Job Title: Director of Operations - Maternity Cover

Salary: £55,000 - 65,000

About the Role 

The Director of Operations is a member of GiveOut’s leadership team, partnering closely with the Executive Director, they will lead on all operational matters, ensuring GiveOut is an efficient, compliant, and resilient institution capable of delivering lasting impact.

The Director of Operations oversees the charity’s financial and administrative systems, human resources, compliance and risk management, and internal communications. They will support the Executive Director in strategic planning, budget management, governance, stakeholder reporting, and cross-organisational projects, deputising for the Executive Director when required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader with strong operational, financial, and people management experience who is passionate about advancing LGBTQI rights globally.

Key Responsibilities

Governance and Compliance

• Support the Executive Director in servicing the Board of Trustees; preparing papers, coordinating meetings, and onboarding new trustees.

• Ensure organisational compliance with statutory, legal, and data protection requirements.

• Lead on risk management, maintaining robust policies, risk registers and assessments, and mitigation strategies.

• Coordinate the annual audit and reporting to the Charity Commission.

Strategy and Planning

• Partner with the Executive Director on strategic planning, helping to strengthen GiveOut’s sustainability and impact.

• Support the Executive Director in exploring new markets, operating models, and partnerships.

Financial Oversight

• Lead on financial management, including budgeting, cashflow forecasting, management accounts and financial reporting.

• Ensure compliance with financial policies, charity regulations, and audit requirements.

• Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities to strengthen financial resilience.
   

Operational Management

• Lead the smooth and efficient running of daily operations, ensuring systems and processes support the team’s effectiveness.

• Identify and implement process improvements across functions to drive efficiency, accountability, and collaboration.

• Oversee internal communications and office management, fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working culture.
   

Management and Human Resources

• Provide effective line management and leadership to team members in the Operations Grant-Making and Communications teams. 

• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance review processes.

• Maintain and update HR policies, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with GiveOut’s values.

• Cultivate a learning culture and support staff wellbeing and professional development.

• Oversee payroll, pensions and benefits administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a strategic, data-driven, and solutions-oriented Marketing Manager to lead the optimisation of our supporter engagement systems and data-driven marketing operations in the UK.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering seamless, personalised experiences for our supporters. Line-managing the UK Marketing and Communications team members, the Marketing Manager will streamline and coordinate Animal Equality’s public communications, ensuring they are streamlined, impactful, and evidence-based.

The Role 

The CSJ Foundation is looking for a Regional Portfolio Manager (North) to join its Portfolio team to help grow and professionalise it’s offering to charities and donors alike. The CSJF has big ambitions for its work with small charities over the next 3 years, central to this work is our Portfolio team. Based in the north of England (ideally north of Sheffield), the post-holder will be responsible for delivering first-rate charity due diligence on some of the best small charities in the UK. In this role you will use tech solutions to drive insights and understanding about CSJF’s work with charities, in addition, the post-holder will gather intel from frontline charities to create insights to inform the CSJ’s policy work. The post-holder will also seek to generate interesting media stories. The post holder will help to generate new income for the CSJF through multiple streams. Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to be both consumers and producers of learning through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse. 

Tender has grown significantly in recent years. We have secured income from an increasing range of sources: corporates, major donors, trusts & foundations and statutory funders. We have done this with a small but highly effective development team.

With a clear strategic focus for the next five years, we are strengthening our development team to ensure we have the funding needed to achieve our strategic ambitions. We plan to grow both the extent of our reach across the country, and the difference we make to the people we work with. We are also planning to increase the effectiveness of our policy & influencing work, aiming to deliver significant, systemic change to how violence against women and girls is prevented.

You will play a pivotal role in raising the funding for our ambitions, focusing on statutory and trusts & foundations income streams. You will lead on both these income streams, managing existing funders and securing new funders. You will secure income from your own portfolio of funders and partners, and lead and inspire the team to achieve their own ambitious targets, both through new sources and through excellent stewardship of existing funders.

Role purpose

The main purposes of this role are:

• Researching, identifying and applying for grant funding and commissioning from statutory sources, trusts and foundations (T&F)
• Developing and writing high quality fundraising bids which align with the objectives and needs of statutory funders, T&F and Tender’s strategic objectives
• Managing and maintaining partnerships and relationships with a range of stakeholders (statutory funders, T&F, delivery partners, professionals in the sector, internal stakeholders)
• Developing the Statutory and T&F strategy in collaboration with the Development Director

Main responsibilities and duties

New business development

• Developing and implementing a strategy to develop relationships with, and maximise income from, statutory sources, T&F
• Working with service managers, designing, developing and submitting high-quality funding proposals to statutory sources, T&F which are technically sound, meet donor requirements and align with Tender’s strategic objectives
• Maintaining an up-to-date market awareness of grant-making trends and best practice in T&F fundraising

Relationships

Administration

Senior Grant Making Manager – 12 months fixed term contract

The Senior Grant Making Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of funding in our England Directorate and in particular our responsive funding in the London, South East and East Region.

Reporting to the Senior Head of Responsive Funding in the London, South East & East Region, you will play a key role in delivering our strategy, ‘It Starts with Community’, maximizing the impact of our funding across the region with a particular focus on London where you will work with others to develop our regional and London specific strategic direction, ensuring excellent management and oversight of day-to-day grant making and learning.

You will own key stakeholder relationships within London and play a lead role in developing the regions’ stakeholder engagement and relationship strategy. You will be a key representative of the National Lottery Community Fund in the region as part of the Regional Leadership Team, deputising for the Head of Region as necessary.

You will also be a key member of the England Leadership Team, maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the England Directorate including other regional teams, key business partners as well as colleagues across The Fund.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading on funding strategy and delivery for London. Working to support the delivery of our Reaching Communities programme and the diversification of our funding portfolio to include partnerships work, more intentional grant making and our commitment to being more than a funder.
• Stakeholder Engagement across London and the region – To maximise our impact, to ensure a joined up collaborative approach and for learning and awareness raising, we need to work with others. You will hold, develop and maintain a strong network of external relationships.
• Leading, supporting and inspiring a team of 3 x Funding Managers (who you line manage) –providing support and overseeing the work of their teams (approx 20 staff), with a focus on delivery, values and maintaining wellbeing. You will also provide leadership to the full regional team.
• Leading through change and supporting the delivery of our new operating model and ways of working. This includes ensuring teams understand and adapt to change, that operating structures align and our processes and procedures are consistent across all of England responsive teams.
• Engagement locally and at an England and UK level. – You will liaise with and hold key relationships with other regional hubs and England funding teams as well as functions in Business Support, Knowledge and Learning and Communications, to ensure a joined up one Fund approach. The Role

The HR Manager will operate across the full range of HR generalist functions spanning the staff hire to retire cycle, supporting members of the team who lead specialisms within this (such as recruitment, onboarding, reward and learning and development) to ensure seamless service design and delivery. The Finance Manager will be a pivotal position within JB’s senior leadership team, responsible for the effective and efficient management of all financial operations. Key Responsibilities

Financial Management And Reporting (Operational & Strategic)

• Management accounts: Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, commentary, and analysis for the Managing Director, CEO, and the Board of Trustees.

Person Specification

Essential experience and knowledge

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/AAT), with at least 5-10 years of demonstrable, progressive experience in a similar finance role, with a significant portion gained within the UK charity/non-profit sector.

• In-depth, practical knowledge of UK charity financial regulations and Charity SORP.

• Expert-level understanding of VAT for charities, including partial exemption and trading subsidiaries.

• Proven ability to manage the full accounting cycle, from transaction entry (bookkeeping) through to preparing statutory accounts.

• Experience in managing the annual audit process and engaging with external auditors.

What you’ll do

• Lead our global and UK membership recruitment and retention campaigns to meet ambitious growth targets.
• Develop and deliver a clear and compelling membership proposition that evolves with our members’ needs.
• Build and manage partnerships with global societies, universities and professional bodies.
• Use data and insight to identify opportunities, trends and challenges across the membership base.
• Oversee the use of CRM systems and insight tools to inform strategic decisions and support engagement.
• Lead a small team, ensuring clear direction, motivation and professional development.
• Represent the RCR at global events and conferences, maximising opportunities for engagement and partnership.

What you’ll need

• Proven experience in delivering membership recruitment and retention campaigns, ideally on a global scale.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience using data and CRM systems to drive strategy and evaluate success.
• A proactive, creative and analytical mindset with the confidence to test and learn.

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000
Contract: Permanent, 28–35 hours per week (core hours 10–4)
Location: London office – 2 days per week inc. Wednesday

You’ll be stepping into a well-established portfolio of engaged major donors and will work closely with the new Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships to grow income and deepen relationships. This role offers the chance to make a real impact in a high-performing, collaborative team that’s already making waves in the sector.

To be successful as the Philanthropy Manager, you will need:

• Proven experience securing £50K gifts from major donors and managing complex relationships.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage high-profile individuals.
• A proactive, strategic mindset with the ability to identify and cultivate new donor prospects.
