The role

The Finance and Operations Manager will oversee the charity’s back-office functions, ensuring that the charity meets the highest standards of governance and management and that the charity’s philanthropy services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

• Providing the accounting and financial management function for the charity.
• Overseeing the management of the charity’s portfolio of investments, including expanding the range of investment options for our DAFs.

Manage and develop the Community Hub providing activities, personal development opportunities and information for refugees and people seeking asylum.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our sector-leading Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive.

We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and fantastic culture. As a key member of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll work alongside the Community Fundraising Managers, Executives and Co-ordinators to achieve the exciting growth plans in our new 3 -year fundraising strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on our DIY walking and cycling fundraising activity, which currently raises over £750k each year. Using data and insight, you’ll spot trends, identify new opportunities and help shape fresh, creative ideas to grow income and improve the supporter experience. We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering brilliant supporter experiences, building genuine relationships and stewarding fundraisers through their events. You’ll bring excellent organisational skills and experience of planning and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, making sure we hit our KPIs and maximise fundraising income. Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Community Outreach Manager to manage and expand our outreach efforts. The Community Outreach Manager will be responsible for leading a team to deliver Betknowmore UK's Community Outreach services, engaging with local communities, and supporting individuals impacted by gambling harms. 

This is a key leadership role that involves overseeing the service’s strategy, operations, and delivery, ensuring that services are accessible, effective, and meet the needs of diverse communities.

The role:

The primary purpose of the Project Operations Manager role is to provide leadership to ensure that their project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities:

• To take charge of and lead their projects, and the staff and volunteers working on them. Ensure project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets. This includes project reporting, overseeing and managing website, media, online and other communications activities related projects, and managing project budgets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of their Operational Plan.
• With the Trustee Board and grants team, support the revival of appropriate dormant projects and the creation of new projects. Contribute to and endorse grant applications and ensure funder targets and goals are met.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with their Trustees and key staff.
• With the Support Manager, positively influence the culture within their to ensure it remains an inclusive, diverse and effective working community and continue the charity’s policy of highly supportive and positive management of staff and volunteers, ensuring that their Values are upheld.
• Contribute to ensuring effective welfare and safeguarding policies are in place that are understood and regularly communicated to volunteers and employees.
• Ensure they deliver excellent customer service, so that service users, external organisations and partners receive high-quality service and support; and ensure any complaints or issues are managed promptly and satisfactorily resolved.

About you:

They are seeking an experienced charity operations and/or projects manager who can bring skills, expertise and knowledge into their rapidly expanding charity.

Essential skills and experience:

• Previous experience of successfully managing UK charity or not-for profit projects and/or services, including financial and budgetary controls.
• A track record of proactive success in achieving project and service goals and outcomes.
• Previous experience of successfully managing staff and, ideally, volunteers.
• A proven ability to effectively plan and manage a mixed portfolio of tasks and activities, including managing your own time effectively.

Uniquely, they are mainly voluntary charity. They have over 150 volunteers, mostly disabled people, supported by a small staff team, who themselves run their projects and services. Many of their volunteers are jobseekers or needing help to move forward in their lives and they actively support them by the way we work.

Meet your Manager

In this role, you will be managed by Lydia Baker. Lydia joined ClientEarth in August 2024 and in her role as a Grants Manager is responsible for managing relationships with key funders. Lydia has worked in the NGO sector for over eight years and has expertise in a variety of functions including grant management, programme management, communications and monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.  On a day-to-day basis you will work closely with Lydia as part of an established Grants Team that sits within the Development Department at ClientEarth.

Main Duties

• Funding portfolio management - Have a close and in-depth knowledge of their grants portfolio, including a sound understanding of the philanthropic, institutional and statutory funding mix;
• Internal and external communications - Meet with Trust, Foundation and Institution portfolio managers to discuss proposals, provide updates on the programmatic work, and to formally report back on financial, organisational and technical issues; 
• Project management - Effectively manage reporting and the grant renewal process from start to completion including working with multiple teams across ClientEarth’s European and international offices to ensure input from all avenues to complete proposals and reports in a timely and high-quality manner; and 
• Financial planning and budget handling - Work with Finance and Programmes staff to develop individual budgets for funding proposals
• Systems and processes - Maintain funder database systems (Raiser’s Edge) and other organisational databases (SharePoint) on a daily basis

The role

We are looking for an experienced part-time NEBOSH or IOSH qualified Health and Safety Manager, who will lead manage and develop our health and safety requirements and responsibilities around working outside and around water.

We have a health and safety management plan which following on from our Health and Safety audit, has outlined the framework for this role and what is needed to be implemented over the next 12 months.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Work with both Head of HR and Operations Manager on certain aspects of office Health & Safety with as and where necessary
• Project manage and deliver all requirements of the new created H&S Management Plan
• Work with managers on Construction Design Management (CDM) health and safety
• Track and ensure that risk assessments are being completed within teams for events and elsewhere where required in Thames21
• Work with HR and line managers to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) are created, updated and reviewed periodically
• Deliver the H&S induction session with new joiners when and where applicable
• Work with the Operations Manager to ensure vehicle checks are conducted in accordance with the vehicles policy, and that all drivers are trained in the use of the inspection checklists and all aspects of vehicle inspection.
• Compile a quarterly incident report to the Head of HR
• Manage the incident reporting system, escalating serious incidents (including risks) to senior management

• Manage a programme of safety audits to reporting these to the management team
• Manage and run the quarterly H&S group meetings and keep track of progress of actions that have been assigned
• Conduct training sessions on other related health and safety as and when required
• Other duties commensurate with the role

Overview  

At Young Roots, we want to see a compassionate and welcoming society for young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We work alongside young people seeking safety in the UK, building trusted relationships, providing practical and emotional support and promoting young people’s rights and power.   

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, had traumatic journeys and who are often here alone, to find community and connection, have a space to be a young person and access support in addressing a whole range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people.  

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. 

You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. An excellent communicator and skilled at working with partners, you will be key in the implementation and running all of our weekly youth activities, including a Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub working closely with the Youth Development Worker and having oversight of our weekly Young Women’s group. 

As an experienced manager, you will lead our team of skilled youth workers, working alongside the Brent team to provide holistic support to young asylum seekers and refugees in Brent.  

You will prioritise the participation of young people in all activities, ensuring excellent safeguarding by following our policy and protocols, and ensure that we collect excellent data for monitoring and evaluation and to aid our future planning. You will also assist with staff and volunteer recruitment and reporting to our funding partners. 

The Youth Development Coordinator will hold a Designated Safeguarding Officer role at Young Roots for which they will receive full training.
