We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organisation that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organisations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe. 

Summary job description

We are currently recruiting an Advocacy Officer to support our global advocacy work. The position will provide a broad range of support to the advocacy team, with a focus on ensuring the efficient delivery of the Transform Bottom Trawling Coalition’s dedicated grant mechanism. The grants programme supports campaigns around the world working to address the destructive impact of industrial bottom trawling, with a focus on small-scale fisher-led organisations in low- and middle-income countries. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of marine conservation, human rights, and policy advocacy, contributing to inclusive and impactful campaigns that promote the rights and recognition of small-scale fishing communities.

Reporting to the Campaigns Manager, this is a full-time role with occasional travel to work closely with colleagues and partners. The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual with a track record of project management, as well as exceptional written communication. About The Hygiene Bank  

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving us caught between being able to heat our homes, pay the rent, eat, or be clean.  It is washing hair, bodies, faces and clothes in the same cheap washing-up liquid used for the dishes. It is not being able to replace a toothbrush when needed or sharing a toothbrush because one each just isn't an option. It is having to choose between shaving foam and razors or the transport fare to a job interview.  

Hygiene Poverty is the hidden crisis facing the UK. In 2024, The Hygiene Bank published a research report into the incidence and impact of hygiene poverty. It found that over 4.2m adults in the UK are affected by hygiene poverty, that is an additional 1.1m people into hygiene poverty since 2022 - the equivalent of the population of Birmingham.   

Hygiene poverty is not only on the rise, it’ is also undermining the nation’s health: 50% of those affected by hygiene poverty say that it is causing them anxiety or depression. 92% of people affected report that it limits their social interactions with friends and family. 54% of those affected have not gone to the dentist in the last 12 months. But most importantly, it’s putting people in impossible situations. A staggering 69% of adults experiencing hygiene poverty are having to make the difficult decision between paying for essential needs like food and bills or purchasing basic toiletries. 65% of parents affected by hygiene poverty have had to choose between buying hygiene products for themselves or their children.

About the role  

Reporting into the Operations Manager, this role will be part of the Operations Team and will work closely with the Partnership Managers who support our projects and volunteers on a day-to-day basis. You will provide exceptional service to the volunteer journey and experience, including recruitment, training and engagement.  

Responsibilities (with estimate % of time in role) 

• Recruitment 20%: (Year 1 priority) Design and implement compelling volunteer recruitment campaigns at a national level and for specific areas of the UK - in line with the organisational strategy. 

• Virtual Volunteering 5%: Develop our offer for volunteers to bring their skills, experience and time to the charity outside our local community and project structures, for example coordinating volunteers who can support local projects with social media, or with fundraising. 

• Onboarding 10%: Design and run the volunteer onboarding process, ensuring that all of our volunteers have the tools they need to be successful  

• Governance 10%: (Year 1 priority) Administrate and coordinate the Volunteer Council, a new Committee designed to centre volunteer voice in the charity’s governance  

• Consultation 10%: Further develop the charity’s volunteer survey and create ongoing opportunities for genuine feedback and consultation from our volunteer community to amplify their lived experience

• Communications 10%:  Working closely with our communications team, collate compelling, informative and engaging content and write the monthly volunteers’ newsletter, ensuring volunteers’ achievements are celebrated, that they understand and are involved in the charity’s development. You will also be responsible for developing new and effective communication channels.  

• Data 5%: through collecting and sharing data on our volunteers and their  experience with the charity, you will report on progress and suggest ways to continuously improve our offer. You will also ensure that data is captured appropriately on our systems.

• Experience of supporting the volunteer journey, delivering work on the planning, recruitment, induction and engagement of volunteers across a dispersed geography.

• Producing high quality written tools and resources, and/or training materials for volunteers based across the UK

At Purposeful, communications is political. It is how we amplify girls’ voices, sharpen feminist narratives, and push back against regressive agendas. The Communications Director will sit at the heart of this work - shaping and delivering a bold communications strategy aligned with Purposeful’s vision, mission, and growth.

This role leads the stewardship of Purposeful’s voice, visual identity, and storytelling practice, ensuring that everything we produce - whether op-eds, reports, campaigns, or digital content - carries our politics with clarity and conviction. The Communications Director will work closely with the Co-CEOs and across all Purposeful teams, including Advocacy, grant-making, Learning & Insights, Programmes, and Resource Mobilisation, to amplify girls’ organising, showcase our impact, and influence the broader philanthropic and activist ecosystem.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, requiring a deep commitment to feminist movements, an instinct for storytelling as political practice, and a proven track record of positioning organisations on the global stage.

SCOPE OF WORK

1. Communications Strategy & Leadership

• Lead on delivery and implementation of a new communications strategy, building on 2025 planning foundations.

• Work closely with the Co-CEOs and director team to horizon scan and adapt strategy in response to organisational vision and external landscape.

• Provide leadership to a small team of staff and consultants (designers, digital specialists, artists) and work collaboratively with partner communications leads on joint campaigns and initiatives.

• Meticulously manage and forecast the communications and editorial budget, ensuring value for money and strong planning.

2. Storytelling & Content Development

• Oversee the creation of compelling storytelling content that highlights Purposeful’s impact, amplifies girls’ and young feminists’ voices, and influences funders.

• Oversee production and capture of content from live and digital events (webinars, IG Lives, panels, etc.).

Gulab Sorkh Foundation (GSF) is an independent charity supporting former members of the Afghan security forces and their families, who have come to the UK under the Government’s Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP). Our mission is to help these individuals rebuild their lives, access support, and integrate fully into British society.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Manager to lead the development and delivery of BNG projects across the Woodland Trust estate, including identifying and managing on-site opportunities and habitat banks.

The Role:

• Build and manage relationships with local authorities, partners, and internal teams to unlock BNG opportunities aligned with our Create and Restore goals.
• Coordinate BNG activities and governance, ensuring regulatory compliance, robust delivery frameworks, and effective reporting across the organisation.
• Provide technical, ecological, and project management support to internal teams, including site assessments, due diligence, and monitoring.
• Develop and implement a strategic, Trust-wide approach to BNG, supporting consistency, best practice, and alignment with our monitoring and evaluation principles.
• Support external affairs and policy teams with technical input on planning matters and champion the Trust’s position on BNG in external forums.
• Manage budgets, secure development leads in collaboration with the Corporate Partnerships team, and lead on partnership and agreement development for BNG delivery.

• This is a homeworking role with travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Overnight stays may be required which may be at least once per month.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Finance and HR

• Liaise with outsourced bookkeepers (also payroll providers) to ensure timely/accurate information flow.
• Oversee income and expenditure budgets and performance, processing of donations and scheduled payments, and ensuring accurate and consistent coding.
• Work with accountants to support year-end accounts and coordinate annual report production.
• Produce and circulate monthly management accounts and other reports for the Board.
• Support Trustees with designated responsibilities e.g. finance, risk, governance.

• Maintain accurate, compliant data in our CRM (Donorfy), including prompt input of donations.

Charitable projects

The Opportunity

Our Membership Platform supports the College membership functions to make a difference to the lives of over 3.6 million children taught by our members. It is used to track, manage and support our members to access their benefits.

We are recruiting a Ruby Developer within the Service Operations team to manage our membership platform and provide support to users who access it. During the contract you will:

• Monitor and resolve any issues arising with the platform.
• Manage and maintain the platform so it remains operational. 
• Work closely with the Head of Data and Digital to successfully transform and move the current data and services to a new platform built on Salesforce.
• Support membership operations with reporting, payment and refund requests.

• have autonomy for maintaining and managing our existing membership platform;
