Are you a strong, visionary leader keen to advocate for the VCSE sector? Are you interested in bringing people and organisations together to collaborate on the future of community led services across Hampshire and to be the public face of the organisation?

We’re committed to inclusivity, equity and to the wellbeing and safety of our team. This role offers a high degree of flexibility in working hours and can be delivered remotely, apart from bimonthly coworking or away days in Hampshire. You’ll have the opportunity to set your own development goals and targets and receive support to achieve them. Joining a friendly and supportive team, you’ll be able to manage your own time and work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and contractors. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your strengths to other parts of the organisation too.
Key tasks include:

For almost 75 years, we’ve supported communities across Hampshire. Our responsive approach means we work across a wide range of issues relevant to our communities, from increasing the availability of rural affordable housing to ensuring cancer awareness messaging reaches seldom heard communities.
There has never been a more exciting time to join our talented, ambitious and friendly team. Our new 3-year strategy sets out clear goals and actions which we’ll achieve together. Our leadership team are embedding a culture of learning, experimentation and development. Our team is caring, collaborative and driven by our values of being bold, enterprising, informative, and empowering. We very much welcome applications from all members of the community, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, faith or disability. One in 20 adults in the UK has never learnt to read at all, but it is never too late to learn. Read Easy UK is a volunteer organisation that delivers one-to-one reading coaching to adults aged from 18-88 through a network of affiliated, locally run volunteer groups.
With its free, flexible, confidential approach, Read Easy encourages many people who are too embarrassed to join a class to come forward for one-to-one support. Each new reader is provided with their own personal Reading Coach, so that they can learn in private and at their own pace. Learning to read transforms their lives in many other ways as well, including enabling them to support their children’s and grandchildren’s reading, and so transfers the benefits to the next generation.
There are currently 76 affiliated Read Easy groups across England, together involving more than a thousand volunteers. Read Easy UK is the registered charity and umbrella organisation, based in north Gloucestershire, which supports this network of volunteer groups.
As our South West Regional Adviser, you would be providing high quality support to our 14 volunteer groups across Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Avon, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. Your support will ensure that they provide the same for their volunteers and Readers. From meeting with Team Leaders to provide one to one support to delivering refresher training for small groups of volunteers this is a dynamic and rewarding role.
You will need to have experience of working with volunteers; strong people management and interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; and the confidence to run meetings and deliver presentations.
This is a part-time role for 15 hours per week. Please note that this role is home-based, requires flexibility and involves regular travel within the region and occasional evening and weekend working. The successful candidate will have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years.

About us
Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.
This is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on the delivery of our new organisational strategy to end homelessness. You will directly contribute to this by supporting policy change, helping to improve practice, and by supporting other organisations to end homelessness too.
Contract: 9-month Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover
Location: To be based in any of the Crisis Skylights in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Oxford, South Wales, Central London, Croydon, or Brent, but with home working as an option in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy
About the role
As Crisis looks forward to the next decade, we have a clear vision of how homelessness can be ended in the UK. This will be achieved by securing the policy changes that will solve homelessness, by delivering services that end homelessness for people and places, and by building a community of people across Britain who are helping to end homelessness.
As Senior Best Practice Officer, you will support each of these areas. You will work alongside Crisis’ policy, communications, and campaigns teams in England, Scotland, and Wales, to further Crisis’ policy objectives and ambition through knowledge and practice examples.
You will support the development of Crisis’s own services across Skylight Centres informed by best practice identified internally and externally. This will include leading a Community of Practice within Crisis.
You will support communities across Britain that are helping to end homelessness, by building relationships with external organisations and supporting the development of tools and resources to enable them to end homelessness. For example, you will be directly involved in exciting projects like developing a Built for Zero approach in defined areas and supporting our charity partner Lloyds Banking Group to develop their approaches to ending homelessness too.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have great networking skills and be good at making relationships across different sectors.
You’ll understand how local authorities and wider public bodies work and be able to build connections and rapport with individuals working there.
You’ll understand housing and homelessness systems and the current legal frameworks that underpin them across the UK. You’ll know how services can be designed to make sure that those who need help can get it and how to listen to the voices of those who use it.
You’ll be passionate about change and seeing homelessness ended, with a drive and energy to shape the role to do this.
We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities, and backgrounds.
