WCCM seeks to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, talented, resourceful, emotionally intelligent and hardworking Senior Finance Manager to manage finance and governance across our international office in London and our Retreat Centre based in Bonnevaux. Working with the Executive Director and Trustees, and with the support of a small, dedicated team, you will lead on WCCM’s financial strategy and planning, ensuring compliance with statutory and non-statutory bodies, working to maximise income and automate processes. As Philanthropy Officer, you will be an organised and proactive fundraiser, adept at multi-tasking and working across a variety of projects to successfully support senior leaders. You will be keen to learn from senior fundraisers and implement exciting new approaches for the Sutton Trust, and bring strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
The philanthropy income team is a team of two, working closely with the Director of Development to secure and steward individual donors. As Philanthropy Officer, you will support both the Head of Philanthropy and Director of Development in their work with individual donors, including undertaking prospect research, writing briefings and compelling reports, coordinating meetings and donor visits, and maintaining accurate donor records.
The role sits in the Philanthropy team of the Development Department and is managed by the Head of Philanthropy. You will work closely with colleagues across both the Development Department and the wider organisation.
Main duties
New Business
- Undertake prospect research across the spectrum of philanthropic income in collaboration with the Head of Philanthropy - including identification, due diligence, qualification, and creating briefings and outreach plans
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy to identify and cultivate a prospect pool of potential donors, looking at lapsed supporters, current low-level donors, stakeholder network mapping through the Board and Trustees, as well as philanthropists with an active interest in education/social mobility
- Work with the Head of Philanthropy and other colleagues to implement, promote, and maintain a low-level online giving campaign, including transition of our online giving capabilities to the Trust's website, and automated stewardship activation
- Support the Head of Philanthropy to lead the Sutton Trust's approach to alumni fundraising - working collaboratively with the Alumni team in the Programmes directorate to develop and deliver a compelling alumni fundraising campaign
- Support the Head of Philanthropy to devise and implement a compelling legacy campaign, driving sustainable future philanthropic income
- Work with colleagues across the Development team to identify, qualify, cultivate and secure prospects, using resources effectively where there are links between corporates, individuals, and trusts & foundations
Stewardship and Cultivation
- Manage the Trust's online fundraising platforms, such as JustGiving and CAF, to enable smooth processes and a high-quality experience for donors, ensuring new and existing donors are appropriately thanked and have inclination to support in the future
- Be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of mid-level donors, providing excellent relationship management from cultivation to stewardship
- Be responsible for elements of the planning and delivery of meaningful engagement events for supporters of the Trust, supported by and working with the Head of Philanthropy and relevant colleagues
- Support the Director of Development and Head of Philanthropy to provide high-quality stewardship and management of the Development Board and Fellows

- Respond to queries from prospective and current donors in a warm, professional and timely manner, delivering high-quality stewardship and upholding the reputation of the Trust
- Support the Director of Development and Heads in the Development team to manage logistics of their roles - including support for booking meetings and travel, submitting expenses, and creating briefings
- Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences, delivering presentations and providing expertise as required
- Work with colleagues to deliver impactful events to cultivate prospects and steward partners, with a focus on experience for individual supporters and prospects
- Work with colleagues across Development and Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, income tracking, and reporting for philanthropic income

Person Specification
Skills and experience:
- Experience building and managing relationships with individuals, ideally in a philanthropy team or other fundraising capacity, or in sales or other relevant professional capacity.
- Experience researching and prioritising information to drive decisions. Evidence of researching qualifying individuals, ideally to create a clear and prioritised propsect pipeline, is not essential but will help you to stand out.
- Experience working with or supporting colleagues across an organisation to make successful asks or secure a specific outcome. Evidence of making financial asks, ideally to secure major donors and cultivate new donors, is not essential, but will help you to stand out.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and tasks to successfully achieve project or other goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to write persuasive and engaging materials, and to communicate effectively with the aim of inspiring and encouraging giving

The Operations Manager is a key role within the team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the SLG’s three sites: the Main Gallery, the Fire Station and Art Block. This includes managing the maintenance and upkeep of the SLG’s Grade II listed buildings and artist-designed gardens, as well as leading the Front of House team to ensure that the SLG provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and a high quality of visitor experience.

Evidence and Evaluation Officers are key to generating and synthesising evidence on what works and developing resources to support its translation to policy makers, commissioners and practitioners.

You will organise and deliver a variety of Cancer Research UK events, including our flagship outdoor mass participation events Race for Life 5km, 10km and Pretty Muddy. You may also deliver Shine Night Walk, indoor staff and supporter conference and engagement events, as well as virtual online events.
What will I be doing?
Recruiting, planning, organising, delivering, reviewing and maximising income for an agreed number of complex and large scale events ensuring participants have a positively memorable, enjoyable and safe event experience
Planning, organising and delivering regional marketing activity including: flyer and poster distribution, regional PR, launch activities and promo days, liaising with press and media and using social media platforms to recruit event participants
Ownership for ensuring events fill to capacity, altering plans and prioritising to achieve success
Producing detailed planning documentation, and accurate event budgets within set deadlines
Building knowledge of and relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and influencers in the communities where events are held
Managing local and national suppliers for each event, negotiating to ensure quality of service whilst keeping costs to a minimum
Recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers to support the delivery of regional marketing activity and event day delivery
Recruiting and supervising seasonal casual paid-for staff
Being the first point of contact for any issues relating to the welfare of our participants or spectators at events, which includes looking after lost or found children.
What skills are you looking for?
Knowledge and experience of marketing strategies, practice and execution of activity (including promotional activity)
Experience of event planning, management and delivery - preferably mass participation e.g. over 1000 people
A solid understanding of Health & Safety guidelines and practice
Experience of working with budgets and monitoring and reporting on expenditure
Experience of setting up new events or delivering event trials and test events
An understanding of the principles of volunteer recruitment and management
Comfortable with physically challenging activity i.e. lifting and moving event equipment
Strong time management and prioritisation skills with experience of meeting tight deadlines
Excellent administration skills including accuracy and attention to detail (with documentation, processes, procedures)
Full clean driving licence and confident to drive a long wheel-based van.

Person Specification

- Excellent relationship building and application writing skills. Experience in Trust fundraising or an equivalent field is desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Provide tailored, high-quality stewardship to a range of large and medium-sized Trusts & Foundations.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and build relationships with new Trusts and Foundations to further grow this income stream.
- Prioritise research to constantly develop future pipeline.
- Work with Head of Philanthropy and other senior stakeholders in engaging potential funders and managing strategic Trusts & Statutory partners.
Write applications and reports
- Develop compelling funding applications for Trusts and occasionally statutory funders, articulating Resurgo's vision and strategy to persuasively engage new donors with a focus on raising five and six-figure grants.
- Stay ahead of sector trends, media, and political context to market Resurgo's interventions in a compelling way.
- Develop general communications on the work of Resurgo to inspire and update our Trust audience.
- Produce reports and updates on the impact of our work for funders in a timely manner.
Data Management and Monitoring
- Update our internal database (Salesforce) with all donor interactions, donations and other details ina timely and efficient manner and with strong attention to detail, and analyse data to give insights' and drive future activity.
- Manage the Trusts & Foundations and Statutory pipelines and report on income and other KPIs, and ensure Trusts & Foundations team meets monthly targets and deadlines.
Line Management
- Actively manage and develop the Trusts & Foundations Executive to help them grow personally and in their role.

What will I be doing?
Lead the development and implementation of the Crick specific philanthropy campaign, working with the Associate Director to develop the overarching campaign strategy, scope, and goals.
Partner with senior leadership as well as scientists, philanthropy and operational colleagues to develop and implement strategies for the campaign; guide discussions with senior leadership on campaign strategy and develop a multi-year campaign plan.
Inspire and engage the multiple stakeholders of the Campaign, ensuring that everyone involved is engaged, has a clear understanding of what is expected of them, particularly working in partnership with colleagues in philanthropy, communications, scientific leadership and CRUK.
