About the role

We are looking to recruit a support worker to be the main point of contact for a specific set of service users who access housing, EET (education, employability, and training) and mental health support through First Choice Housing. You will work closely with those service users that you support to develop support plans, identify appropriate activities and services, and collaborate with internal and external partners to help each person achieve their goals and deliver great impact. You will work with the Programmes and Impact Manager and external partners to develop programmes or projects of interest to our service users and encourage engagement. As support worker you will also support the delivery of discreet streams of work including one to one or group digital skills sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordinating tailored support for each client to help them ultimately enter sustainable independent living (likely in the privately rented sector). This includes supporting service users to: access internal and external opportunities and services; liaise with voluntary and statutory agencies; and maintain their tenancies with FCH and to access privately rented housing.
• Managing the onboarding of clients who are newly accessing FCH services. This includes assessing client needs and co-producing support plans; supporting their integration into their shared accommodation with their housemates; and helping them identify local amenities.
• To maintain weekly contact with service users assigned to you as part of building strong relationships and delivering high quality services.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders including the local authority, other charities and community leaders. Maintain awareness of the activities and services on offer locally and disseminate knowledge to the broader team as appropriate (please note this is a shared responsibility across the team).
• Update and accurately maintain First Chocie Housings database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes. This data will include recording interactions with service users, progress towards achieving or meeting goals, baseline and subsequent outcomes stars and client surveys.
• Where appropriate, work with the Programmes and Impact Manager to manage volunteers delivering discreet programmes.
• Proactively working with the broader team to improve service delivery and drive impact.

• 5 A*- C GCSEs or up to NVQ Level 2/3

What You’ll Be Doing

As Emerging Gen Lead, you will drive World Vision UK’s mission to inspire and mobilise the next generation of Christians towards justice, generosity, and global mission. Reporting to the Director of Ministry Development, you will lead our engagement with youth, student, and young adult audiences (ages 13–25), creating bold, innovative pathways for them to connect their faith with action for the world’s most vulnerable children.

• Plan and deliver engaging careers assemblies that expand students’ awareness of post-16 and post-18 pathways, alongside other relevant career-related topics
• Provide impartial, tailored career guidance through one-to-one meetings and group sessions that empower students to make informed, realistic and adaptable decisions about their futures
• Accurately record all guidance interactions and agreed actions on Unifrog, ensuring student data is kept up to date and accessible
• Offer targeted support to students navigating post-16 and post-18 transitions, including referrals to specialist services for those with additional needs, such as SEND

What we're looking for

Essential

• Proven experience leading education, training, or professional services in a charity, education, or not-for-profit setting.

Our work across Newcastle
Volunteering Matters play a vital role supporting volunteering in Newcastle. Since 2005, we have been operating Volunteer Centre Newcastle (VCN). This service provides a wide range of support around all things volunteering to 1250+ charities, organisations, and groups locally. Each year, we also support 2500+ members of the public who are interested in volunteering and need support to get started. We also lead the Home from Hospital and Community Support project where volunteers support older people with their transition home following a hospital admission. 

In early 2025, we launched the Good Neighbours Newcastle project funded by Newcastle City Council. We deliver this project alongside our delivery partner organisation, Search Newcastle, with a second partner organisation scheduled to join in early 2026.

Good Neighbours project
We would all like to live in a place that has a sense of community, where people look out for their neighbours. The Good Neighbours project aims to foster a feeling of positive wellbeing and independence for those who may be socially isolated, or who don’t have many people around them, giving that “little bit of help”.

The project helps people in the community feel safe, supported, and more able to live an independent life, whilst preventing, reducing and delaying the need for formal support through Adult Social Care. It also provides people the opportunity to volunteer a little time, in a flexible way, to make a difference in their own community. We know volunteering can lead to enhanced skills, and positive wellbeing. Volunteers provide practical or social support, completing “one-off’ or short-term tasks, supporting a neighbour.  This includes tasks like collecting essentials, driving someone to a GP appointment, helping with odd jobs around the house, light gardening, or checking in with someone for a cuppa and chat. 

Role Purpose
We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Project Manager to join our team in Newcastle.  The right candidate would be someone with excellent knowledge of “best practice” in Volunteer Management and with experience of establishing new and exciting volunteering programmes.

This is a senior role within our Newcastle team so it is essential that the postholder is agile, can work flexibly, is an excellent communicator, and can build strong working relationships with a range of people. 

In this role, you will:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the Good Neighbours project, meeting ambitious goals, ensuring all volunteers and beneficiaries achieve positive outcomes
   
• Lead and manage our partnerships on a day-to-day level with Search Newcastle and another local charity, to raise the profile of the project, ensuring successful delivery and ongoing development of the work
   
• Manage and lead our use of the volunteer management system, Volunteero, ensuring its effective use across our Newcastle work

The Youth Employability Service 

CXK delivers the Youth Employability Service (YES) across East Sussex, commissioned by East Sussex County Council. We offer information, advice, support and guidance to young people in academic years 12 and 13 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), helping them to explore their options, plan and then take their next steps. We also work with schools supporting young people in year 11 who are at risk of becoming NEET and those who have been Electively Home Educated. Liaising with a range of other services, YES is focussed on supporting young people to achieve their potential.

The Team

The YES team support young people from across the county, seeing them at CXK bases, partner venues or in community settings. The team assess and action plan with young people referred to the service, supporting them to understand their options and take steps toward achieving their goals around education, training and /or employment. Working with a wide range of young people, the team approach is focused, creative and persistent, building on young peoples’ confidence and motivation alongside their skills and personal growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Skills and Employability Adviser.

You will support a caseload of young people aged 16 to 18 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), or at risk of becoming NEET with part of your caseload being Electively Home Educated Year 11 young people who may be at risk of becoming NEET. You will guide them through re-engagement with suitable post-16 provisions and provide targeted intervention to those who have withdrawn from or not started their Post 16 provisions.

Working across the West of the county, including Wealden, with schools and FE Colleges you will play a key role in ensuring that young people receive the tailored guidance and support they need to progress confidently into further education, training, or employment. You will build positive working relationships through co-located working, and accurate input into relevant databases.

This role also supports our Electively Home Educated Year 11’s with transition support to their Post 16 pathway.

You will maintain regular contact with the young people you support, building trust and ensuring that casework is delivered with care and consistency. Your role will involve assessing needs, action planning, reviewing progress, and adapting support as required. You'll also act as a champion for relevant opportunities and resources—ensuring young people, parents/carers, providers, and wider stakeholders are aware of what’s available and how it can help.

About You

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience working with NEET, Risk of NEET young people, who understands the post-16 education and training landscape and the importance of person-centred support. You will be a confident communicator and collaborator, able to manage a varied caseload and make a genuine impact on the lives of the young people you support.
