About the Youth Crisis Service

Our Young Person’s Crisis Service offers a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment outside of normal school hours for those aged 14 – 17 who feel in mental distress or crisis.

About the Role

The Youth Mental Health Worker will support young people aged 14-18 to deescalate crisis and improve their mental health and wellbeing, through focussed 1:1s and structured crisis interventions. The role will involve assessing needs and offering one-to-one support to service users to enable them to begin the process of improving their mental health and well-being and to provide clarity on services and pathways available in the area. The role will be part of a larger Young Person's Crisis team made up of Youth Mental Health Workers, Managers and volunteers.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people (under 18) with mental health issues, experience of assessing level of need and experience working in a team or small service.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports young people experiencing a mental health crisis in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
• Carry out health and safety and cash handling in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures and guidance.
• Carry out health and safety responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s H&S policies, procedures and guidance (risk assessments, reviews, reporting, safeguarding, incidents/accidents, premises).
• Carry out responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader for the collection, updating, monitoring and reporting of service data in line with Mind BLMK’s contract and systems requirements and procedures.

• Located at a 24-hour supported housing service in Clapham, we provide high quality self-contained accommodation for 15 women who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantage.  
• The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutic environment in which women feel safe and can flourish, enabling them to move on into independent, permanent accommodation. The accommodation also includes overnight safe spaces.
• In this role, you will provide support to all the women, including running co-designed activities and accompanying women to appointments. You will work closely with Specialist Support Workers who manage individual resident support and safety plans.
• You will model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, will be skilled at building trust and you will be a great team player.
• The post holder will undertake 8-hour shifts on a 7-day rota, covering the hours 8am to 8pm. Please be aware that the building has several floors and no lifts.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Birmingham/West Midlands Programme Manager from September 2024 who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around the Birmingham and West Midlands area. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme

We’re recruiting for a new Product Manager to support the 12 million people in the UK who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. We are on an exciting journey at RNID as we introduce and embed product & delivery approaches and you will have the drive to help us along that path.

You will play a critical role in the next phase of our website product, developing and owning the roadmap and delivering positive impact for all our audiences. This includes user experience, conversion rate optimisation, technical integrations to internal/external systems and usability & accessibility.

You’ll work with external agencies as well as our multi-disciplinary in-house team. You will ensure that our website and other relevant digital products deliver against our over-arching strategy.

You will own the website product roadmap.

The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

The Philanthropy & Trusts Lead will steer the capital campaign fundraising strategy for the Fashion Museum, Bath, and its ambitious transformation project to create a major new cultural institution with international significance in the City of Bath.

They will focus on high-net-worth individual donors, trusts and foundations, and public sector sources alongside devising a strategy to convert capital contributors to long-term revenue support post-campaign.  They will also work closely with the fundraising team to devise capital and revenue campaigns to deliver income growth for Bath and North East Somerset’s wider heritage portfolio including the internationally renowned Roman Baths and Victoria Art Gallery.

The role will manage and motivate a small fundraising team to deliver ambitious income growth targets and work collaboratively with Bath Heritage Service’s senior leadership team, trustees of the charities that support the Services, and other key stakeholders.

About the role

A new and exciting opportunity to work with us across the England North region supporting our Liveable Cities and Towns and Paths for Everyone programmes, to encourage walking, wheeling and cycling to new and different users. 

As a Project Officer, you will organise and deliver engagement activities with local community groups, community leaders, businesses, schools and volunteers on our community led infrastructure and National Cycle Network projects. 

You will work with diverse groups within the community who may not currently use the National Cycle Network and enable them to use and look after their local route. 

Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected across the region.

The Homestead Park has been cherished by communities for 120 years since it was gifted to the people of York by social reformer Seebohm Rowntree (son of Joseph Rowntree) so that all individuals, regardless of class or income, could enjoy time in nature.

At JRF, we’re honouring this heritage and turning the leaves of a new chapter in the story of Homestead Park. We’re looking to the future to understand how on our home soil over the next 100 years we can grow opportunities to support JRF’s wider mission which is to ‘speed up and support the transition to a more equitable and just future, free from poverty in which people and planet can flourish’.  We’ll draw inspiration from Rowntree’s radical roots and cultivate the conditions for people to come together to explore the challenges of these times. They’ll connect with themselves, each other and nature, fostering resilient communities where people and the natural world are able to flourish together and plant the seeds for hopeful futures. 

Seebohm’s gift represents a tradition of giving back to the community and ensuring that public spaces remain accessible to all. We will be developing a ten year plan to help to guide our work in Homestead Park and we’re creating two exciting new roles to support this work: the Head of Homestead Park role and Community Engagement Lead. We’ll work alongside community groups and local people to steer the development of the Park and understand how it can serve communities today and for generations to come.
