A leading national charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing a significant health challenge is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join them on a temporary basis as their Head of Risk, Compliance and Governance to ensure the smooth continuation of key functions during a transition period.

This six-month contract offers a crucial leadership role, primarily focused on driving the risk management strategy and ensuring a robust compliance framework. The role

We are currently looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller - an exciting opportunity to provide strategic financial leadership across the Soil Association Group, comprising both charities and commercial companies, including a new digital start-up, all working to transform the way we eat, farm and care for our natural world.

As an experienced finance professional you will lead the Group's financial planning and accounting and provide high level analysis and advice to trustees and leadership teams.

The role heads up the Group finance function, a respected and motivated team, and works collaboratively across the Group supporting income generation and financial management.

About the role

In order to reach and support more kinship carers with these programmes and our other services, we have developed a new Marketing Team to develop and deliver integrated, strategic and creative marketing and engagement campaigns and strategies.  This team is now established with clear plans to engage kinship carer audiences, rooted in insights.

• Drive forward cross-departmental work to further develop the organisation’s email marketing strategic approach.

• Contribute to the development of performance indicators for all marketing activities, using these to adjust campaigns to maximise effectiveness  and provide regular reporting and analysis.

• Line management of a small team.

Essential criteria include:

• Significant experience (5+ years) in marketing, with demonstrable success in delivering integrated strategic marketing and/or engagement strategies which met objectives around engagement and acquisition.

• Experience in a management role, with line management experience, and accustomed to operating with senior-level colleagues.

• Experience of combining marketing and engagement strategies and plans, with experience of stakeholder engagement and management in order to reach a wider audience/consumer/customer.

• Extensive experience of project management and delivering ambitious plans on time, to budget and evaluating outcomes.

• Significant digital marketing experience strategically and operationally with particular experience in maximising digital marketing tools including email marketing systems and paid and organic social.

About the role  

This pivotal role will see you help deliver the Individual Giving (IG) and Retention strategies, working collaboratively with colleagues across teams in IG to increase lifetime value of cash, regular giving and lottery supporters.

You’ll work with the Senior Direct Marketing Manager to lead on the delivery and development of direct marketing campaigns to engage a range of supporters, from those who have just started giving, to others who have a lifelong relationship with Shelter and the cause, stewarding them across their supporter journey with Shelter. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a matrix way, across multiple products, and on projects that push forward not only the team strategy, but the organisation’s strategy. 

You will give supporters control of how they give, when we contact them and the content that will mean most to them. Helping build multi-channel, integrated and inspiring campaigns which build strong supporter relationships and long-term loyalty to Shelter. And, along the way, you’ll get to work with new products and propositions to retain supporters in innovative ways and build strong relationships with colleagues, agencies and suppliers alike.

 About you

Passionate about outstanding supporter experiences and maximising income opportunities, you have a good understanding of direct marketing and digital channels such as direct mail, SMS, telemarketing and email. You’re also used to optimising and reviewing campaigns and aren’t afraid to share both failures and successes. Managing and influencing stakeholders to deliver results comes naturally to you too. What’s more, you excel in analysis and intelligent use of data, are great at utilising insight, including the motivations, interests and behaviours of supporters to guide decisions. You’ll have a keen interest in, or willingness to learn about, product management and development. 

You’re happy to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes too, like to horizon scan and keep ahead of emerging trends and are comfortable working in matrix teams.

Our Individual Giving team sits within our successful, growing Income Generation directorate and consists of three programmes - Supporter Acquisition, Direct Dialogue and Supporter Retention and Development. Together, we deliver a diverse programme of work with ambitious income targets that support our organisational strategy, across cash, regular giving and lottery products. We’ve grown quite a bit over the past few years and benefitted from both investment and opportunity for innovation.

This is an important and interesting role with Vision North Somerset.  You will get to be hands on with our service users who are visually and/or hearing impaired. You will work with our amazing volunteers, both current and new, training them and managing them to provide services to help reduce social isolation and to build confidence.  You will also manage our Peer Support Service which currently includes telephone support groups and a befriending service.  There are 4 HUBS around the county that meet monthly and we hope to develop more.

The Role
We are now recruiting a Charity Administrator to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. This remote, UK-based role will involve occasional in-person meetings and offers a unique opportunity to shape the operational foundations of a start-up charity from the ground up.

In this role, you will support the formal registration of the charity with the Charity Commission, helping to draft key documents and establish essential policies and procedures. You will be responsible for setting up basic administrative systems, coordinating trustee meetings and records, and ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements. The role also involves supporting communication with local partners in Bangladesh and external consultants, as well as assisting with the preparation of early-stage grant and donor applications.

We are seeking an individual with demonstrated experience in charity administration, preferably within a small or emerging organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of Charity Commission regulations, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a flexible environment. Proficiency in Sylheti Bangla, including both Shuddho (formal) and the Sylheti dialect spoken in Sylhet, is essential. A mission-driven and impact focused single programme NGO is seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 1 year maternity cover contract. The role is fully remote (from within the UK) and is full-time (5 days per week) for a 12 month contract. There may be the requirement to travel to Ghana on occasion throughout the 12 months. A busy role, in a vibrant charity headed by a passionate Founder/CEO – the role represents the chance to be part of a fantastic international organisation.

Salary is £63,000 - £70,000 depending on skills and experience, and the role would best suit a fully-qualified accountant with significant experience managing global finance teams within the international development sector.

The organisation’s mission is to get 3-6 year old children in rural Africa to thrive.  They have developed an award-winning Early Childhood Development programme, proven its impact through rigorous evaluation, and scaled it with governments in both Ghana and Uganda. It is currently reaching over 300,000 children per year, and we aim to reach 1 million children per year by 2028. The programme benefits both preschool age children and unlocks the potential of marginalised rural parents.

With around 100 staff globally, the interim Finance Director will manage a diverse team of finance professionals. Your role will include setting and managing budgets, supporting fundraising strategy and proposals, overseeing spend and financial controls and processes.  You will lead the finance team in Ghana made up of a Junior Finance Manager, four Finance Officers, two bookkeepers and a Procurement and Logistics Officer.  You will also manage the Uganda Finance Officer, and Global Finance Manager based in the UK.

The role will involve a mixture of hands-on accounting, complex donor reporting, consolidated and year-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and financial modelling. Xero is used across the organisation, and financial year-end is December.

Duties include:

· Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy, including exciting new opportunities for potential expansion to the southern regions in Ghana and exploring implementation of the programme in a new country.

· Develop and strengthen robust and flexible cost models (including sensitivity analyses/stress testing) to guide decisions around the pace and rate of scale, staffing & resource requirements, ensure value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.

· Develop robust budgets for new and renewal funder applications, considering complexities around funder restrictions, currency exchange and forecast economic conditions.

· Ensure that the organisation-wide financial systems, policies, procedures and internal controls and audits are robust, compliant and best practice to support current activities and future growth.

· Be pro-active in identifying ways to improve efficiencies and strengthen financial rigour, including leading on internal projects to enhance systems and processes to automate approvals and develop cost recovery models as we look to expand our operations outside Ghana and Uganda.

· Lead and coach the finance team to maintain and deliver operational excellence & financial rigour, closely monitoring the operating and financial reports against plans and budgets.

· Lead monthly financial reviews and oversee timely production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board, donors and management team.

· Work with our internal operations and programmes team to develop financial systems so that direct financial support is provided to local government partners and they are able to take on responsibility for and account for programme budgets, including overseeing termly financial disbursements and reporting.

· Work with programmes team to build the capacity of local government partners in financial management, procurement, and budgeting so that they will eventually be able to fund and sustain the programme themselves. Create the budgets, financial information, documentation and materials for funding proposals.

· Oversee the creation of all financial reports for funders, ensuring mechanisms to track and report against restricted income are robust, and preparing financial analyses for funder

· Provide monthly and quarterly management accounts for trustees summarising current and forecast financial position for the year, cashflow analysis and KPI reporting.

· Attend trustee meetings, present information to the Board and liaise with Board members, including leading the quarterly Finance and Audit Committee meetings.

· Ensure that the Statutory Accounts for all entities are prepared, including internal information is collated and provided, external auditors are instructed and deliver to standard.

· Ensure all organisations are compliant with tax, regularity and legal requirements (e.g payroll, tax, NGO registration, insurance, registrations with regulatory authorities)

· Actively manage the performance and build the capacity of direct reports through training, coaching, holding 1to1s, setting performance goals, appraisals, developing new policies and practices.

Requirements: 

-Fully-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA essential

-Prior experience working as Head of Finance or Finance Director in an international development charity (NGO)

-Prior experience managing a global team

-Deep understanding of international charity finance - donor reporting, programmes finance, foreign currency transactions

-Strategic finance experience covering budgeting, scenario planning, consolidated accounting and financial modelling - within an NGO setting

-Must be able to start the role quickly - ideally immediately available or with a short notice period

The Purpose of the Role

 The External Relations (ER) department includes private fundraising, marketing & communications and advocacy. The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team plays a vital role in supporting ER to advance our ambitious global strategy. The FP&A team (1) is a strategic finance partner to leadership and ER teams (2) leads revenue modelling and budget development (3) provide insights and analysis to support decision making on funding decisions and critical initiatives.
