The Role
BASIC is seeking an experienced and strategic Communications Manager to lead and implement effective communication strategies that amplify our mission, enhance our brand identity, and strengthen engagement with key audiences. The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a proactive approach to storytelling, and the ability to collaborate across the organisation to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful messaging.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager will play a central role in shaping BASIC’s external presence, working across programmes to craft compelling narratives for social media, the website, and other digital platforms, as well as press contacts.
The Communications Manager will be the point of contact for all communication activity and will be responsible for setting the strategy and communicating this to the team. As an organisation, BASIC is keen to develop brand identity, particularly amongst our programmes and the Communications Manager will be instrumental in developing this work.

Your role
The fundraising and communications group at CMS has ambitious goals and targets and you’ll play a key role in helping successfully deliver on these. We are looking for a creative, driven, compassionate, Communications Lead to develop, lead, and implement an integrated communications strategy that supports our ambition to double the number of adults learning to read with Read Easy UK by the end of our current strategy.
As a strong communications generalist, with strategic and operational expertise, the Communications Lead will work closely with employees, volunteers and other key stakeholders to strengthen the charity’s national brand and position. This role covers all aspects of communications including media relations, digital communications, brand communications, stakeholder and internal communications.
The post holder will shape and deliver communications activity that inspires, informs, and engages our key audiences, including volunteers, potential Readers, funders, the media, and partners across the UK.

Your mission
We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Head of Communications who will be responsible for the global communication strategy and ensure that key stakeholders, such as (institutional) fundraisers and marketing and communication teams in our fundraising markets have the necessary inspiring content, assets and information about our programmes. You will lead the War Child Alliance Foundation’s communications team and will also ensure there is an outstanding communications and marketing platform for our critical programmes, advocacy and scaling work. Team
The War Child Alliance Communications team is responsible for the brand and the reputation on a global level for War Child, as well as overseeing all global and corporate communications and supporting the communications requirements of the War Child Alliance Foundation directorates. In tandem, the team also offers a robust service provision to our fundraising member network, supplying them with content, information and assets to support their communications and marketing outputs, and supports our internal communications processes across the Alliance.
What you will do:
You will report directly to the CEO of the War Child Alliance. Your key stakeholders will be those that are leading our programmes, scaling and advocacy work, global grants managers, research and development teams and the Fundraising and communications professionals operating in our fundraising markets. You'll lead, motivate and inspire a hugely talented team to innovate and adopt new ways of working in order to deliver our global communications.
You will be responsible for:
- Implementing the War Child Alliance Foundation’s communications and marketing strategy, linked to the Alliance strategy and goals, managing risks and barriers and overcoming these
- Designing and running processes with colleagues across the Alliance to coordinate comms approaches which work effectively for all Alliance members and offices.
- Managing (in some cases, developing) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, communication guidelines and policies, content calendar, campaigning frameworks and other marketing and comm’s tools and standard operating processes that enable strategy implementation.
- Overseeing the creation of creative and inspiring content about country and global programmes, research results and scaling efforts, our advocacy work and campaigns that help to raise brand visibility and engage new supporters and donors

Working as our Digital Fundraising Manager, you’ll use your skills and expertise to change lives every day through your management of Comic Relief’s engagement with audiences across a range of digital platforms from Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok and emerging channels.
We’re looking for a Digital Fundraising Manager with strong paid media expertise to plan and deliver our integrated digital campaigns. In this role, you’ll work with brilliant in-house teams and partners in top-tier agencies to test new approaches, fine tune creative and use data to continuously optimise, as well as test and scale new, initiatives to recruit and engage supporters through joyful giving experiences. You'll work on flagship campaigns such as Red Nose Day, and you’ll play a leading role in growing support and income for Comic Relief around the clock; developing innovative new opportunities and partnerships to reach and engage audiences all year round. From supporter acquisition through to stewardship experiences, you’ll bring the unique brand of Comic Relief to life through the development of innovative digital experiences and seamless supporter journeys; be a go-to expert in planning and delivering our digital-first fundraising and engagement activity and practice rapid and continuous test, learn and optimization.

Key responsibilities:
· Lead Comic Relief’s paid media campaigns across display advertising, PPC, Meta, YouTube, TikTok and emerging channels from strategy through to delivery, working closely with colleagues to align and optimise an integrated Paid, Owned and Earned strategy.
· Manage and optimise campaigns to drive acquisition, engagement and fundraising income.
· Use data driven insight and analytics tools to continually increase and optimise performance.
· Integrate paid media with owned supporter journeys (web, email, CRM).
· Manage budgets, agencies and platform partners for maximum impact and value.
· Use GA4 and campaign dashboards to analyse results, run A/B tests and improve performance.
· Collaborate with internal teams to deliver consistent, personalised supporter experiences, ensuring that our paid media campaigns support and connect with our wider fundraising and supporter engagement goals.
· Monitor industry trends and emerging digital platforms, identifying opportunities in new formats, channels, platforms, data and creative to innovate and drive growth
· Support the creation of models and reports that show how paid media is driving donations and attracting new supporters.

Essential criteria
· Hands-on experience managing paid digital campaigns (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok or similar) as well as working with paid media agencies.
· Ability to use analytics (GA4 or similar) to analyse and optimise campaigns.
· Excellent data analysis skills and experience in briefing and analysing complex data and insight to produce clear briefs and effective marketing plans.
· Strong project management and stakeholder skills - comfortable juggling multiple campaigns and agencies in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
· Experience integrating paid media with CRM, owned and earned channels.
· Experience in audience acquisition and growth strategies (particularly in driving engagement and fundraising through digital channels).
