About the Service

We have three refuges in Bexley, which provide emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and sexual violence. We are there for women at a time of crisis and help families take their first steps to freedom and recovery.

We exist to end the harm done through gender-based violence. Our aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse, as well as providing services to meet the individual needs of survivors, particularly women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives, free from abuse.

About the Role

You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across two sites. You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You should have a minimum of two years’ experience of working with this or a similar client group. An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential.

As part of both roles, one of the job posts will be located in one refuge, with the other job post located across three refuges.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.

You will have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.

Operation Christmas Child UK (OCC) has implemented a strategic volunteer ministry, investing in teams of volunteers who will multiply themselves and hugely extend the reach of OCC’s mission.

OCC is the world’s largest shoebox appeal where Samaritan’s Purse, together with local churches here and overseas, distributes from the UK 1/4 million gift-filled shoeboxes annually to children in need overseas and in so doing demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

A resourceful and energetic Regional Manager is needed to recruit, select, equip, and lead teams of volunteers throughout the 32 London boroughs.

About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

 Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Family support is provided to families in 15 different languages.

About the role

Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They  support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible. This includes providing support in a family’s first language. Several families cared for by Shooting Star speak Gujarati.

Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.

The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:

• Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
• Helping with support groups and family events
• Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
• Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes – specifically Gujrati speaking families.
• Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
• Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
• Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
• Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
• Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.

The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.

The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Once a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

About you

This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. You should have a calm, positive manner, conveying empathy whilst maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for someone who is fluent in Gujarati, who is passionate about supporting children and families.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as an IGVA supporting women and children who are impacted by different strands of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The independent gender violence advocate will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.

The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence). The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options

The post holder will manage a team of seven ambitious fundraisers and actively solicit gifts themselves, often working with volunteers, to generate in excess of £5m p.a. from individual donors. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Blood Cancer UK research team following the recent launch of our ambitious new five-year research strategy which seeks to accelerate progress towards the day when no one dies from blood cancer or the side effects of its treatments. You will join us on a full-time, permanent contract (35 hours per week), and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of between £22,721 to £24,250 per annum plus benefits.

About the HR Assistant role:

Reporting directly to our HR advisor the post holder will work with and maintain a range of HR administration tasks including management of our Vibrance HR Information System, being the first line of contact for our system users.

You will help plan programs and processes designed to improve employee welfare. Liaising with payroll, Recruitment and Learning and development, you will assist to maintain vital employee records and ensure the smooth operation of the HR department.

Responsibilities as our HR Assistant:

• Supporting internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department
• Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and electronic employee records, including holiday and sickness leaves
• Assisting with the documentation of employee compensation and benefits
• Supporting HR-related training programs, workshops and seminars
• Entering employee data into computer database
• Coordinating logistics for new hire orientations
• Writing and submitting reports on general HR activities
• Overseeing HR events and meetings and coordinating management-employee communications
• Being a part of the social media team

Skills and experience of our ideal HR Assistant:

• Working knowledge of HR functions and best practices
• Knowledge of employment law and human resources responsibilities

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Bite Back, and support the delivery of our local, national and international campaigns. As Campaigns Executive, you will play a key role in building Bite Back’s Shape Our Streets programme, working with Local Authorities and young people locally to advocate for healthier food environments. You will support the coordination of Bite Back’s national campaigns to put youth voice front and centre, calling for a #CommercialBreak from junk food advertising, high streets that aren’t flooded with unhealthy products, and school food that supports young people to thrive. You will support the coordination of Bite Back’s youth model internationally to raise awareness of the global issue and build campaigns within different country contexts.

You’ll be creating change and protecting every young person’s right to a healthy childhood.

The Campaigns Executive will report to the Senior Campaigns Manager and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our Programmes and Digital Communications teams.

Responsibilities

The Campaigns Executive responsibilities include:

● Providing day-to-day coordination and administrative support across national, local and international campaign workstreams.

● Helping to plan and deliver campaign events, such as in-person and online workshops: booking venues/managing online platforms, organising travel and materials, briefing staff and providing on-the-day support, occasionally outside standard working hours.

● Undertaking desk research, evidence-gathering and basic data analysis to inform our campaign activities, turning findings into briefings and/or presentations for internal teams.

● Contributing to brainstorms and ideation sessions with teams across Bite Back.

● Working with Campaigns and Communication colleagues to draft copy for supporter emails, social posts, web pages and briefing notes.

● Managing stakeholder lists (e.g. local council contacts, global partners) and occasionally joining meetings with external stakeholders.

● Providing ongoing support to UNICEF country offices throughout collaboration projects, building strong working relationships with country, regional, and HQ colleagues.

● Coordinating mentor sessions, for young people in several partnering countries on topics including research, policy and stakeholder engagement, community mobilisation, and media.

● Taking on additional tasks delegated by the Senior Campaigns Manager, contributing ideas and pitching in wherever needed during busy campaign moments.

● Ability to travel across England and Scotland when required (occasional).
