The Salvation Army are partnering with the University of Stirling via the Salvation Army Centre for Addiction Services and Research to deliver a trial for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This unique and innovative social care trial will examine the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a Peer Navigator/peer support intervention for people experiencing homelessness and problems with substance use. We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities: The role of Peer Navigator (Lived Experience Practitioner) is fundamental to The Salvation Army’s desire to help vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes and as such you will be passionate, target driven, dynamic and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of services for vulnerable clients in a competitive climate. You will also champion excellence in terms of ensuring our clients are central to our services and successful individual outcomes are achieved.

There is a requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of participants/client, due to the nature of this particular role, including the outreach element. The usual pattern of work will be Monday-Friday with hours between 8am-6pm. However, some working outside these hours may be requested, depending on the needs of the people you will be supporting. Work life balance will be taken into consideration and individual needs can be discussed with line managers.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

• Their own personal (not family related) experience of homelessness and/or problem alcohol/drug use.
• A passion for supporting vulnerable people, with strong previous experience of working successfully in a similar role, and good knowledge of drug and alcohol issues including harm reduction models.
• Genuine compassion and non-judgemental attitude for people in need with challenging lives.
• Knowledge of the main support needs of people experiencing homelessness and other forms of vulnerability, including problem substance use and challenges with the welfare benefit system.

The Role

About the Role:

As a Group Work Practitioner, you will be delivering a range of group work courses and programmes to adults affected by crime in the Thames Valley. You will be required to manage your own caseload and work in collaboration with other service delivery staff within the Thames Valley Adult Victims Service.

The Thames Valley Adult Victims Service will provide emotional and practical support to adult victims of any crime. Support will primarily be delivered through specialist group work provision, alongside online and telephone support.

You will be confident in co facilitating the delivery of group work programmes to people with a range of different needs and will have strong empathy skills. You will need to be able to talk to groups of people and will be resilient and confident with supporting others, as well as happy to work as part of a team.

We are currently seeking dynamic Practitioners to join our Children & Young People’s service (CYPS), working directly with young people affected by domestic abuse.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years.

This role requires a good understanding of adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse and trauma, and the impacts of these on young people’s development, as well as a good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, and on the parent-child relationship. You will have experience of direct work with young people and their parents/carers, working flexibly but robustly and supportively, responding to challenging or harmful behaviour to facilitate change. You will have experience of providing structured one-to-one and/or group work counselling or behavioural change interventions, and of working with both children and adults from diverse backgrounds. You will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Children’s Services, Schools and Youth Offending Services.

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in developing DVIP’s young people’s services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic violence, in line with RESPECT practice standards. Day to day, you will be working flexibly across a number of locations, including providing outreach in schools and other relevant or referring services, managing referrals, assessing risk and suitability for therapeutic intervention, and engaging families.

In this rewarding role you will be working directly with young people and their parents/carers, delivering structured interventions to increase safety, as well as providing specialist support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training.

You will be able to work independently and flexibly, including some early evenings if needed, within any London Borough, where DVIP is contracted, for part of the working week. You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

This is a permanent full time role requiring the post-holder to work 37.5 hours a week.

The Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) Programme is a one-year postgraduate diploma course which is part of the child mental health workforce development programme.  The course started in January 2019 to train graduate entry practitioners to the child and young people mental health workforce. The Course Tutor will support teaching delivery on the Pg Dip in Educational Mental Health Practitioner programme. The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in a core mental health profession of Clinical Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, Family Therapy or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and/ or have specific training in CBT. The post-holder will also need to have experience working with children, young people, and families with psychological/emotional difficulties in a mental health service and/ or educational setting.

We are looking to recruit a qualified Low Intensity Therapist (PWP). You will be actively committed to developing your skills in cognitive behavioural therapy in a primary care mental health setting. You will provide a Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service to customers of Mind in Bexley Talking Therapies with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, mainly of a mild to moderate severity and impact, primarily Steps 1 and 2 (Stepped Care).

You will deliver high quality, high volume, evidence-based low intensity therapy which will be short term and primarily cognitive behavioural and self-management interventions.

PWPs will offer a wide range of interventions, including telephone and online treatment CBT programmes, psycho-educational groups, courses, workshops, webinars and one-to-one work.

During this two day a week six month role you will be leading on agreed pieces of work focused on the earlier diagnosis of cancer. The specific details of projects are to be confirmed but potential current projects include:

• Investigating ways to address the inequalities in the early diagnosis of bowel cancer 
• Supporting Primary Care Teams to address the inequalities faced by under-represented populations in the earlier diagnosis of cancer 
• The impact of co-morbidities on the earlier diagnosis of cancer, in particular in under-served populations.

You will bring insight, ideas, experience and thought leadership to the role to inform issues impacting on the earlier diagnosis of cancer with a focus on the impact of Health Inequalities. 

About you
We are looking for a motivated and driven individual with evidence of management and clinical leadership experience and a strong interest in the earlier diagnosis of cancer, in particular for those with poorer outcomes. You will need to have good working knowledge of the current healthcare system and be a clinician with strong understanding of the issues impacting cancer diagnosis.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth workers being the best they can be and empowering them to be heard. You will achieve this through the delivery of our flagship leadership development program, Rise Up, funded by the Violence Reduction Unit.

As Programmes  Officer, you will be vital in the delivery of the Rise Up program, ensuring key milestones are met. You will support the day-to-day running of Rise Up by ensuring all practitioners are given clear guidance and support to engage fully with the program. You will also ensure key stakeholders such as the Violence Reduction Unit, youth workers, and the partnership are updated and supported to deliver the program.

We would love someone who understands the youth sector and what it means to be a frontline practitioner in London, especially in the context of violence impacting young people and communities. An excellent communicator, you’ll be able to share the vision of the programme to others and inspire support.

We are embarking on a radical transformation of our CRM, moving away from custom packages and developing our CRM within native Salesforce. Our CRM is a powerful tool in delivering critical functions to all aspects of College activity across membership, CPD, exams, research and communities and forums. It is used by over 50% of our staff to support our members and by our 55,000 members to access the services they need.

This role leads the ongoing development of our Salesforce platform including leading the improvement of processes, adoption using the Salesforce platform and helping the College become more data-driven by introducing improved analytics capabilities. There is an appetite across the organisation for using insights from our data to drive what and how we deliver for our members.

The successful candidate will need good technical skills, ability to work in both agile and waterfall environments, as well as excellent collaboration skills and ability to explain complex technical matters in business terms as needed.
