English PEN is the founding centre of PEN International, a worldwide writers’ association with over 130 centres in more than 90 countries. We have a strong track record in campaigning in the UK and internationally. Our work has included campaigns for individual writers at risk; advocacy on UK legislation; coordinating residencies for writers; supporting displaced and exiled writers in the UK; and convening roundtables, events, and vigils relating to our campaigns work.

To support our work in these areas, we are seeking to appoint a Campaigns Officer to join our team.

This full-time post is based in English PEN’s small but busy London office. The Campaigns Officer will report to the Head of Campaigns, who leads on our campaigning work across the organisation, and will work closely with the wider English PEN team.

JOB PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN DETAIL: 

Sport Directorate 

To support the on-going management of a cohesive and collaborative Sport Team environment which proactively embraces cross directorate / partnership working, additionally to: 

• Project management of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy within the Sport Directorate
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Sport regarding the implementation of the ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy; identifying and communicating potential and actual risks in a timely manner 
• Proactively identify and develop key strategic performance partnerships both within the UK and overseas to support delivery of organisational objectives 
• Deputise for the Head of Sport in his / her absence at key meetings and activities on an agreed basis 
• Support to the Director of Sport and Head of Sport in delivering identified organisational objectives

Games Services Strategy 

Responsible for the management and effective delivery of identified elements of ParalympicsGB’s Games Services Strategy including: 

• Management of team data and the development of ParalympicsGB Base, including budget management. 
• Management of team qualification including performance and qualification tracking and reporting.
• Management of selecting the team including support to all Paralympic sports with selection policies and processes.
• Management of accrediting the team for the ParalympicsGB delegation, including collaboration with Games Operations in updating the Delegation Overview.

Team Development Strategy:

Provide support to the Director of Sport and the Head of Athlete Services for the following aspects of ParalympicsGB’s team development strategy:

• Support the ParalympicsGB team Games recruitment project
• Lead the planning group for Team Development Programmes, including event and budget management

Working Hours

Our Young People need care 24/7 so we have fixed rotas, with staff needing to be able to commit to weekends and bank holidays.

For Waking Night support staff; shifts are 11.5 hours from 20:00 - 07:30 or 21:00 - 08:30, on average you will be working 40 hours a week.

There is always the possibility to do overtime if you need a bit extra, this is paid time and half; same as bank holidays.

The Digital Inclusion Worker will be responsible for providing targeted one-to-one digital support and delivering workshops to both disabled and non-disabled residents of Enfield, helping them to improve their digital skills. We have a health and safety management plan which following on from our Health and Safety audit, has outlined the framework for this role and what is needed to be implemented over the next 12 months.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Work with both Head of HR and Operations Manager on certain aspects of office Health & Safety with as and where necessary

About the role

Primarily, Consultants work in project teams, led by a Senior Consultant or Manager, to deliver consultancy project work to external clients (e.g. charities, social enterprises, foundations), using existing Spring Impact methodologies. This work includes:

• Contributing, through analysis and critical thinking, to shaping the strategic direction of projects and recommendations to partners

• Preparing first draft documents, slide decks, write ups, reports etc

• Conducting interviews and focus groups

• Supporting workshop design and co-facilitating

• Delivering training workshops

• Develop financial models (you will be trained to do this!)

• Conduct desk-based research, interviews and focus groups with partners, stakeholders and their beneficiaries

• Coordinate project administration and logistics

Beyond working with our partners, there is the opportunity to contribute to internal activities such as:

• Contributing to best practice and methodology development and codification, 

• Improving our Monitoring & Evaluation,

• Developing our external communications 

• Developing proposals for new and existing clients

Your first six months

You will learn about our approach to working with others, and creating impact at scale, through a mix of team-led training, project-shadowing and self-directed study.

Within the first two weeks, you’ll be introduced to clients and begin to support internal teams to deliver consulting, coaching and training. You will work on a mix of UK- and internationally-focused projects, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients to navigate challenges on their journeys to scale.

 How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. All Employees are homebased meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

About the role

As a Children’s Residential Worker, you will directly look after children and young people who have complex emotional and mental health needs due to trauma, loss and other adverse experiences.

You will be required to support children to regulate and understand their emotions. Working within a therapeutic framework, you will develop a direct programme of work aimed at developing authentic relationships with our children and young people (aged 12 – 17 years old on admission to the Children’s Home).

You will have a key role in making sure our children are safe and happy. You will also be required to work collaboratively with key professionals to ensure that information is recorded and shared appropriately, as well as to enable children to receive the multi-agency support that they require.
