Age UK London are a unique charity campaigning to make London a better place for older Londoners now, as well as the older Londoners of the future. Medact brings together health workers to fight for health justice. We recognise that health injustice is driven by political, social and economic conditions, and we mobilise the health community to take action to achieve systemic change, working together towards a fairer, better, safer world.
We address some of the most pressing national and global threats to health and wellbeing including climate change, human rights abuses, militarism, nuclear weapons, institutional racism, and rising health and social inequality. We are a member-led organisation, and our members are made up of people who work in health and social care including nurses, doctors, midwives, and clinical researchers. Medact has grown significantly over the last five years and is in an exciting new period as an organisation. As we develop our next five-year strategy we are looking to refine our campaigning and organising practice and grow our membership base to secure long lasting victories in our campaigns for health justice.
About the role
The new Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organisation in developing a new strategy to guide us through the next phase growth, while leading the team through an new political climate.
Grants fundraising is of particular importance to the role, and the successful candidate will be the lead person responsible for securing funding for our campaigning and organising work and maintaining strong relationships with donors.
Our Executive Director will lead an experienced team and an organisation that deeply values collaborative working, consultative decision making, and a commitment to transparency.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about addressing health, climate, racial and economic injustice and the health impacts of conflict and militarisation, and who understands the vital role that health professionals have in making the connections between these issues and working for peace, to make the world a better, fairer and safer place.
You will have an understanding of the national and international framework within which Medact operates, and you will be able to demonstrate that your values and politics align with those of our organisation. Ideally you will have experience of working in health or with health workers, so that you have an appreciation of the culture within which they work and the potential of their contribution.
You will have strong leadership skills so that, valuing the collaborative approach of our team and respecting varying views, you are able to arrive at clear decisions. You will also have a track record in fundraising in similar fields and a good knowledge of a range of potential supporters.

We’re looking for a passionate policy and campaigns expert to lead our work driving equity in healthcare and securing justice in the Infected Blood Scandal.
Working closely with the Chief Executive and Management Team, you will lead the development and delivery of HCT’s influencing strategy including:
- Driving our work on the UK Infected Blood Inquiry and new compensation system, to ensure everyone affected can access justice and that the Inquiry recommendations are rapidly acted upon by the UK Government.
- Developing the policy and campaigns strategy for our new Inclusion Health programme, focused on improving health and access to health services for marginalised and excluded populations (also known as “Inclusion health” or “PLUS” populations within the NHS Core20PLUS5 approach to addressing health inequalities).
- Building strategic partnerships with like-minded organisations to ensure Government takes a long-term and evidence-based approach to hepatitis C elimination – meeting our target to eliminate hepatitis C in the UK by 2030. This will cut across work in drug policy, health and justice, inclusion health and communicable diseases.
This is a pivotal role for the organisation, coming at a crucial juncture in our 20-year history, and coinciding with a new Government and following the final report of the Infected Blood inquiry.
The role will provide an excellent opportunity to take on wide-ranging policy and campaigns responsibilities encompassing research, influencing decision makers, building coalitions, developing campaigns and producing campaign materials, developing HCT’s campaigners’ network, and building public and political support for our aims and our communities.
You will be a strategic thinker with great political and communication skills, enthusiasm for working directly with communities, and experience of policy, public affairs and/or campaigning work. Ideally, you will have an understanding of inequalities and/or experience of working with ‘Inclusion Health’ populations including people experiencing homelessness, the criminal justice systems, drug use and/or other exclusion. Lived experience is always a huge asset.
You will bring a track record of working on campaigns that have contributed to policy or other social change. You’ll be passionate about working with people with lived experience to develop policy and will have the ability to build influential relationships and to represent The Hepatitis C Trust with a range of external audiences.

As the Special Events Officer, you will work closely with the Special Events Manager to develop and deliver a first-class events program for the Stop MS Appeal, ensuring a consistent, professional, and highly engaging supporter experience.

The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will support policy and public affairs activities, ensuring AdviceUK's has a strong voice and messages are heard at a national and regional level across England, Scotland, and Wales, so AdviceUK can secure policy, funding and system change to benefit people seeking advice and the communities served by our members. The postholder will collaborate with colleagues to ensure their advocacy and campaigns are robust, challenging and independent and to raise AdviceUK's profile and reputation.
Key responsibilities
- Policy Support & Monitoring: Collaborate with stakeholders to inform policy efforts, develop policy materials, monitor political and regulatory developments, and keep stakeholders updated on activities.
- Stakeholder Management & Public Affairs: Maintain stakeholder engagement, manage parliamentary contacts, align stakeholder mapping with policy objectives, and engage members in advocacy work.

You will have excellent knowledge of local and national government structures, the UK and devolved parliaments within a policy context, with experience of political and media mapping, working within the Parliamentary/Whitehall landscape and experience of 1:1 briefing of MPs, civil servants and the media. You will have worked in partnership on campaigns, and you will be able to build strong relationships with colleagues, partners and suppliers. You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and excellent analytical and decision-making skills to translate data and evidence into actionable insights to inform decision-making. You will have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and competing demands. You will also be skilled in using video content to communicate policy objectives and public affairs work.
This role is home-based. You will need to regular attend meetings/events in London and there will be some travel across the UK. AdviceUK have an office in London (Aldgate). There may be out of hours work for which TOIL is granted. There will be a £600 home working allowance.

ABOUT GLAN
The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.
Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.
More recently, we have supported the preeminent Palestinian human rights organisation Al Haq, to rapidly challenge UK weapons exports to Israel due to the risk of these arms being used in violations of international law.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Strategic Communications at GLAN, you will spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy that amplifies GLAN's mission and impact on a global scale.
You will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of all communications efforts to enhance the organisation's brand, increase public awareness, and support advocacy and fundraising initiatives.
A key part of your role will be to establish GLAN's voice and brand, ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences. You will lead on improving our website and communications style, producing high quality content and ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across all platforms.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. We are seeking a Head of Strategic Communications to build an ambitious communications strategy focused on some of the biggest human rights and climate change issues of our time. At this point in time, the team is small with some budget to work with external freelancers, consultants or agencies. Communications Strategy
- Align cross-media communication strategies with thematic goals to maximise success across all initiatives. Develop campaign & advocacy communications which will influence change.

- Develop a strong brand presence and establish comprehensive brand guidelines that reflect GLAN’s core values, emphasising the voices of affected communities in all communications.
Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
- Serve as a key member of the senior management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and organisational planning.
- Represent the organisation externally at events, conferences, and meetings.

I am working with a charity based in the heart of London, and we are looking for a Research Grants Manager to join the team ASAP. You will work closely with the Trustees to co-ordinate the Research and Welfare grants for the charity. You will be working with the marketing and comms team to translate technical information into simple to understand English, so this can be a part of the Marketing strategy. You will be responsible for the ongoing grant administration and portfolio management. This includes the launch of grant calls and peer reviews.
Your new role
The successful postholder will:
- Manage the portfolio of the charity's active Research and Welfare grants. Monitor grant progress against agreed milestones, plus outcomes and impact by reviewing narrative progress reports and Researchfish submissions. Ensure timely reporting and build strong working relationships with the award holders.
- Work closely with the Trustees and Chair to deliver research funding calls to standards, including having the scope clearly defined and approved by the Board of Trustees,
- Co-ordinate the Trustee assessment and approval of applications for Welfare Grants.
- Monitor expenditure on awarded grants against planned budgets and ensure projects adhere to the charity's financial policies. Process invoices for awarded projects, supported by the Research Grants and Trusts Officer.
- Capture and monitor the outputs, outcomes and impact arising from the portfolio of Research and Welfare grants. Liaise with the Marketing and Communications team regarding any potential case studies and press releases to demonstrate the impact of the charity's investment.
- Lead the review and refresh of the Charity's Research Strategy.
- Manage and grow the charity's relationships with partners, including research grant co-funders, and identify new opportunities for collaboration.

Overview of the role:
Working in a small team, you will play an active role in the delivery of their External Affairs programme of work, primarily delivering secretariat duties for the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) on Deep Geothermal, as well as contributing to wider external affairs outputs.
