The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Finance & Operations to take ownership of all internal operations that ensure the organisation’s effectiveness, accountability, compliance, and resilience. This is a people- and process-focused role for someone who thrives on structure and order while keeping equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility at the heart of how things are done.

You will be a champion of systems, a confident financial lead, and a culture-first manager who ensures our internal structures serve our people, values and mission. Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Lead the financial function with strategic oversight, supported by an external accountant.

• Provide high-quality financial modelling, forecasts, and budget support to the wider team.
• Produce timely reports and strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board.

People and Culture

Governance and Compliance

• Maintain governance documents and ensure timely updates and implementation.
• Embed an organisational approach to risk that is equitable, accessible and transparent.
• Act as the organisation’s Data Controller, ensuring appropriate policies and practices are in place to prioritise data safety and security. Work with external legal and data protection advisors to stay compliant with legislation and best practice.

Operations and Systems

• Be the internal champion of systems and processes, ensuring they are streamlined, understood and appropriately used by the team.
• Work with external experts and advisors to implement or refine systems as required.
• Oversee IT, digital infrastructure and tools for hybrid/remote working.
• Ensure all internal processes are designed with EDI and accessibility in mind.
• Lead continuous improvements that balance rigour with inclusion.

External Relationships

• Manage key suppliers and advisors (accountants, HR, IT, legal, payroll) to ensure value, clarity and accountability.
• Ensure external services align with our internal culture and mission.

Person Specification

Hours and place of work

• This is a full-time role to be fulfilled over a 35-hour week, ideally within the working hours of Mon-Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility as required.
• This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our shared office space in London (Better Space, 127 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3DA), the travel costs of which must be covered by the individual. We are open to discussing this arrangement further to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
• Further UK travel will be required on occasion, the costs of which would be covered by Clore Social Leadership.

Terms, pay and benefits

• This is a permanent contract.
• Salary for this role will be ca. £55,000 p/a depending on experience.
• The post holder is entitled to 25 days of annual leave, in addition to UK statutory holidays.
• The office is closed for one week during the winter festive period (25-31 December), providing an additional three days of annual leave in addition to the above allocation.
• You have the option to join our contributory pension scheme. The employer's contribution is 3% with a minimum employee contribution of 5%.

Working in close collaboration with the National Safeguarding Team of the Church of England, support is provided for this role through regular professional supervision provided by the National Safeguarding Team, and encouragement for continuing professional development.

The Head of Safeguarding has operational lead authority within the diocese for the National Safeguarding Standards, leading and overseeing work in these areas, and also plays a full role as a member of the Senior Management Team, in living out our values of transparent accountability, collaborative team working, respect for all, and the effective stewardship of resources.

Main Responsibilities:

To manage the diocesan safeguarding team, offering excellent practitioner expertise and overseeing sound triage, assessment and management of casework, actively liaising with relevant agencies, such as the police, probation services, and local authorities

Leading and coordinating all aspects of safeguarding casework within the Diocese, ensuring that work is completed as required by Safeguarding Codes of Practice, House of Bishop’s Safeguarding Guidance and all other relevant statutory guidance and legal responsibilities. 

Ensure that effective systems are in place for keeping all case files up to date by accurately and consistently recording actions taken on cases using the National Safeguarding Case Management System (MyConcern)

To work with the Diocesan Bishop, senior clergy, the Diocesan Secretary, and other key staff to support, develop and improve the safeguarding practice and culture across the Diocese. 

Leadership, support and advice to the wider diocese including Southwark Cathedral in the development of its safeguarding arrangements, good practice, policy and training.

To ensure that allegations of abuse are appropriately managed, and to actively liaise with relevant agencies, for example, police, probation services, and local authorities, and that support is provided to survivors and victims of abuse.

Complete comprehensive risk assessments and safety plans for individuals who pose a risk in the church context

To advise the diocese on all safeguarding matters ensuring that all advice is in line with the law, government guidance and national policy and guidance from the House of Bishops.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Case worker lead responsibility in cases involving the protection and safeguarding of children and / or adults (essential), with at least some of that experience gained in the statutory safeguarding agencies (desirable). 

Broader leadership and management responsibility and/or influence regarding the development of good safeguarding practice and healthy safeguarding cultures. 

Up-to-date knowledge of research and evidence-based practice models relevant to safeguarding. 

Experience of working with victims, survivors and perpetrators of abuse. 

Working with statutory and non-statutory organisations in managing safeguarding allegations and assessing risk. 

You must have a relevant professional qualification or equivalent extensive experience (for example, social care or criminal justice), with current professional registration where applicable.  

Experience of leadership and management, with an ability to operate at a strategic level, and influence the development of good safeguarding practice and healthy safeguarding cultures is important for this role.

Self-starter able to lead and work independently and with experience of appropriate challenge to senior colleagues.

Your experience of working with survivors of abuse will be important in ensuring that we provide appropriate support and advice for this important area of work.

The Head of Safeguarding is not required to be a practising Christian but is expected to  be in sympathy with the ethos  of the church and share our values.

Oasis Southampton City Farm is a community focused registered charity working in Southampton. We provide a range of supportive, wellbeing boosting, and nature-based activities for our communities, which include young people and adult learners with disabilities.

We are looking for sessional farm assistants who will support the Farm Lead in delivering the vision for the farm by supporting the delivery of the farm’s variety of activities, including:

 · To deliver youth activities on the farm, supporting young people to help care for the animals

· To deliver birthday parties on weekends to groups of up to 30,

· To deliver animal experiences, giving families the opportunity to meet and greet our rescued and rehomed animals

· To support our adult day service with caring for our animals

· To support with the animal cleaning and feeding rota, alongside groups or individuals.

· To support with the running of our café, which runs on the weekends. Working alongside our youth volunteers to serve refreshments and food.

Oasis Southampton City Farm is a community focused registered charity working in Southampton. We provide a range of supportive, wellbeing boosting, and nature-based activities for our communities, which include young people and adult learners with disabilities.

We are looking for a farm assistant who will support the Farm Lead in delivering the vision for the farm by supporting the delivery of the farm’s day service, which includes adults with varying learning, physical, and mental disabilities (or different abilities). This role will include:

 · Delivering the day service activities every Monday and Thursday, which include supporting our day service to care for our rescued and rehomed animals, sports, woodland activities, gardening, arts and crafts, and public facing activities.

· Deliver life and employability skills boosting sessions alongside the public, such as pop-up cafes and fundraising stalls.

· To carry out animal cleaning rota responsibilities alongside the day service,

· To support the farm education lead in the day service achieving AQA awards through day-to-day activities.

· To support the education lead in giving tours/pre visits to new adults with learning disabilities,

We’re looking for a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for using sport to help children and young people across the South of England to explore and respond to the good news of Jesus. 

This unique role combines the benefits of direct face-to-face engagement with young people in a local context, delivering mission through sport activities and programmes, while also developing and mentoring others to expand ministry across the South region. Key details: Employed by Scripture Union you will spend three days per week developing sports mission across London and the South. For two days per week, you will work on the Activate sports and wellbeing project working across the Bushy Park area.

About Activate 

Activate is a sport and physical activity-based programme, formed in 2018, seeking to build community through wellbeing that invigorates faith.  Activate seeks to release God’s people to join in his mission through sport and physical activity in the areas surrounding Bushy Park. This includes gathering, encouraging and empowering local Christians involved in sports ministry, including expressions of chaplaincy and missional communities centred around sports clubs, centres, educational settings and gyms.  A number of local churches across denominations and Dioceses have been supporters of the project. 

In the past Activate has supported sports projects in local schools, an activity-based church service, wellbeing cafe sessions, exercise sessions for the elderly and youth activities.  The successful candidate will be involved in re-launching Activate’s mission after a break due to staff changes. 

About your team

With this role, you will have the benefit of being part of a national-focused sports team at SU, as well as the south team with a regional focus and the local context with Activate. You’ll work out of the office of St Peter’s Church, West Molesey, benefiting from the support of a local parish-based team including clergy and youth workers. You’ll contribute your expertise in a variety of settings, ranging from urban and suburban to coastal and rural areas across the south. This exciting role involves undertaking research on gambling related financial harms and engaging with stakeholders in financial services firms to practically apply our research to their work. The successful candidate will primarily work as part of the Gambling Harms Action Lab team where we’re bringing together seven representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling related financial harms. The (Senior) Research Officer will be an integral part of the team working to tackle gambling related financial harms through delivering timely and insightful research and consultancy support.

About the role

This is a great chance to be a part of a service working alongside the Healthcare & Education Department within HMP Bronzefield to identify and support women who are identified as being neurodiverse or presenting with symptoms of neurodiversity and will be returning to the community. The Neurodiversity Lead will focus support on women with a neurodivergent need and improve their transition into the community, with ongoing community support; including collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop their support plans.

The Lead will work in a multi-disciplinary way, including attending the weekly complex case meeting and/or the Safety Intervention Meeting (SIM) as appropriate, they will act as a specialist member of the wider Advance Criminal Justice Service - London team, to facilitate a pathway for women with complex needs including mental health and neurodiversity needs. The Neurodiversity Lead will accept referrals from the Advance Criminal Justice Community team and prison services, and will create a link between prison and the community, helping women to navigate support services and to positively re-integrate into their community upon release. They will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling to support them to address their needs and any risks. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women.

The Neurodiversity Lead will be based in the community and will provide a drop-in service (1-2 day per week) in HMP Bronzefield to support women who are close to release.

About You

To be successful as the Neurodiversity Lead you will need the below experience and skills:

An excellent understanding of mental health, neurodiversity needs violence against women and girls and its links to women in the criminal justice system

You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.

About You

What we need from you:

• A passion for people and a belief in the power of conservation (we’ll teach you the rest!)
• Resilience: the ability to face rejection and keep going with positivity.
• Confidence speaking to strangers and working towards clear targets.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Availability to work 3 out of 4 weekends.
• Willingness to travel up to an hour from home.
• Comfortable working outdoors and often alone.
• Fundraising, sales, or customer service experience is a bonus - but not essential.

Please note you may be required to travel to our HQ in Sandy, Bedfordshire during your induction. We will cover all associated costs for travel and accommodation.
