Supporter Development Officers at the Royal British Legion play a crucial role in executing the organisation’s Supporter Development communications plan. Reporting to the Supporter Development Manager, this position entails supporting on various projects, with a focus on in-memory fundraising, aimed at generating income and nurturing supporters who have made a donation in memory of a loved one. Collaboration within a cohesive framework across departments such as Supporter Acquisition, Planning, Marketing, and Finance is essential to thrive in the One Legion culture.

Responsibilities involve supporting and delivering marketing and stewardship campaigns through diverse channels like email, direct mail, phone, SMS, and social media. This encompasses managing creative content, ensuring alignment with the charity’s strategies, and adhering to brand guidelines. Additionally, the role will support on budget drafting, expenditure control, and maximizing financial returns while minimizing costs for campaigns.
Operational excellence is pivotal, involving contribution to response handling processes, detailed post-campaign analysis, managing reporting requirements, and print management. Building relationships with partner organizations, fostering internal collaborations, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations are also integral components of this role.
Ideal candidates possess experience in managing multifaceted email and direct marketing campaigns, proficiency in analysis to help inform strategic decisions, familiarity with print production, and a strong grasp of consumer marketing, particularly within the charity sector. Moreover, excellent analytical, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, along with IT proficiency and alignment with RBL's mission and values, are essential attributes for success in this role.

You will be contracted to our London Hub, Haig House. As we move closer towards assisted dying legislation across the British Isles, this role presents an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-profile, fast-paced campaign that will provide plenty of challenges and opportunities for personal development.
Using strong creative, communication and interpersonal skills, the Media and Campaigns Officer will play a crucial role in the delivery of our media strategy. They will work closely with the Senior Media and Campaigns Officer and wider Communications and Campaigns teams to ensure the press office runs smoothly and in concert with the organisation’s wider strategy.
This role includes delivering media objectives; managing, supporting and recruiting personal stories and patrons; monitoring and disseminating relevant media coverage; identifying reactive media opportunities; proactively securing media coverage; producing and distributing engaging press materials; and maintaining relationships with key journalists.
The role will also work across the campaign’s sister charity, Compassion in Dying. Both organisations share an aim of improving dying in the UK by putting people in charge of decisions about the end of their life. The charity’s profile and influence has grown hugely in recent years, with its wealth of expertise and thought leadership recognised across the end-of-life and wider healthcare sector.
Working closely with colleagues in the Information Line and Policy & Research teams, key responsibilities will include securing opportunities within the media to amplify the voices of dying people and those close to them; supporting those individuals to share their experiences; keeping abreast of relevant coverage within mainstream media and healthcare trade press; using the media to raise awareness of the importance of and ways to plan ahead for the end of life; and seeking media opportunities to share our research and insight, shift attitudes and push for the changes needed so that everyone can have a good death, whatever that means to them.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative, intuitive and creative individual with strong media-handling experience. The Head of Engagement is a key role within the Public Engagement team. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team and work with us to shape how Factory International has increasing impact and creates high quality, ambitious and exciting engagement opportunities for residents across Greater Manchester.
Factory International has one of the UK’s most wide-reaching public engagement programmes creating opportunities for people to influence, shape, take part, develop and have fun in a broad range of cultural activities. We have been nurturing a wide community of interest across Greater Manchester over many years with thousands of people engaging with our organisation every year. The Head of Engagement will work closely with the Public Engagement Director and Head of Learning to establish clear outcomes and objectives across public engagement and areas of audience development.
Recent examples of engagement programmes include;
- The Welcome - nine days of co-curated programming with 22 Greater Manchester residents that formed part of the opening season of Aviva Studios and welcomed over 11,000 visitors.
- Neighbourhood Organisers – key paid roles that link Factory International to the many communities of Greater Manchester. Neighbourhood Organisers are passionate residents who help their local community get the most out of Factory International.
- Free Your Mind - over 100 Greater Manchester residents took part as volunteer participants in this large scale immersive performance created for the opening of Aviva Studios.
- Community Partnerships Programme – a partnership programme with local community organisations to provide £10,000 towards core or community activity alongside 10 months of logistical and capacity building support from Factory International.
The key responsibilities for the Head of Engagement role include;
- To work alongside the Public Engagement Director and Head of Learning to reflect on, monitor and reshape, where necessary, the vision and direction of the department responding to the changing environment and organisational needs.
- Provide leadership and innovative approaches to engagement and audience development, helping to develop strategy and sharing best practice internally and externally.
- To be responsible for the development and delivery of engagement programmes for Factory International with/for a range of audiences to excite and engage people in the arts.
- To manage and develop the Engagement Team ensuring team and organisational objectives are met, alongside managing relevant financial and physical resources related to the delivery of engagement programmes.
- To support and create audience development initiatives in collaboration with partners and Factory International’s Audiences team to successfully promote opportunities across the organisation.
- Ensure quality across all of Factory International’s engagement and participation work including the highest standards of safeguarding, ethics and equality.
- To work closely with Factory International’s Commercial and Philanthropy Teams to secure additional resource and explore new ways of funding and developing engagement work.
- Lead on the monitoring and evaluation for engagement programmes to ensure targets are met and are delivering effective engagement across the city and city-region, working within the organisation’s wider evaluation and monitoring framework.

ESSENTIAL
- Experience of developing and delivering successful programmes of engagement, community building and audience development.

You will lead activity around our priority learning themes and support our three regional teams in Wales to do so, too. You will also scan the external environment for information on what others are doing and advise colleagues and decision makers on how our funding can achieve the greatest impact.
