Key responsibilities ​

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will:​​

• Work on the development of technical frameworks, guidelines, standards, certification or audit processes relevant for implementing regulation for children’s rights in the digital environment at international, EU and UK levels. This includes representing 5Rights in technical meetings and working groups, such as at the IEEE and CEN-CENELEC.​

• Work to promote and support the uptake of these standards by the tech industry, including by working with industry associations, chambers of commerce and tech companies directly.​

• Lead our work to gather technical evidence on company compliance with regulation for children in the UK and EU.​

• Identify cases of non-compliance, develop argumentation and engage with companies and regulators for remedy, with legal support as necessary.​

• Work to promote compliance, by supporting public accountability for non-compliance and positive visibility of best practice.​

• Lead our work to raise awareness and stimulate action of industry stakeholders, notably advertisers and investors.​

• Liaise with technologists and experts around the world, exchanging knowledge and staying up to date on the latest developments, research and emerging issues.​

• Oversee the 5Rights Research Officer, research projects and evidence-gathering programmes.​

• Draft briefings for Executive Director and policy leads.​

• Contribute to 5Rights reports, positions, communications and fundraising materials.​

• Represent 5Rights as an expert at meetings and events.​

Person specification​

You’ll be a confident and skilled researcher, a clear, fresh thinker, and an excellent writer. High attention to detail, an eye for nuance, and the ability to digest complex information quickly and communicate it coherently are all musts. A background in technology issues or children’s rights is preferable, but not essential. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who’s thorough, proactive, super smart, and committed to our mission. ​

ESSENTIAL skills and attributes: ​

• In depth knowledge of the technology regulatory landscape from the perspective of privacy, consumer protection or child rights;​

• A strong understanding of the tech industry ecosystem and business models.​

• Experience developing or contributing to tech regulation or technical frameworks.​

• Strong research credentials and the ability to design and oversee technical evidence gathering for corporate compliance;​

Remuneration and details​

• Location: Remote position with employee contract in UK or Belgium. Hybrid working in 5Rights’ London and Brussels co-working office spaces is available.​

• Salary: £43,600-£48,300 for UK-based candidate, with flexibility depending on experience; EUR 61,500-68,100 for a Belgium-based candidate.​

• Working hours: Full time, with some accommodation necessary for work across time-zones and international travel.​

About the role:

The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

 

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. The candidate will have experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work as part of an innovative service, designed to offer multi-disciplinary wrap-around support to women with multiple needs, with the aim of facilitating long-term recovery.

Working within the IT Department, the Senior Support Analyst is the primary resource responsible for advanced 3rd line support of our systems, infrastructure, and networks. This covers both troubleshooting complex issues as they arise, as well as handling system implementations, maintenance, and configuration changes. You will help to ensure our IT services to our residents, members, and the Trust staff, are of the highest quality. In particular you will be responsible for the management of the broader Somerset House wired and wireless networks, resolving network issues, configuring switching, routing, and firewalls. You will lead on the provisioning of IT infrastructure for events and be responsible for the onboarding and continued service delivery of IT and communications services in resident offices and member spaces.

You will work across a range of technologies and systems, from desktops to server to SaaS, maintaining ownership of support cases and project work from start to finish. Additionally, the role will participate in the implementation of various IT solutions and projects as we work to improve our digital capabilities.

What we are looking for:

• Advanced management, maintenance, and configurations of our large site wide network, and to be the point of escalation when there is a service delivery issue. The Cisco Meraki network consists of over 6,500 wired data ports, 335 wireless APs, 179 switches, and carries up to 7,000 clients a day.
• Advanced management, maintenance, and configurations of our additional infrastructure including our on-premises server estate, hybrid Active Directory, Microsoft 365 tenant, and various SaaS solutions.
• Plan and configure complex IT connectivity and other services (including wired connections, wireless connections, and VoIP telephony) across all tenanted spaces, including those areas occupied by the Trust.
• Plan and configure complex IT connectivity and other services (including wired connections, wireless connections, and VoIP telephony) across all event spaces as required by specific event requirements. This includes large scale public events run by the Trust with up to 3,000 audience members, and private hire events from our commercial events clients.
• Deal with and resolve escalations from the Support Analysts for residents, members, event partners, and Trust IT support issues and requests, ensuring that services are provided to the agreed standards.
• Resolve all reported IT issues in a professional and timely manner, documenting all activity on the service desk ticketing system, conforming to SLAs, and adjusting priorities to deal with urgent issues and requests.
• Where appropriate, escalate issues to external vendors as required and monitor the escalation to ensure satisfactory resolution. Escalations to external vendors are rare and it is expected that almost all cases would be resolved inhouse.
• Monitor and manage ticket queues, alerts, automated tickets, and perform daily checks on various systems as required.
• Research, project manage, and implement new solutions, security features, adaptations, and upgrades to IT services, working closely with colleagues to advise on changes for all future developments. Ensure that technical solutions are clearly defined and documented for the requirements of the intended client base.
• Hand over projects in a timely manner, with all operating and maintenance documentation in place.
• Undertake the training of others as required and document any processes or systems that are out of date or currently do not have documentation.
• Participate in the procurement of IT services, hardware, and software, providing specifications and contributing to tender documentation.
• Familiarise yourself with existing systems, processes, and policies, and look to improve these wherever possible. Create and update IT and related documentation to allow retention and sharing of knowledge within the team and the Trust.
• Participate as a team player in the support of colleagues within the department and across the Trust’s operations.
• Where required by key live events, exhibitions, and regular system maintenance taking place at Somerset House, to be able to shift working hours and days to provide support coverage. 

There may be times when you are expected to undertake other duties that may be asked of you from time to time. 

Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:

Experience:

• 3rd line level networking concepts and hands-on management including VLAN, IP, DNS, DHCP, Firewall ACLs, routing, RADIUS, NAT.
• 3rd line level of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Hyper-V, Mimecast, Office 365, and Azure, including line support and configuration.
• 3rd line level, supporting and installing standard productivity applications (Office 365, Teams, OneDrive, Adobe, AutoCAD, and various SaaS solutions) and operating systems (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022, some Mac OS) 
• Supporting desktop hardware (primarily Dell laptops) and mobile devices (iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets).
• Cyber security concepts and best practice, including Multi Factor Authentication, phishing, ransomware, passwords, firewalls, social engineering.
• Working in an IT service desk or team, ideally within a serviced/managed office environment.

ITIL Foundation certification, Cisco or Cisco Meraki, and technical Microsoft qualifications are desirable. 

Skills:

• Exceptional knowledge of network infrastructure, both wired and wireless.
• IT solution implementation skills across multiple technologies, from the initial proof of concept to the final solution delivery and signoff.
• Strong communication skills with the flexibility to deal with a varied customer base.
• Coaching or training end users in technical expertise.
• Knowledge of VoIP telephony.
• Knowledge of spam filtering software and configuring policies
• Knowledge of system backups, for example, Microsoft Azure Backup Service.
• Skills in supporting a range of specific solutions are desirable, including hypervisors (Hyper-V), Cisco Meraki, Mimecast, Bitdefender, AlienVault SIEM, PaperCut, PRTG, Jira, EPOS systems, PDQ Deploy, Access Finance, Nexudus, Priava or similar events management software, and Tessitura.

What the job involves

Funding research that will improve the lives of men with, or at high risk of, prostate cancer is one of Prostate Cancer UK’s highest priorities. Prostate cancer is harming too many men, in exchange for too few cures, which is why we are motivated more than ever to deliver a future where lives are no longer harmed by prostate cancer. We invest in the most innovative ideas to accelerate our knowledge and understanding of prostate cancer, and to develop better treatments and more effective approaches to diagnose the disease, so that we can transform the lives of all men with, or at risk of, prostate cancer.

We’re looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Impact Officer to join our Research Directorate. You’ll join an existing Senior Research Impact Officer to support the Senior Research Impact and Intelligence Manager to find, communicate and accelerate the impact of Prostate Cancer UK’s funded research. Taking responsibility for 50% of our ‘completed and in follow-up’ portfolio of research grants, you’ll act as their primary contact, assessing the likelihood of, and proximity to, impact.

You’ll use your scientific knowledge to understand the science behind these projects and communication skills to build strong working relationships with the researchers. With your research experience you’ll develop a detailed understanding of the outputs, outcomes and impact arising from the research we funded and support our research community to accelerate their pathway to impact.

What we want from you

Your role is important to the charity, as supporting research that can ultimately deliver a tangible impact to men affected by prostate cancer is a significant focus in our charity strategy.

You’ll need to be passionate about research making an impact and hold a bio-medical science degree (or a degree in a related subject), with research experience. You can understand complex scientific information presented in reports, publications or presentations and explain these complex concepts in a simple and engaging way to a range of audiences including peers within the charity as well as men and their families affected by the disease. You’ll be motivated to consistently perform to the highest standards, with an eagerness to trial new ideas, identify new opportunities and solve problems.

In any one day you could be helping develop an impact case study for the website, interviewing researchers for project updates, supporting delivery of a research event, or using social media to disseminate the work of our funded researchers. Your primary focus will be on the impact of our funded research, but you’ll also work closely with our research funding team, as well as with other teams across the charity.

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.

The 5Rights Foundation is looking for a Research Officer to join our small and high impact team in fighting for a digital world that supports children and young people to flourish. ​

Additional language skills such as French or Spanish is an advantage. Key responsibilities ​

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will:​​

• Be the expert in the room! Make sure 5Rights knows what it needs to know, and be confident in holding us and those in our network to the evidence.​

• Conduct thorough and organised research, including rapid evidence assessments, report summaries, and deep-dives into emerging technologies.​

• Conduct consultation and exchange sessions with young people from around the world as part of our Youth Engagement Programme, learning about their experience and helping them understand how tech works.​

• Liaise with technologists and experts around the world, exchanging knowledge and staying up to date on the latest developments, research and emerging issues.​

• Gather evidence for and support compliance actions.​

• Maintain tracking tools and a well-organised evidence repository.​

• Help coordinate research projects and evidence-gathering programmes.​

• Draft ad hoc briefings for senior staff on relevant developments, or ahead of meetings and conferences.​

• Contribute to 5Rights reports, positions, communications and fundraising materials.​

Person specification​

A background in technology issues or children’s rights is preferable, but not essential. Through the partnership of Macmillan Cancer Support, Self Help UK and the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System, the Macmillan Beyond Dagnosis service delivers support for people affected by cancer, as well as facilitated access to voluntary and community sector cancer specific support and wellbeing interventions across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Support and interventions will be identified using electronic health needs assessments (eHNA’s) and personalised care and support planning. This will provide a structured and clear ongoing support plan for those living with and beyond cancer which are integrated with primary, secondary and community clinical care pathways.

The aim of the service is to provide an improved experience for patients beyond their interactions with clinical services by contributing to the overall holistic approach to supporting people living with and beyond cancer. This will integrate the ‘beyond medicine’ approaches offered by the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) into existing and developing cancer pathways.

The Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service also includes the NUH Cancer Prehabilitation service, where we provide the Beyond Diagnosis model through the Social Prescriber Link Worker role.

This post is an exciting opportunity to work with Nottingham City’s PCN 8 (Clifton and Meadows).. Using the Macmillan Electronic Holistic Needs Assessment to support Cancer Care Reviews will ensure patients have access to the right support for all their non-clinical needs. The post will also work on the preventative agenda, supporting uptake of cancer screening across the PCNs and supporting the practices within the PCNs to deliver their improvement plan around early diagnosis of cancer. (in line with NHS England and NHS Improvement -  QOF Quality Improvement domain 20/21 – Early diagnosis of cancer).

 You will work in partnership with GP surgeries to give non-medical support that maximises patients’ wellbeing through their Cancer journey. The primary role is to do Cancer Care Reviews, with access to each surgery’s IT systems to track patient lists, document, and communicate with practice staff. This role will involve liaising with services from within the NHS structure as well as external services, so you will need to be skilled in navigating intricate processes and organisational structures from both the inside and the outside. You will also help with improving screening uptake and community engagement, building relationships with local services and groups to further enhance the support.

The Head of Finance will lead on budgeting, financial management and reporting and work closely with the Chief Executive to provide effective financial direction to the Treasurer and the Board of Trustees.

You will provide financial leadership overseeing all aspects of the organisation’s finances and in ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation and principles. You will be responsible for efficient policies, procedures, systems and practices to support the smooth running of the organisation and will be proactive in developing new systems and processes to meet the needs of the British Deaf Association (BDA) as it grows. As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the financial planning cycles, governance, and management reporting process as well as managing relationships with external stakeholders/advisers ensuring value for money, contractual compliance, evaluation and quality assurance processes.

With prior experience of working with charities’ accounts as well as experience of Sage accounting system used at the BDA, you will manage the Finance team and provide excellent business service and support to circa 28 staff across the UK.
