Job title: Immediate Support Coordinator – Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset

Reports to: Bereavement Services Manager for England

Salary: Starting salary of £26,500 per annum

Location: Home working with regular travel throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire initially. Following further expansion of our service in July 2025, the post-holder will cover Shropshire instead of Gloucestershire.

Occasional travel to 2wish Head Office in South Wales.

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours over 5 days

Objective:

2wish exists to provide support to anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under.

Aims:

• Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite
• Ensure that bereavement boxes are available at each of these hospitals
• Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families

Context of role:

2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We provide immediate casework support, as well as ongoing services including counselling, complementary therapies, play therapy, coffee mornings, support events and a respite cottage.

As we continue to expand our services across England the successful candidate will play a central role in the ongoing development of our relationships with stakeholders. Initiative and drive play an integral part of ensuring our professional stakeholders remain engaged and champion our service to those we support. The post holder will provide immediate and ongoing emotional and practical support to families, friends, witnesses and professionals affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult.

Main duties:

Service:

• To initiate immediate support for a caseload of families whose children and young people aged 0- 25 have died suddenly and unexpectedly across the county you reside in and bordering counties
• To contact all families within 24-48 hours of the referrals by telephone
• Complete an initial assessment of families’ needs to identify and plan the support as required in line with safeguarding and risk reduction
• Offer emotional support and advice to a case load of families through home visits and ongoing
  weekly telephone calls
• To liaise with the Counselling Support and Outreach Coordinator, who is responsible for
  organising formal support such as counselling, complementary therapy or play therapy, subject to
  consent from the bereaved individual
• To work with hospital staff, GP’s, police officers, coroner offices, mental health teams and other
  healthcare professionals to raise awareness of and promote referrals into the charity from the county you reside in and bordering counties
• To liaise with other professionals working alongside the family to provide a holistic and multiagency approach to support
• Attend relevant forums within the area
• To deliver awareness training in hospitals and other healthcare settings, schools and workplaces on the use of the bereavement boxes, the services we offer, ho to refer into the charity and bereavement awareness
• To ensure families have been offered a memory box and coordinate these when required
• Facilitate debriefs within professional settings following a traumatic or sudden death of a child
  or young person
• To work with hospital trusts to establish and maintain the upkeep of suitable bereavement suites for bereaved individuals to use as required
• Maintain stock of 2wish memory boxes and deliver boxes to partner organisations as required
• To submit monthly/quarterly/annual reports to Bereavement Services Manager as required
• To signpost and/or refer to other agencies as required that can provide support as needed
• Cover members of the support team for annual leave and/or sickness
• To travel to attend in-person team meetings and in-person training as required

General:

• To travel to in-person events as required
• To be responsible for organising own work agenda, time management and administration
• To show respect and sensitivity for the cultural and religious beliefs of families
• To undertake learning opportunities and seek them out for the team
• To adhere to all company policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Confidentiality,
  Health and Safety and Lone Working; and to be proactive in implementing new safe working
  practices as appropriate
• To attend weekend and evening community events in support of the charity as necessary
• Participate as and when required in team meetings and one-to-one meetings, and undertake,
  as appropriate, courses/training/other developmental activities, which is relevant to the role
• Contribute on the social media platforms maintained by 2wish

It is the nature of the work that tasks and responsibilities are in may circumstances
unpredictable and varied. All employees are therefore expected to work in a flexible way and tasks, which are not specifically covered in their job description may have to be undertaken.

You will be subject to performance review, which will incorporate a review of the above duties and performance over the period.

What We’re Looking For:

• A proven track record of securing significant income from trusts, foundations and public sector funders, including six-figure grants

· Strong bid writing skills, with the ability to develop compelling cases for support tailored to different funders

· Experience developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies and meeting or exceeding ambitious income targets.

· Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across departments and working at senior levels.

Salary: £34,577 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

About the role:

As Member Relations Co-ordinator, you will play a key role in growing and strengthening our diverse co-operative network. You will contribute to the delivery of our membership strategy, manage relationships with current and prospective members, and support the development of membership services and products. You will be the first point of contact for member enquiries, ensuring a responsive and high-quality experience, while also supporting initiatives to improve member engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support the implementation of the membership and engagement strategy, contributing to KPIs and team targets as required.

• Develop a deep understanding of our members, managing recruitment, retention, and account management to build strong, sustainable relationships.

• Maintain expert knowledge of our subscription model, products, and services, ensuring member needs are met and income targets achieved.

• Collaborate across teams to align organisational activities with membership goals and develop income-generating services that meet member needs.

• Stay informed on sector trends and developments to enhance our member offer, services, and ways of working.

• Act as a key contact for member insights, providing accurate, timely data to support bids and communications.

• Maintain member records and perform analysis and reporting via our CRM (Salesforce) to support performance tracking and process improvements.

• Manage complex member queries and act as an escalation point for the Member Relations team.

• Lead on account management of federal members, dual memberships, and selected partner members, developing strong relationships and commercial understanding.

• Support the renewal process, membership campaigns, and communications planning, helping to increase member retention and acquisition.

• Contribute to high-quality membership processes and ensure governance structures reflect our co-operative identity.

• Actively support the Member Services Lead with wider membership functions and continuous process improvement.

You will provide advice and representation to rough sleepers within northwest London to end homelessness. By resolving immigration status of service users, you will help eliminate destitution and allow them to access support for a better future - an initiative funded under the London Councils Homelessness Project. 

You will work closely with supporting organisations including local authorities and homelessness organisations to break down barriers caused by immigration status and support migrant communities to thrive and become independent.

Sadly, due to In the height of the cost of living crisis, homlessness persists in the capital. As a result, the Mayors project has now been extended to end of March 2026 so we can continue supporting those facing destitution.

• Supporting the expansion and transformation of our client advice services by ensuring operational service procedures are established, embedded and monitored.

Job Description

Science communication sits at the heart of everything we do at CSC. In this role, you’ll continue to deliver inspiring STEM engagement first-hand at our venues, while also leading and developing our dynamic team of Science and Weekend Communicators.

Your goal is to ensure that every visitor enjoys a high-quality, meaningful experience — one that stands out as one of the most positive and memorable STEM encounters of their lives. Achieving this means cultivating a team that feels confident, supported, and genuinely excited to come to work each day.

You will foster a collaborative and supportive team culture, taking responsibility for training schedules and rota management. While maintaining a proactive, can-do approach to service delivery, you’ll also keep a close eye on team capacity — raising any concerns and suggesting solutions to management in a timely and constructive way.

Working closely with the Visitor Experience Manager and the Outreach and Innovation Manager, you’ll motivate your team to maintain high standards across all CSC sites and actively encourage visitors to take advantage of engagement opportunities — from membership sign-ups and events to charitable donations and shop visits.

Key Responsibilities

• At both our main Cambridge centre and outreach venues, empower your team to deliver exceptional visitor experiences — creating positive STEM moments that have the power to inspire and transform.

• You are an active member of your team, delivering public, school, and community STEM engagement alongside the Science and Weekend Communicators.

• You take ownership of the Science and Weekend Communicator training calendar, working closely with the Product Development Officer and Visitor Experience Manager to schedule training in areas such as product knowledge, health and safety, and risk mitigation. You ensure strong training coverage across the team, supporting members to attend sessions promptly and make the most of the learning opportunities they provide.

• You take ownership of your team’s rota, oversee their logistics, and ensure their commitment to maintaining clean, organised, low-risk venues and well-prepared science communication kits.

• You work with the Visitor Experience Manager and Outreach and Innovation Manager to plan your team’s activities at least two months in advance, while remaining responsive to any circumstances that require swift rota adjustments.

• You coordinate feedback from your team on stock replenishment for science communication kits and ensure timely communication of these needs to the Delivery and Sales Administrator. 

• Ensure the team is actively discussing and capturing insights about CSC audiences and the effectiveness of our interventions through observation, as well as formal and informal feedback.

• Ensure our venues are kept clean, tidy, and low-risk, with a prompt and effective response to any unforeseen circumstances.

• Ensure the team completes and archives risk assessments, and that any incidents are promptly resolved, handled effectively and considerately, and properly reported.

• Support your team in understanding and managing their capacity during both busy and quieter periods, and encourage individuals to assist the Product and Community Development teams when they have availability.

• Ensure your team is well-versed in how to promote CSC’s products, services, and charitable mission — and that they do so actively and confidently.

• Stay up to date with STEM news and best-in-class science communication practices across the sector.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

• At least 3 years’ experience as a Science Communicator

• Clear understanding of the operational processes and training needs for an effective Science Communicator team

• A reliable, detail-oriented, and responsive manager who supports individual team members, encourages creative thinking, and helps them bring their personality into their work

• Maintain a constant focus on improving processes, actively implementing changes where appropriate, and consulting with management when proposed changes may be significant or disruptive

• A clear vision for developing the skills, confidence, and overall effectiveness of your science communication team

• An eye for identifying compelling case studies and media content — including quotes, photos, and videos — to support the Marketing & Communications Manager in promoting CSC and showcasing your team’s excellence

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

• A people person: interested in individuals, skilled at active listening and responsive to interests and needs of young people and the adults in their lives

• Driven to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes in everything you do

Working Conditions

The primary locations for this role will be Cambridge Science Centre's Head Office at 44 Clifton Road, Cambridge, CB1 7ED (assigned desk or workspace) and the Cambridge Science Centre at Trinity Centre, Cambridge Science Park, CB4 0FN (hotdesking model).

Working one weekend every three weeks, depending on Centre capacity. CSC plans rotas at least 4 weeks in advance to avoid consecutive weekend commitment where possible to do so.

In addition, there will be frequent travel (primarily driving with a company or hire vehicle) to the semi-permanent centre (Inspire Wisbech Centre, Wisbech, PE13 1AR) and, on occasion a variety of locations across the East of England, including schools and community venues, which will include occasional overnight stays.

We offer the option of flexible hybrid working where and when possible, when not delivering sessions.
