The Head of Development will be responsible for the creation and implementation of the Development Strategy to deliver the Trust’s external fundraising engagement and hands on delivery of raised income. They will generate sustained income from a range of different sources including sponsorship, local businesses, membership schemes as well as major donors and individual giving. They will work closely with colleagues and consultants to lever grants from trusts and foundations and public grant sources. They will develop audience loyalty, increase membership and grow general donations and legacy income.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Leadership
Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s Development strategy in alignment with the strategic plan, in collaboration with Trustees, senior leadership, and external consultants such as TRG Arts.
Donor & Sponsor Development
Identify, recruit, and cultivate high-net-worth individuals, sponsors and other funding partners. Build trusted relationships and lead on prospect research, cultivation plans, and solicitation strategies.
Trust & Foundations
Build and maintain strong relationships with trusts and foundations, ensuring well-researched and compelling funding proposals. Track funding deadlines and reporting requirements, ensuring high-quality submissions and stewardship.
Revenue Generation & Innovation
Proactively explore and develop new income streams, sponsorship opportunities, and innovative fundraising models, ensuring alignment with the trust’s mission and strategy.
Events & Engagement
Plan and deliver a comprehensive programme of fundraising, cultivation, stewardship, and advocacy events to engage donors and stakeholders.
Communications & Advocacy
Act as a key advocate and ambassador for the trust, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment across fundraising communications, including oversight of the Annual Review.
Data, Reporting & Compliance
Oversee the fundraising database, manage financial reporting, track pledges, and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust was born out of the tragic story of Suzy Lamplugh, a 25-year-old estate agent who went missing whilst at work in 1986, was never found, and was eventually declared deceased in 1993. The Trust was set up in Suzy’s name and continues to be a pioneer in reducing the risk and prevalence of abuse, aggression and violence - with a specific focus on stalking and harassment – through education, campaigning and support.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the delivery and evaluation of national campaigns on workplace safety as well as stalking, harassment and other priority areas.

Maintain effective relationships with civil servants, policy makers, national and local decision makers, and other campaigning bodies and build relevant networks of stakeholders.

Proactively keep abreast of issues within the post-holder’s own portfolio, general criminal justice, personal safety and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) policy developments and up to date campaigning techniques.

To undertake or commission research on specific policy areas as required.

Develop policy recommendations, write policy and campaigns reports, lobby government and other decision makers and stakeholders, and respond on behalf of Suzy Lamplugh Trust to government enquiries, consultations or other relevant initiatives.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Policy and Campaigns Officer is responsible for supporting on Suzy Lamplugh Trust’s policy and campaigning work relating to reducing harassment, violence and aggression in society by addressing these issues at their root cause, working with employers to improve personal safety culture within organisations and seeking to influence policy and legislative change where necessary. This role will also support campaigns that ensure that victims of stalking receive better support and protection.

Key responsibilities
* Monitor and analyse developments in public policy and manage public affairs activity in line with our organisational strategy

The NLT team are passionate about their mission and have a strong and positive working culture, based on shared values and respect. This role is primarily home-based, but you will need to be able to attend the office in London (Vauxhall) at least 2-3 times a month and be willing and able to attend meetings, events and briefings in London on a regular basis. Travel to and from London is not covered by expenses, therefore you will need to be based within easy access to London.

This is an exciting new role to deliver policy change and enhance the rights of children and young people with a learning disability. At a key time to influence Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) education reform, we are seeking a policy specialist to shape policy work that reflects the needs and experiences of children, young people, and their families. Working within the policy team, you will be responsible for developing evidence-based policy work and influencing decision-makers.
This is a full time position (37.5 hours per week). We are flexible with your work location, but there may be some occasional travel needed to our London office or Westminster.
You will:
- Translate complex work into clear and persuasive policy briefings, consultation responses and reports.
- Work within wider coalitions of charities, building collaborative relationships and ensuring that the needs and priorities of our community are addressed.
- Develop and expand Mencap’s ‘Policy Shapers’ work, ensuring our work reflects the experiences of children and young people with a learning disability and their families.

The Role
As Policy Manager you will be the driving force of our policy influencing agenda. We count on you to develop nuanced recommendations, grounded in high-quality research, and to work with policy makers to raise awareness, secure buy-in, and achieve real-world change. Reporting directly to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include:

Monitoring policy developments at the intersection of employment and work-migration. In the short term, in employment you will keep an eye on the Fair Work Agency and the implementation of the government’s Make Work Pay agenda. In immigration, you will monitor developments concerning high-risk employer-sponsored visas.

Producing nuanced analyses that spell out the implications of policy developments in a clear and accessible manner, and conclude with actionable recommendations.

Influencing decision-makers, including government, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and APPGs. This includes evidence submissions, 1:1s, and working in multi-stakeholder environments.

Contributing to research publications that document the systemic drivers of migrant worker exploitation, and draw on best practice to give policy makers options for change.

Contributing to the charity’s strategy, and taking up line management duties as required.
About you

In this role, you’ll monitor political developments, draft compelling policy briefings, consultation responses and parliamentary materials, and engage directly with MPs, officials, and sector partners. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

- Support reactive policy work such as drafting consultation responses, parliamentary debate briefings and summaries, and letters to policy makers; working with the Senior Clinical Advisor and the Head of External Affairs.

The Role
The role is ideal for someone with strong ER and policy writing experience and good knowledge and understanding of UK employment legislation, key HR legislation and HR systems to appropriately advise and lead on ER cases. Ideally you would need to be CIPD part qualified or studying towards a qualification.

What will I be doing?

The Policy and Campaigns Officer will develop policy positions and campaigns that will help ensure that the needs, rights and priorities of those living with DMD are understood and acted on by decision makers, policy makers, parliament and government. The Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Policy and Communications team to support a cohesive and impactful approach to policy, engagement and communications.
Job Description
- To ensure that the charity’s policy and campaigning work is firmly grounded in the views and experiences of the DMD community and to ensure that they are consulted and involved in the development (and delivery where appropriate) of Duchenne UK’s policy positions and campaigns.
