On secondment from the Cabinet Office she led the creation of a new operating model for the House of Commons’ HR function. Prior to this, Cheryl has worked in and led HR, Policy, Communications and Operations, for over 30 years in a variety of organisations including Local Authorities, Charity, NGO, and Higher Education sectors. With a background in occupational and organisational psychology, she specialises in organisational development and effectiveness, change and business improvement.

Main Duties

• Provide strategic HR support and guidance to managers and staff, ensuring policies and procedures are well understood and applied consistently. 
• Share best practices and drive consistency in HR practices across global teams.
• Support leadership meetings by delivering insights and assessing People & Culture needs proactively. 
• Advise on complex employee relations issues, including performance management, conduct, capability, and grievance handling. 
• Oversee our relationship with our Employer of Record (EOR) including, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of payroll processes in line with legal and organisational requirements.

Development Manager

Purpose of the Role 

The Development Manager will play a vital role in expanding The Churchill Fellowship’s income from Trusts, Foundations, and other institutional funders. Working closely with the Development Director, the post holder will identify, cultivate and secure new funding partnerships that support our core Fellowship programme, unrestricted income, and the Activate Programme in line with our organisational priorities. 

The postholder will manage the full funder journey, from initial engagement to long-term stewardship, ensuring all relationships are grown and managed professionally and effectively. They will work closely with relevant departments to coordinate proposals, reports, and communications, helping maintain strong connections with funders.

Key responsibilities 

Prospecting and Pipeline Development 

• Research and identify new potential supporters, primarily from the Trusts & Foundations sector, with some engagement of aligned individuals or family-foundation prospects in conjunction with the wider Development Team.

• Support the Development Director in delivering targeted cultivation and engagement strategies to grow new income streams.

• Build and maintain a healthy, dynamic pipeline of qualified new business opportunities. 

• Monitor sector trends to identify emerging supporters and new partnership opportunities 

Approaches and Proposal Development 

• Prepare tailored, persuasive funding proposals, applications, and cases for support, drawing on internal expertise and materials. 

• Lead on initial engagement with new prospects, coordinating meetings, briefings and follow-up communications. 

• Manage the cultivation process ensuring prospects receive timely and professional engagement throughout. 

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proposals are accurate, evidence-based and aligned with organisational objectives.

Relationship Management 

• Act as the key contact for donors and funders secured through this role, managing relationships and ensuring continuity of communication. 

• Work closely with the Development Director, Appeal Director and CEO to coordinate senior-level involvement in funder engagement where appropriate. 

• Ensure accurate monitoring, evaluation and reporting for all grants, providing timely updates and impact information to funders. Internal Collaboration and Systems 

• Record all activity in Salesforce, ensuring accurate data capture on all prospect and funder activity. 

• Contribute to income forecasting and team reporting

• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to align fundraising approaches with strategic initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and shared priorities. 

General 

• Ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant regulations, GDPR, and due diligence processes and ethical fundraising policies 

• Support Development team events and activities as required, occasionally outside normal working hours.

Person Specification

Qualification: 

• Degree level or equivalent transferable skills - Desirable

Skills and Experience 

• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a fundraising, grants or donor facing role, particularly prospecting new funders 
• Proven success in securing funding from Trusts & Foundations or HNWIs, particularly new business (one-off or multiyear grants and repeat grants) 
• Strong experience in research & prospect identification for trusts/foundations or major donors 
• Excellent proposal/application writing, with ability to tailor cases to funder priorities 
• Good interpersonal and communication skills — able to engage funders at senior levels and with colleagues internally 
• Strong organisational skills, managing multiple proposals and deadlines simultaneously 
• Proficiency with CRM systems (preferably Salesforce) and using it to manage pipeline / prospect data

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

The Office Manager will be a key member of the Helen Bamber Foundation Group. This is a broad role working with a wide range of staff and contacts within and outside the group. The postholder will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring that our office space and facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and secure environment. They will have overall ownership of the office with regards to the day to day running and ensuring health and safety compliance, and with the support of their team. They will ensure our staff and clients are able to enjoy a safe and comfortable environment. They will be the main point of contact for I.T, Facilities and clients services across the group.

They will act as Site Safety Officer for the premises ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Procedures, as directed by the CEO.

The Office Manager will manage the Client Services Team including volunteers. This role will also oversee freelance interpreters working with Helen Bamber Foundation Group.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Facility Management: 

· Act as site manager ensuring that the office is in a state of operational readiness. This will include procuring and organising premises maintenance , cleaning services, communication systems and other support services as required to meet local needs.

· Responsible for local premises security and liaison with fire and police services and local alarm providers

· Managing local contractors, landlords, suppliers, and other agencies as necessary; identifying improvements and ensuring best value in procurement.

· Working effectively with the landlord’s facilities team in relation to building related issues and for any building repair and maintenance issues.

· Ensure that office equipment is operating effectively and efficiently and maintain a sufficient level of office furniture, resources, supplies and stationery

· Oversee and manage the documentation of minor repairs, renovations and decorations.

· Ensure core facilities like water and heating are maintained.

· Manage, monitor, and maintain the room bookings system for all users at the office.

Office Management and IT:

· Supervise and approve contracts and providers for services such as consumables, minor office renovations and cleaning.

· Lead in the procurement and ordering of office equipment and stationery, office and IT equipment and consumables in the most cost-effective manner.

· Track staff issues and requests about the building, office facilities, fixtures, and fittings, and ensure they are responded to in a timely manner.

· Act as a main point of contact for our outsourced IT support services supplier, providing onsite support for IT upgrades and installation of hardware and software

· Assist staff and volunteers across the group with local IT needs including set up for meetings and local diagnostics of minor IT issues

· Manage local IT assets and ensure the allocation or devices for new starters across the group and partnerships

· Conduct annual review in liaison with IT Support Service provider of the health of devices and carry out any necessary action as a result.

· Create, develop and maintain appropriate office administrative and business support systems, in conjunction with other teams to ensure consistency of systems and procedures across the service

· Financial Management:

· . Oversee the processes of petty cash payments, staff and client expense claims, invoices and other project related expenses

· Working with Finance to ensure accurate financial records are kept and compliance is achieved

· Work with the Finance team to ensure that invoices related to office and facility management are processed.

· Managing the group’s budgets for items such as stationery, refreshments, equipment, cleaning, and maintenance

· Managing monthly collation and processing of timesheets and associated paperwork for all freelance interpreters used by the Helen Bamber Foundation team, including interpreters’ timesheets and agencies invoices

· With the Finance team, organise weekly trips to the bank to get cash for client expenses for the Group, on occasion collecting the cash from the bank personally.

Health and Safety & Security: 

· Ensure compliance with Health and Safety procedures, in liaison with the Director of People and the CEO

· Act as Site Safety Officer (SSO) for the group, ensuring the office complies with all relevant health and safety and fire safety regulations and standards. 

· Oversee the health and safety responsibilities within the office premises, staying updated on changes in health and safety legislation.

· Review and maintain documentation of risk assessments, health and safety checks and fire evacuation plans.

· Ensure the office has on site first aid provision, designated trained first aiders and fire warden/s

· Organise the delivery of relevant H&S training such as first aid and fire marshal training

· Undertake weekly, monthly and annual checks and tests of office facilities including fire alarm sounder and panic alarm checks.

· Ensure staff across the group receive sufficient H&S inductions including the completion of relevant forms and documentations

· Ensuring all equipment and furniture is compliant with Health and Safety regulations at the office

· Ensure all employees are aware of all relevant health and safety office procedures.

· Ensure the office is kept clean, tidy, and free from hazards and maintain safe working conditions for all employees and clients. 

· Manage Eyecare Vouchers Procedure in line with the DSE regulations

· Manage the group’s annual Winter Flu Vaccination Programme

· Act as one of several office KeyHolders by being responsible for locking up the office two (no less than two times a week) when the office closes at 6pm.

· With the CEO, act as an emergency contact for any emergency security / building related issues out of hours.

Line Management and other:

• Have line management responsibility for a Client Services Team.

• Support the delivery of events in the building as and when necessary.

• Oversee the access and booking of our Group meeting room by others in the sector.

• Support the wider team in ensuring staff working in our partnership programmes have sufficient resources and that their sites are safe and secure for them to work.

Terms and Conditions

About the role

As a Housing First Coach you will deliver high quality person-centred support, using psychologically and trauma informed approaches, in line with Housing First principles. You will take a bold approach to establishing open and trusting relationships with people who have had long histories of homelessness or in temporary/insecure accommodation, enabling them to access and sustain accommodation and empower them to exercise choice and control over their lives. The team is multi-disciplinary – Coaches, Peer Support Worker, Clinical Psychologist – which allows us to collaboratively formulate innovative approaches to support. The team operates across London, providing numerous opportunities to build impactful partnerships and contribute towards systems change. 

About you

· To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter, flexible and have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team and with internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:
CRM:

• Lead on management of Almeida’s central CRM database, Tessitura, and act as principal point of contact with Tessitura for all system maintenance, development, and upgrades.

Scope of role

The Advice Manager is responsible for the effective national management and delivery of the Mental Health Crisis Breathing Space (MHCBS) service. The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to oversee the financial management, control and compliance functions of the College.

This is a pivotal leadership role within the Finance team, supporting the College’s mission to improve child health by ensuring strong financial governance, sound reporting, and long-term sustainability. Working closely with the Associate Director of Finance and senior leaders across the organisation, you will take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity and efficiency of all financial operations and reporting processes.

As Financial Controller, you will lead a team of six, overseeing financial control, statutory reporting, payroll, and compliance. You will ensure that robust internal controls are in place, and manage relationships with auditors, banks and investment partners.

This role will suit a qualified accountant with substantial experience in financial management and a collaborative leadership style.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the delivery of accurate and timely month-end and year-end processes, including group consolidations and statutory accounts
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax, audit and charity regulations (including SORP)
• Managing internal and external audit processes and acting as primary contact for auditors
• Overseeing payroll, accounts payable and receivable, cash management and treasury functions
• Maintaining and improving financial systems, processes, and internal controls
• Leading, developing and mentoring a team of finance professionals to achieve operational excellence
• Working closely with colleagues across the College to provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Supporting the budgeting and forecasting cycle and contributing to strategic projects and funding initiatives

Essential skills and experience:

• Degree in finance, accounting or related field, and full professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in financial management, ideally within the nonprofit or public sector
• Proven track record of leading statutory reporting and year-end audit processes, including production of group consolidated accounts
• Experience managing financial operations in a complex organisation, preferably in the charity or healthcare sector
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Advanced Excel and strong working knowledge of financial systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a high-performing team
