We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to support the Head of PR, Communications and Celebrity Engagement and work collaboratively with Charity colleagues to highlight the impact our supporters and fundraisers make to cancer patients.

You will be equally at home pitching a story to a national journalist, working with a senior consultant to draft a new charity funded treatment story, briefing photographers, liaising with fundraisers to tell their story, writing newsletter copy or devising a communications plan.

The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive the very best care and treatment. This includes everything from access to world first clinical trials and receiving radiotherapy in state-of-the-art treatment centres to young adults being cared for in a bespoke age-appropriate centre and being able to offer patients anxiety reducing complementary therapy, or even creative sessions in our art room.

The FIGO Fistula Surgery Training Initiative (FSTI) project has been in existence for 10 years and in that time has become recognised as a key global project, instrumental in delivering capacity building and improved healthcare outcomes for women, with an emphasis on the global south. After 10 years the senior project manager has stepped down and FIGO are seeking to use this as an opportunity to review the project delivery model.

The Interim Senior Project Manager role will lead the FIGO Fistula Project on an interim basis and be responsible for the ongoing delivery of the project during that period. In addition, they will be expected to review the project delivery model, ensuring that the project aligns to best practice and delivers in the most effective and efficient manner possible for the future, whilst ensuring agreed project outcomes.

Job Title: Deputy Service Manager 

Location: In Service based in Croydon, CR0 1EB. You will be required to work across multiple services within the area. 

Salary: £30,200

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday, working across a rota which will include day and night shifts as we provide a 24 hour service.  

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team based in Croydon, providing leadership and line management to a team of night staff which is around 10 people in total. You will provide support and supervision sessions at night, and general leadership to the team so they feel empowered to be productive and perform well within their roles. You will further ensure a quality service is delivered in line with our contractual requirements to the residents. You will be responsible for creating a psychologically informed environment (PIE) with person centred support during all hours. You will work closely with the day teams to ensure a smooth handover from the day to night. 

This service is a Forensic Mental Health provision for 27 people across 4 sites in Croydon. For your own personal safety, you will require to have access to your own transport as you will need to travel between our 4 sites during the night shift to provide managerial support to the teams. The teams support our residents with person centred support, to empower them to overcome their personal barriers with their mental health, to have greater independence and fulfilled living. The service is responsible for holding various activities, group sessions, and one to one support to enable residents to build their personal skills and experiences to achieve their goals. 

The role includes:

• Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle
• Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service
• Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed
• Property and Housing Management, ensuring the accommodation meets our requirements, and repairs and maintenance are regularly reported and completed
• Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management
• Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required.

Role Requirements

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to precisely define project scope and objectives, eliciting technical requirements to formulate detailed specifications, cost assessments, and delivery schedules, while maintaining close coordination with stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and key milestones.
• Contribute to the development and presentation of key project documents for stakeholder approval and governance.
• Assist the Project Manager in overseeing capital and operational projects and other minor works throughout the organisation, taking ownership of the successful delivery of assigned projects and tasks throughout the project lifecycle, raising any issues / risks and reporting on a regular basis.
• Work within agreed budget and available resource, reporting on forecast, spend and raising any variations to the Project Manager.
• Build and maintain good relationships with all project stakeholders using a variety of communication methods.
• Track and assess project performance and outcomes using relevant tools and methodologies to collate and analyse data to report on project performance.
• Identify and monitor project risks and issues; and plan and implement responses to them.
• Assist in planning and coordinating the resources – human, financial and material – required for effective project delivery, working with the Senior Engineer to advise on resources from in-house Maintenance Team for up-coming projects.
• Apply quality management systems and tools to ensure project outcomes meet all legislative, regulatory and local standards.
• Participate in post project evaluation to document lessons learned, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist the Project Manager with collation of all Estates compliance certificates and service report onto the compliance register.
• Provide input, as required, to monthly compliance reports.
• Provide updates on required remedial works, as necessary.

Additional support undertaking direct line management for the first time will be available if required.

The Casework Manager leads our team of specialist caseworkers to deliver this programme, carry a small caseload, collaborate with our wider operational team to develop opportunities, influence national policy and improve access to support for survivors in South Yorkshire and beyond. 

Position: Casework Manager

Salary: £32,000 per annum, pro rata, pension paid at 4% contribution

You'll be responsible for: 

• Developing the casework service delivery, empowering your team, creatively approaching problems and finding creative solutions to barriers
• Working in collaboration with the wider Operational Team to deliver whole-person centred and best practice approach with Counselling and Community managers. 
• Assessing referrals and delivering support to survivors with complex needs
• Contributing to our policy, training and research programme to improve lives beyond South Yorkshire
