As a Public Fundraising Assistant, you’ll help deliver engaging face-to-face and telephone fundraising campaigns to grow Dogs Trust’s supporter base. Working in our Public Fundraising team, you’ll play a key role in helping us care for thousands of dogs across the UK.
 

What does this role do?
As a Public Fundraising Assistant, you will: 

• respond to public enquiries, complaints, and donation updates related to face-to-face fundraising, ensuring all communications reflect the Dogs Trust brand, tone, and procedures.
• liaise with fundraising agencies to monitor campaign performance, resolve incidents or complaints, and ensure all campaign requirements are met.
• support quality assurance by reviewing mystery shop reports, visiting fundraising sites or agencies, and providing feedback to improve performance.
• assist with administrative and campaign support tasks, including managing fundraising materials, handling database queries, and helping with copy and proofing when required.

This role is being offered as a fixed term, family leave cover contract until December 2026.

Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 2nd December 2025.

Job Title: Community Fundraising Assistant

Reporting To: Running & Challenge Manager

Salary: £26,066 - £30,523

Hours: 37.5 hours per week*

Location: Alder Hey Children’s Charity, based within Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool. Due to the nature and requirements of the role, the post holder will need to work onsite with occasional flexible working dependant on team capacity.

This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction equipment designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. We also fund a range of programmes and special projects such as our ward musicians, our on-site magician and the play specialists we have on every ward.

Job Purpose:

This role calls for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised person who shares our values. The role will play a vital part in supporting the day-to-day activity of the Community Fundraising Team in undertaking a wide variety of fundraising activities.

Main Duties and Tasks:

Administration

• Support the Community Fundraising Team with the administration of bespoke, third party and donor led events. Including (but not limited to) sending packs and resources out, communication of event information and appropriate thanking.
• Manage the Community Fundraising email inbox.
• Diarise Community Fundraising team meetings, take appropriate minutes and distribute actions.
• Manage the Community Fundraising shared drive and filing system.
• Work with the Community Fundraiser to identify potential Young Ambassadors and create Ambassador Packs.
• Manage the stock control of Community Event Resources.
• Audit and monitor the Charity collection boxes.
• Manage community contacts within the Charity CRM (Salesforce) ensuring they have up to date information.

Stewardship

• Be the first point of contact for on-line giving donors and monitor the online giving platforms including JustGiving and ensure that each donor has relevant communications.
• Manage the donor led event diary, providing appropriate resources where required.

Reporting

• Produce regular financial and fundraising reports on various Community Fundraising Income streams using the Charity CRM (Salesforce).
• Monitor Community Fundraising income and check it’s appropriately coded on Salesforce.

Communication

• Ensure that relevant members of the Community Fundraising Team are aware of on-line fundraising activity.
• Work alongside the Operations and Finance Teams to monitor income.

Other Duties

• Attendance at community fundraising events.
• Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.
• Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.
• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Charity’s work, priorities and future plans and act as a spokesperson for the Charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate.
• Support the Operations Team when in the office by answering phones and serving on the front desk when the office is busy.
• Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

As Campaigns Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of impactful campaigns led by our Campaign Managers and support high-profile projects like World Animal Day and various events.

To be considered, we’ll be looking for motivated, resilient candidates with relevant experience or skills developed in an animal welfare (or related) degree or more general public policy and campaigning. The successful candidate would need to be organised, with a sharp eye for detail, able to deliver projects on time, whilst working as part of a team. You’ll need a strong ability to multi-task and prioritise, as no day is ever the same.

This is a full time or part time permanent role offering a salary around £23,000, depending on skills and experience.

Advocacy is one of three guiding principles in our 2025-2030 organisational strategy. It underpins all of our work – we advocate for a greater focus on preventing abuse before it happens, not just within the halls of parliament but through all aspects of our work from frontline practice to influencing national policy.

This role sits within the wider Advocacy and Communications Team which supports the promotion of all areas of our work across various channels: websites, social media, press and PR, marketing and digital advertising. Working with the wider team, we are striving to better showcase our advocacy work both internally and externally.

The Role

As Policy and Data Insight Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Cancer Insight Team to develop policy papers and present data on cancer in Yorkshire. You will also provide administrative support across the team to help others deliver a variety of workstreams.

You will perform a range of tasks to support the Cancer Insight Team's goals. This involves informing internal employees, supporters, and the public about the charity’s stance on multiple cancer-related topics. Additionally, you will assist with collecting and sharing data and evidence related to cancer in Yorkshire, crucial for understanding regional needs and shaping the charity’s objectives.

Specifically, you will:

Policy

• Support the Policy Officer to conduct literature reviews and research for policy development and updates.
• Monitor political announcements, health and research policy activity and cancer-related news at a national and regional level to inform the policy workstream.
• Assist with the drafting of consultation responses, policy reports, background resources and ensuring that the correct messages are conveyed in every external-facing communication.

Data

• Support the Data and Impact Officer in the maintenance of a portfolio of regularly updated external data, facts, statistics and evidence relevant to cancer in Yorkshire.
• Support the preparation of reports on various cancer related topics for external and internal audiences, including assisting with the regularly updated factsheets.
• Assist in the preparation of data requests from across the charity - these will largely be to support the Research, Policy & Impact, and Brand & Relationships teams, and could include data and information for press releases, social media, presentations and planning of future work and priority areas.

General

• Handle regular liaison between internal teams e.g. policy development for external dissemination.
• Support Cancer Insight Team members in monitoring and updating timeframes across various projects to ensure outputs are on track to be delivered on time.
• Undertake regular administrative, research and analysis tasks as required for the wider Cancer Insight Team such as across the Public Affairs and Patient & Public Involvement workstreams.
• Provide administrative support in organising meetings and events, as well as taking minutes at internal and external meetings and ensuring tracking of action points.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

· Previous experience in a relevant subject area, for example public health, public policy or similar fields.

· Experience of conducting literature reviews.

· Experience of researching a wide variety of topics and organisations and writing evidence-based documents e.g. summary reports, briefings or consultation responses.

· Experience of analysing and presenting complex data and information, tailored to different audiences.

As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking an HR Assistant to join our team and help us deliver excellent people support across the organisation. 

Role Purpose 

We are looking for an organised and proactive HR Assistant to join our team. This is a new role, providing support to our HR Manager and contributing to the smooth running of HR processes across the organisation. You'll be involved in a wide range of activities including HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, policy management and employee lifecycle processes. The role requires discretion, accuracy and strong communication skills.

This role would be ideal for someone who has recently completed or is currently completing their CIPD Level 3 qualification, although we also welcome applications from candidates with relevant administrative or HR experience who can demonstrate the required skills. 

While ideally, you’ll be able to attend our Victoria office once a week, we welcome applications from strong candidates who may not be able to do so regularly.

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR Manager and wider People Team. 

• Manage the HR inbox, responding to queries and escalating when appropriate. 

• Maintain accurate employee data and records within the HR system (BrightHR). 

• Track key HR dates such as policy reviews, probation periods, appraisals and mandatory training. 

• Support drafting, reviewing, and issuing HR policies and procedures. 

• Assist with recruitment activities, including: 

• Posting vacancies and managing applications 

• Coordinating interviews and candidate communications 

• Preparing interview packs and question sets 

• Conducting reference checks and issuing contracts 

• Coordinate the onboarding process (inductions, system access, equipment requests, documentation). 

• Support offboarding processes, including return of equipment and removal of system access. 

• Arrange logistics for HR-related training sessions and all staff events. 

• Support with DSE assessments and allocation of e-learning modules. 

• Support with the preparation and distribution of internal HR communications. 

• Assist with any remaining administrative tasks related to our upcoming office move. 

• Provide ad-hoc administrative support to the wider Finance & People Team and the CEO as required.
