries to those who are in crisis.
This is an exciting opportunity to become immersed in the everyday activities of the charity, whilst playing an integral role in the strategic planning and implementation of new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to all, right across the charity, securing the confidence and trust of others, building relationships and a deep understanding of all the stakeholders. Able to manage the business of the charity and deputise for the CEO.
2. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff and volunteers. Leading on volunteer recruitment, staff and volunteer appraisals/training and general well-being. Ensuring staff and volunteer policies and procedures are kept up to date, reviewed and developed according to current legislation.
3. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CEO and team to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives aligned with the charities mission, vision, and values.
4. Performance Monitoring: Writing reports including data and stories and feeding back, presenting to the staff, volunteers and the Board of Trustees relating to all aspects of the role.
5. Fundraising: Work with the CEO to devise a fundraising strategy that ensures a sustainable income from a variety of donors. From physical donations of food and toiletries to new projects. From Hi Vis jackets to salaries, fundraising will always be on the agenda and at the forefront of this role.
6. Process Optimisation: Identify opportunities for process improvement across all operational areas helping the charity to run as smoothly as possible.
7. Resource Allocation: Manage budgets, resources, funding pots and assets effectively, ensuring optimal utilisation and allocation to support operational objectives and financial targets.
8. Compliance and Risk Management: Working with the staff and vol team to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies, managing risks and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate potential issues.
9. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including foodbanks, volunteers, partners, and statutory agencies, to support charity objectives and build on the established positive reputation. Identify and nurture new collaborations and relationships that deliver on our strategic objectives. Identify and build our corporate partners, encouraging working together for the good of community.
10. Ambassadorial role: represent BCFB to the media, at external events and publicity opportunities.

13. Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing operations, preferably within the charity sector.

The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities.
You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. Working with the other Grants Officers and the rest of the Team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Academy grant holders, as well as contribute to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our new strategy.
About the role – what you will be doing.
- Administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grant schemes
- Processing applications, determining eligibility, and coordinating peer review of eligible applications.
- Convening and supporting the awarding panel, including preparation of committee papers, reports and financial information, as well as preparing feedback to applicants.
- Managing the new grants once awarded, along with the Academy’s existing portfolio of grants.
- Supporting the monitoring of awards and evaluation of grants schemes.

The Role (30hrs per week)

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

Support Team Management (50%)

The NSPCC’s mission is to end cruelty to children. This is what drives their income generation team to get out there and bring in the funds needed to protect children and prevent abuse.
Due to the formation of the new Wales Fundraising Board, an exciting new role has been created to help deliver a portfolio of corporate partnerships and events, to identify and secure new corporate partnerships and support the work of the wider UK team. The postholder will need to ideally be within or close to South Wales as regular contact with prospects and partners will be required.
As Corporate Partnerships Manager – Wales, you will be supported by the Supporter Fundraising Manager (your line manager), and work alongside a Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager and Senior Philanthropy Manager. About the role
As The National Partnership Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Strategic Partnerships & Business Development function for Scotland. Mile End Climbing Wall (MECW) is the trading name of the charity Development through Challenge (DtC).
Development through Challenge started life as a charity called North London Rescue Commando (NLRC), set up when London was at threat of flood. They moved to the current site from North London, where they had started as a small water sports centre. In the mid-1980s a change in focus led to the formation of Mile End Climbing Wall. It became the climbing wall in London and one of the first climbing walls in England. In 1997 NLRC changed its name to Development through Challenge.
Since then, we have been providing East London and UK climbing communities with high quality climbing and associated facilities that are available to everyone regardless of ability to pay, physical ability, or skill-level. We organise training and challenges that improve people’s wellbeing.
Responsible to the Operations Manager, this position will work with the Senior Managers, Trustees and CEO, to deliver the strategic plan for marketing and communications and manage their operational implementation - including on and offline campaigns, internal and external communications, publications, digital activities, events and PR to raise awareness of brand and reputation and maximise customer and community engagement.

Global Health 50/50 (GH5050) is an independent, evidence-driven initiative to advance action and accountability for gender equality. GH5050 was formed around a unique model which brings together the rigour of academic research, the knowledge of how policy change can occur and the momentum of advocates and communicators to catalyse progress on gender equality. GH5050’s mission is ‘To improve health, well-being, and social justice through the promotion of human rights, particularly in relation to gender equality, by conducting research, disseminating the useful results of such research, and providing information, advice and advocacy.’ Established in 2017, GH5050 is a non-profit organisation (as a UK registered charity) headquartered in Cambridge, UK, that initially focussed on the health sector and is increasingly active in the justice and finance systems, globally and at country level.
Context
Through our flagship annual report and Gender and Health Index, GH5050 provides the only bird’s-eye view of gender, inclusion and equality in the global health sector today. The report assesses 200 organisations annually across a core set of variables on policies and practices to tackle power and privilege imbalances within the workplace, the gender and geography of organisational leadership, and whether gender is considered in any organisations' external-facing programmatic or policy work.
Based on an approach honed over seven years by Global Health 50/50, GH5050 is planning to produce rigorous data on the state of gender equality, including within career opportunities / structures, in the law/justice, and finance/economics sectors. In the law/justice sector we will review approximately 200 organisations at the global level, and then apply a similar approach and methodology at the country level (likely to be Kenya and one other country). Working with research and advocacy partners, supported by an advisory group, legal experts and a team of research consultants, GH5050 also plans to leverage the data to engage with the assessed organisations directly. The work undertaken by GH5050 in the law/justice sector is part of a wider advocacy coalition supported by the funder aiming to drive organisational change for a more diverse, inclusive and equitable global legal sector.
The successful candidate for this post is expected to play an integral role in contributing to the growth of GH5050, as well as taking a leading role in developing, managing, growing and taking ownership for this new area of work.
Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the world’s leading research and accountability initiatives for gender equality. You will join a small and growing team of staff working at GH5050, taking responsibility for the first (and subsequent) Gender, Law and Justice Report(s) (title TBA). The role will involve project design and management, conducting research and policy analysis, maintaining strong working relationships with partner organisations as well as with other GH5050 staff, dissemination, engagement and impact. These roles will be exercised at global and country levels. The post holder will share responsibility with the Head of Research & Impact for the management of research consultants working on the law and justice workstream.

Role Responsibilities

Project design and management: Project manage the full process of developing the GH5050 Gender, Law and Justice reports, policy briefs, case studies of organisational change, and a range of outputs tailored to meet the goals of the GH5050 Strategy. Oversee the production processes from research and analysis to drafting and production of GH5050 outputs, and the research team and consultants. Work closely with the finance officer on budgeting and financial reporting.

Team recruitment, leadership/management and research coordination: Hire, onboard and train teams of data collectors and provide regular support and quality control. Oversee and support the research team, develop project plans, arrange regular project meetings, and ensure that project deliverables are met and produced in a rigorous and timely manner.

Internal communications: Take responsibility for maintaining regular and comprehensive internal communications within the charity, reporting on progress and flagging any risks or challenges to project timelines.

Consultant management and liaison: Identify and recruit consultants for specific tasks to produce GH5050 outputs. Supervise consultants’ work to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Liaise with team consultants on various tasks during the report production process.

Conduct research, data validation and analysis: Undertake research and data collection for reports and other outputs, including literature research on organisational policies and practices, policy content analysis and workforce data extraction. Thoroughly review and validate research findings of data collection team. Ensure research methodologies are kept up to date and ensure the timely delivery of quality outputs, including on statistical analysis, writing, data validation, data visualization, graphic design and layout, and the production of dissemination and communications materials.

Database management: Manage, validate, clean and store large and complex datasets.

Stakeholder management: Be a trusted first point of contact for organisations who are reviewed as part of the GH5050 report. This includes preparing and distributing formal communications to CEOs and a designated focal point within each organisation, responding to queries, and managing the process of data validation with organisations.

Partnership building and management: Be responsible for ensuring a productive and equitable relationship with research partners, advocacy partners, and advisory/expert groups. Prepare reports for Trustees and funders.

Report production: Prepare drafts of reports including in collaboration with professional writers when appropriate, to identify the key messages and key findings, data visualisations, background and other written contributions, such as forewords and quotes. Liaise with web designers, who will build data validation platforms and a new website to host the reports, and report design teams.

High-impact communication and dissemination: Work closely with the GH5050 and communications lead as well as an external communications partner to develop strategic communication and dissemination strategies for these research outputs. This includes preparing compelling key findings and messages from report research and developing a range of additional communications outputs for key stakeholders including presentations, policy briefs, op-eds and papers for peer-reviewed publications and ensuring the delivery of public events and launches.

PhD level qualification preferred. If Masters level qualification then equivalent and demonstrable relevant professional level experience

Experience conducting mixed methods research, including innovative methods of data collection, indicator development, database management, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation

About the Service
Within the London Borough of Islington we run a comprehensive range of community based provision for survivors. At the core is our Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) service which support those at the highest risk of harm. We have a number of specialist roles and pan-borough project, which provide targeted support to providers and work closely in conjunction with partner services and work with over 500 survivors each year.
About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional leader to lead on delivery of our community based support within the London Borough of Islington. These services include core IDVA teams and additional specialist roles, often supporting survivors at the point of crisis and highest risk. You will take a lead role in ensuring the high standards we set are achieved and identifying where and how we can make improvements. You will lead on development and maintenance of effective commissioning relationships and be able to identify and develop opportunities for service enhancement and growth.
About You
You will have leadership experience in a VAWG or other service delivery organisation which includes management of different service elements. You will be comfortable with managing risk and a calm, reflective operational leader able to support staff who are often working in crisis response mode. You will have used your experience of working in a service delivery environment to identify and implement service improvements. You will have good data literacy and eye for detail, particularly around service utilisation and reporting.
