We are looking for a Nations Support Coordinator based in Scotland on a permanent contract to support us in our mission to transform the physics landscape for the UK and Ireland. The Nations Support Coordinator will support the IOP staff in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland to ensure the smooth running of the Institute’s activities in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, which include engagement, education, policy development and stakeholder management.
This rewarding member facing role also supports and builds relationships with members, so that they can fully participate and contribute to the vibrant physics community and experience value from their IOP membership. What will I be doing?
Supporting IOP’s staff in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland to deliver the programmes of work in line with IOP strategy
Building and maintaining member and volunteer relationships across the physics community and to increase membership engagement in our activities across Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Providing consistent administration and co-ordination support to the IOP Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland committees to enhance their contribution to the strategic objectives of the IOP.

This role supports the work of IOP Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. You will act as the main point of contact for IOP Scotland, supporting IOP Scotland’s staff, representative committee members, current and potential active members and volunteers to deliver activities in line with the IOP strategy and promote physics across their local communities for around two thirds of your time. The remaining third of time will be to support the same activities for the IOP in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The role has responsibility to ensure that IOP Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland Committee members have a worthwhile and consistent experience. Supporting activities led and delivered by our active members and IOP Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland staff in line with the IOP strategic goals and campaign aims, ensuring effective administrative and logistical support, providing and sharing best practice to ensure the IOP recruits, inducts, manages and celebrates volunteering.

How will I be working?

Key Responsibilities:

Job Summary
Advance delivers nationally accredited, high quality domestic abuse services across London. Advance's domestic abuse services are community based and include local authority commissioned advocacy services, co-located projects in a range of settings such as housing and children’s social care, and specialist projects for victim/survivors with different intersecting needs including children and young people.
As a Peripatetic Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will provide front line support across Advance’s domestic abuse services, covering vacancies across teams to ensure service delivery remains effective and consistent. You will cover a range of roles all involving advocacy and support of people experiencing domestic abuse; some roles may also involve co-locating with partner agencies, delivering training or undertaking triage and assessment work. Your office location and pattern of work will change depending on your placement however all roles offer the opportunity for some hybrid working.
This role is an excellent opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in a range of settings and would suit someone who is passionate about advocating for victim/survivors of domestic abuse. You will thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy the diversity of working across a range of roles within different teams. An excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children is essential, alongside some past experience working directly with victim/survivors of domestic abuse.
About You
To be successful as the Peripatetic IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:
You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge of safeguarding and legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

About the role
The Motability Foundation is looking for a confident, driven media and PR professional to join the Communications team and lead our media and PR activity.
This a really exciting time to be joining the Foundation as we embark on our new strategy in 2025. With a recently refreshed new brand, our vision is clear, we want to help disabled people make the journeys they choose. This role will play a crucial part in our work to raise awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation and amplify the voices of disabled people across the media.
This role will take a lead on all media and PR activities. With a strong news sense, you will help develop and execute forward-thinking PR plans and strategies for the organisation, manage our external profile and raise awareness of the work we do, aligned to our vision, and manage our press office, including building strong relationships with journalists.

What you will be doing
- Implement and manage a comprehensive and proactive PR activity schedule for the Foundation, crafting compelling content to entice journalists and the media to feature and support our work.
- Act as the main point of contact for all media and press activity. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the Motability Foundation press office, providing an efficient service that makes the most of reactive and proactive media opportunities and builds our reputation with the media.
- Develop and foster strong relationships with key media outlets in the sector and journalists, broadcasters and editors to secure coverage that helps to influence key decision makers and engage our audiences in our work.
- Scan effectively for breaking news stories relevant to our areas of work, as well as horizon scanning for potential areas of future coverage.
- Produce press releases, and secure coverage using media, surveys and polls.

Fine Cell Work (FCW) is a charity and creative social enterprise committed to the rehabilitation of people in prison, and post-release. Our innovative Open the Gate (OTG) programme at our Battersea Hub offers work experience, volunteering opportunities, accredited training, mentoring, and signposting support to participants/ Apprentices at any point on their resettlement journey.
About the role:
We are now looking for an experienced and dynamic Engagement and Support Officer (ESO) to join our team. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by people in contact with the criminal justice system and will work proactively to establish meaningful and sustainable cross-referral pathways with external agencies. They will nurture a professional, inclusive, and safe working environment; use their knowledge, insights, and expertise to support tangible outcomes for all Open The Gate participants; and develop the wider programme offer in line with our organisational objectives.
In line with our risk management policies and processes, the successful candidate for this role will be expected to support Open the Gate Apprentices with a range of offending histories. Key responsibilities:
1. Nurturing a professional working environment where Open The Gate Apprentices are supported to achieve their potential.

8. Working with the wider team at Fine Cell Work to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.

10. Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with Fine Cell Work policy and procedure.
11. Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with the delivery of the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.

Knowledge and Skills for the role of Engagement and Support Officer:
Essential

- At least 3 years’ professional experience working with adults in contact with the criminal justice system, assessing needs and risks, and formulating support plans.

The Role
We are currently looking for a Café Assistant to join our Café team at our Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre in Harrogate.
Reporting to the Café Manager, you will work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, delivering excellent customer service, preparing food and drinks, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation. You’ll also assist with stock control, financial procedures, and café administration.
Specifically, you will:

Play an active part in running our Café in Harrogate, supporting the Café Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

Adhere to and administer all processes and practices of the Café through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

Take customer orders and prepare and serve food and drinks to the agreed standards as demonstrated by the Café Management team.

Support the Café management team to ensure the Café is presented to the highest standards and kept clean and tidy, including washing up and clearing tables.
-
Provide the highest levels of customer service to our customers and visitors to the centre and support our volunteers to do the same.
-
Work alongside a team of well-trained volunteers in a positive and collaborative manner.

Ensure that all charity policies, cafe standards, and operating procedures are adhered to by all volunteers and are maintained and followed in a consistent manner. This includes Food Safety, Allergens, Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

Operate the EPOS system in accordance with charity policy to ensure accounting and stock control are correct.

Train and work alongside a team of volunteers to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Handle complaints effectively and efficiently, escalating to Café management where they cannot be resolved at a local level.

Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.

To ideally to have a proven track record in hospitality or catering.

To have previous experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable.

To have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.

To have experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development is desirable.

To be organised with good time management skills.

To have the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

Joining as Assistant Manager, you will support the Service Manager by coordinating and leading shifts to ensure the needs of the people we support at our residential homes are always being met. Acting as a role model for the team, you will develop and facilitate individual support plans, risk assessments and behaviour management support plans, ensuring the running of the home is to its highest possible standard.
Providing person centred support for individuals who have a range of physical and learning disabilities including people with profound, multiple learning disabilities and complex health needs, you will report any unusual occurrence in the service user’s condition or behaviour to management and where necessary, adhere to safeguarding policy.
Supporting people to experience life opportunities which promote the growth of individuals to their maximum potential, you will go home at the end of your shift satisfied and feeling like you have made a big difference to the people you support.
About You
- Previous experience in a senior/supervisory role in residential care.
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Care (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards it)
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and relevant legislation.
- Effective leadership and communication skills.
- Experience working in care, preferably with individuals with learning disabilities or complex health needs.
- Experience providing personal care and support and the administration of medication.
- Experience of assessing the needs of vulnerable people and developing effective risk management plans.
- Caring and self-motivated, with a passion and want to help people with learning disabilities and complex health care needs.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Flexibility – willing to work weekends, bank holidays and out of hours working.
About Us
Stockdales is a local charity based in Sale, just south of Manchester City Centre. We have over 70 years’ experience supporting people with learning and physical disabilities to live life to the full. Our 5 care homes have up to 7 residents and our busy Community Service has weekly sessions, a social club and a weekend kids club.
