About the role
We are the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative newsroom. Media partners around the world publish our reporting and hold power to account across five areas: environment, health, big tech, dirty money, and local power.
This role will initially focus on supporting two of those teams as they deliver journalism that drives real-world change. But it may also support work on new and emerging issues such as the rise of mis- and disinformation and how that affects UK communities. The two teams are:

Bureau Local: works with communities to uncover hidden stories in the UK. The Bureau Local team has reported on the exploitation of migrant workers, run a community-led project aimed at giving voice to the Trans+ community, and brought transparency to the family courts system through reporting and training.

Enablers: investigates the lawyers, accountants, and financial structures that allow dirty money to flow through the UK. Their work has prompted major regulatory investigations and legal action, challenging how corruption is facilitated at home and abroad..
Our fundraising
The Bureau is almost entirely funded through grants and donations – without our supporters, we couldn’t do what we do. Over recent years, we’ve grown to a team of 35 people with an annual income of £2.8m, backed by a committed network of trusts, foundations, and individuals.
This is an exciting time to join our fundraising team as we build on those strong relationships and explore new ways to diversify our income.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work with project leads to take their ideas and build a strong case for support, translating complex issues into powerful, accessible narratives for funders.
- Manage relationships with existing funders, ensuring timely reporting, effective stewardship and continued support.
- Research and develop a pipeline of new prospects.
- Write compelling proposals and applications to secure new grants.
- Collaborate with our other Fundraising Manager, who leads on environment, global health and big tech, and occasionally help in those areas.
- Potentially support projects to diversify our income, such as helping to grow our major donor programme.
- Work closely with colleagues across the Bureau - from reporters and impact producers to operations and finance – and play an active part in maintaining a collaborative, supportive workplace culture.
- Pitch in on a range of fundraising tasks, big and small, to keep the Bureau in the best position to deliver its journalism.

What the job involves
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and it’s harming too many lives. At Prostate Cancer UK, one of our top priorities is funding research that leads to real change. It’s vital we do our best to make sure this research makes a meaningful difference to men’s lives, and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Research Officer to help us deliver our funding schemes and patient and public involvement work. This role sits in the Research Funding Team and will provide us with additional support during an exciting time while we implement a new grants management system. You’ll work across all our grant funding schemes, ensuring we are following best practise in research funding.
You’ll take responsibility for a small portfolio of active research grants, providing support and guidance to the researchers leading them. You’ll be a main point of contact for grant applicants, supporting them as they apply to us and will be responsible for running peer review. Using your understanding of research funding and administration, you’ll help make sure our funding schemes run smoothly and to time. You’ll work with colleagues to support patient and public involvement in research both in our review process and through our Patient Representative Network who help researchers make sure their work is focussed on the needs of men with prostate cancer.
This role is a fixed term to cover an internal secondment for 12 months.
What we want from you
We’re looking for a Senior Research Officer who is passionate about research and has a desire to develop knowledge of prostate cancer. You’ll hold a biomedical degree (or a degree in a related subject), or with equivalent experience gained in research funding, administration or the wider research sector.
You’ll already have a good grasp of how grant funding works and, ideally, some experience of research administration and peer review. Confidence in interpreting complex scientific information is important, as you’ll be using this knowledge to find the right people to peer review the grant applications that are submitted to our schemes.
You're also an accurate record keeper with a keen eye for detail and excellent time management skills. You're assured and clear in your communication, both written and verbal, and you're able to respond to a wide range of inquiries from researchers while always adhering to data protection and confidentiality best practices. Experience of using Symplectic’s Grant Tracker would be an advantage but is not essential.

Job Overview
As the Advocacy Manager, you are responsible for crafting our influence strategies on refugee issues, using IRC’s programmatic and research evidence, surgical policy and practice solutions, and trusted brand to inspire collective action. You are the go-to expert for understanding current political and policy trends in the UK and how our policies support or clash with political agendas. You contribute your fresh insights and analysis to inform IRC’s influence approaches, tactics, and messages.
Major Responsibilities:
• Advocacy Strategy: Lead and deliver advocacy strategies, collaborating with policy leads, public advocacy and communications colleagues, to advance IRC’s key advocacy objectives.
• Influence Analysis: Develop power maps for key policy issues to identify influence priorities and targets. Role Overview
upReach is seeking to hire an Organisational Initiatives and Governance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with upReach’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on strategic projects, internal communication, governance, and other internal and external initiatives.
The role will provide direct support to the SLT, building their capacity and enabling the charity to continue to grow and increase its impact. They will support the collection of key data for strategic decision making and take responsibility for regular and accurate reporting to our Boards, whilst also leading on the planning and delivery of several key projects. Projects they work on will include exploring how to best expand our work in Scotland and coordinating the cohesive delivery of work that falls under the umbrella of our ‘Double Benefit’ approach.
Whilst Governance and the support provided to the SLT will remain consistent in this role, organisational initiatives will change over time, depending on where it is agreed with the SLT that the ROI is greatest and can best achieve upReach’s overarching mission.
Core Responsibilities
The Organisational Initiatives and Governance Manager will report to the Director of People and Strategy and work on initiatives and projects that the SLT believe will help us to best achieve our mission. In addition to this, the Organisational Initiatives and Governance Manager will also work closely with the SLT to provide governance and operational support. This will include coordinating with Trustees to organise the yearly calendar of governance events and preparing papers for Trustees, Advisory Board and Services meetings, including the Annual Report.
This role will require influencing and collaboration in order to deliver upReach’s mission through a range of stakeholders across the team.
Core responsibilities will include:
1) Strategic Projects & Organisational Initiatives

Be the operational driver of organisational initiatives, as agreed on by SLT, that have an impact on the success of upReach’s mission and our impact on Associates across the country.

Projects may be outward facing or operational in scope, depending on what is deemed to be of most importance at the time. They may also be at different stages in their life cycle, and as such, the role may require initial exploration phases, creation of implementation plans and the coordination of different teams to complete and assess success, as required by the specific initiative.

Drive plans regarding how best upReach can expand its work in Scotland. Having recently successfully registered as a Scottish charity we are exploring what expansion could and should look like, and this role will work on the practicalities regarding how upReach can sustainably support more students in Scotland. Pending approval of plans from the SLT and Board, the role would lead on enacting the agreed upon approach.

4) Double Benefit Approach

Have oversight of a cohesive, deliberate programme of Double Benefit effective practice at upReach, working across teams to do so. This will include:

Supporting the Events team in the creation of the agenda and delivery of the annual Championing Change event in collaboration with Bank of America, bringing together employers across industries to promote inclusion and social mobility.

Support work on policy being led by the Marketing and Communications Team to ensure it is cohesive with our wider Double Benefit approach.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Head of Financial Operations & Control is a pivotal senior leadership role, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of all financial records across The Courtauld and its subsidiaries. You will oversee core financial operations, reporting, tax and treasury management, investment support, regulatory compliance, and risk management, playing a key role in safeguarding the financial stability and integrity of the institution.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Lead the finance function, including financial accounting, control, compliance

· A qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
· Significant experience in managing financial control and operations including VAT, Tax relief, treasury in a charitable/education/not-for-profit organisation of similar size and complexity
· Able to self-sufficiently lead a smooth, accurate and timely year end process
· Strong technical expertise in accounting standards, able to ensure correct accounting treatment of restricted, unrestricted and endowment income
· A proven track record of leading finance teams and driving process improvements, thriving to develop a best-in-class finance function
· Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence at a senior level
· Experience in investment and endowment accounting is strongly desirable
