Job description

We are seeking an Interim Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Project Manager to lead the development of our EDI Strategy for 2026–2030 over a 6 month fixed-term contract. Building on strong foundations, you will create a practical, evidence‑based roadmap that embeds decolonisation principles, equitable partnerships, and best practice across the organisation. You will help deliver a clear, measurable framework that drives accountability and lasting impact, working closely with colleagues and senior leaders.

In this role you will report to the joint sponsors of the EDI Strategy, the Chief Strategy and People Officer, Cheryl King-McDowall (based in London) and Chief Programme and Impact Officer, Adam Weiss (based in Brussels).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the refresh of ClientEarth’s EDI Strategy for 2026–2030, building upon the organisation’s existing framework.
  • Integrate decolonisation principles and equitable partnership models into the strategy design.
  • Ensure all strategic plans are aligned with relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010, and best practice EDI standards.
  • Conduct organisational diagnostics, including data and gap analyses, benchmarking, policy reviews, and stakeholder/staff network engagement
  • Design and facilitate workshops, consultations, and engagement sessions with staff at all levels.
  • Lead the development of ClientEarth’s submission to the UK based environmental NGO SOS UK! RACE report
  • Manage delivery of the project within agreed budgets, including commissioning and working with external EDI advisors where required.

See the job description for a full list of duties for this role.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Extensive understanding of EDI legislation and regulatory requirements in the UK, particularly the Equality Act 2010.
  • Experience in embedding EDI thinking into business planning, policies and processes, and direct service delivery.
  • Knowledge of equitable partnership models and racialised dynamics and experience of designing and implementing EDI and decolonisation strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience working with NGOs or within multistakeholder, mission-driven organisations.
  • Experience of developing and applying KPIs and metrics related to EDI impact and performance management.
  • Strong alignment with ClientEarth’s values and commitment to our vision, mission, and equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy objectives.
