Overall purpose of the role

The Owned Events Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity’s evolving portfolio of owned and virtual fundraising events — a strategically important area of growth for the organisation.  

Working as part of a dynamic and cross-functional fundraising team, this role leads on the planning, execution and scaling of original event products — from large-scale mass participation experiences like the St Thomas’ Abseil, to creative, insight-driven virtual campaigns and supporter-led challenges. It’s a diverse, hands-on portfolio that brings together live delivery, digital innovation and product development. 

With a clear focus on income growth, audience engagement and supporter experience, the role blends operational expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking. You’ll work closely with teams across fundraising, supporter experience, digital, innovation and comms to pilot new ideas, improve performance, and build events that inspire action and loyalty. 

This is a delivery-focused role requiring end-to-end event management experience — from logistics, safety and supplier coordination, to data-led decision-making, budget ownership and multi-channel stewardship. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of owned and virtual fundraising events — from concept through to post-event evaluation — ensuring operational excellence, creativity, and supporter satisfaction.
• Deliver large-scale in-person events such as the St Thomas’ Abseil, including venue and supplier coordination, safety planning, risk management, insurance, and on-the-day execution.
• Develop and grow virtual fundraising products, such as Steps For Evelina, drawing on insight, testing and digital best practice to create scalable, supporter-led experiences.
• Lead cross-functional project teams and working groups — aligning stakeholders across digital, supporter experience, innovation, comms and fundraising to deliver shared outcomes.
• Manage event budgets end to end — including forecasting, reforecasting, reconciliation and performance analysis — and use financial insight to inform decisions on where to invest, scale or refine.
• Lead on supporter acquisition for owned products, including paid digital campaigns (PPC, social), segmentation strategies, audience targeting and grassroots recruitment.
• Create and implement behavioural, insight-led supporter journeys — driving engagement and long-term value through personalised, multi-channel communications.
• Produce and maintain risk assessments, permits and compliance documentation, ensuring safe and well-managed delivery across all owned events.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams, suppliers, venues and agencies to ensure delivery is aligned, effective and on brand.
• Monitor KPIs and use performance data, feedback and market trends to evaluate success, inform future development and drive continuous improvement.

Work environment

• The post holder should expect to:

• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home. 

• Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.

• Will occasionally be required to attend events in the evening and at weekends.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience delivering owned, public-facing or virtual fundraising events, with full responsibility for planning, delivery, compliance, and performance.
• Strong track record in hands-on event delivery, including supplier and venue management, live production, logistics, and on-the-day coordination.
• Experience developing and implementing risk assessments, permits, insurances and health & safety documentation.
• Demonstrated success in launching new fundraising products — from concept through to live delivery — using innovation frameworks or test-and-learn methodology.
• Knowledge of digital acquisition, including PPC, paid social and segmentation strategies for events.
• Proven ability to lead cross-team project groups and manage external partners, contractors or agencies.
• Experience managing detailed budgets, with strong financial accountability and performance tracking.
• Expert in live event planning, delivery, and documentation — including compliance, health & safety and supplier contracts.
• Strong understanding of virtual fundraising best practices and digital supporter engagement.
• Confident using audience insight and supporter data to drive product development and communications.
• Clear grasp of behavioural communications and how to apply them across email, WhatsApp, SMS and face-to-face.
• Skilled project manager with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams, deadlines and priorities.

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Worker to deliver services for Young Carers aged 5–16. The role involves three key parts. The first is delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote wellbeing, reduce isolation, and give Young Carers a break from their responsibilities. The second is providing one-to-one support to help Young Carers manage challenges, access services, and prioritise their mental and emotional wellbeing. The third is leading outreach with schools, colleges, community settings and professionals to identify and engage hidden Young Carers. 

About The Role: 

You will work across two key age groups, 5–11 and 12–16, delivering and supervising activities, supporting events and trips, and providing behavioural management where needed. Alongside group activities, you will offer one-to-one support to individual Young Carers, ensuring they feel heard, included, and supported as they navigate the challenges of their caring roles. You will also deliver awareness training sessions, run stalls, and build partnerships in the community to identify and engage Young Carers. 

This is a part-time post (3 days per week). Flexibility is required, with regular evening and occasional weekend work.

About the opportunity
Working closely with the Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider Philanthropy Department, the Corporate Partnerships Coordinator will identify and cultivate fruitful partnerships with a range of small, medium and large businesses.
They will help maximise the potential of corporate and other organisations for funding, volunteer recruitment, and other philanthropic opportunities, to enable growth and sustainability for Action Tutoring. This will be achieved by securing and nurturing small to medium sized organisations to provide financial support for programmes. About this key role

Our successful candidate will focus on coordinating and supporting the day-to-day operations of the offices, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow, plus coordinate compliance with internal policies and external regulations and ensuring timely response to any incidents or breaches such as data protection, health and safety, ISO 27001.  You will also be expected to coordinate and support the implementation of new initiatives and projects within the Pillar Structure, and oversee and support organisational systems and processes, making them work efficiently for teams.

We will also rely on you to support projects through tracking compliance with good project governance expectations and to support Service Delivery Teams by coordinating the collation and reporting of contractual performance data for internal processes as well as for commissioners and funders.  Assisting with employee onboarding, induction and leavers, including necessary paperwork, ITC equipment, and access control; supporting employee training and development, including coordinating training sessions, tracking attendance, and maintaining training records; and assisting with financial administration tasks, including invoice processing, expense management, and budget tracking are also all key aspects of the role.

Key duties and responsibilities

· In conjunction with the board, lead the creation of a new strategy for the charity and develop and implement appropriate business and financial plans, with clear objectives and outcomes and to operationalise the strategy, ensuring all activities are aligned to achieve the strategy. 

· Develop and implement a new income generation strategy, including building relationships with funders, and strengthening and growing our individual giving programme to put the charity on the path to becoming financially self-sustaining.

· Work with the Campaigns Manager to continue the delivery of high quality campaigns to make London a better city for older people and position Age UK London; and ensure campaigns are grounded in evidence and the views and experiences of older Londoners.  

• Ensure that the Charity maintains relationships with all appropriate external stakeholders so that our campaigns are successful and the voices of older Londoners are heard in decision making, and to oversee the delivery of our external communications plan.
• Have overall responsibility for the lawful and efficient operation of the Charity including overseeing our outsourced finance function, governance; regulatory reporting; legal and regulatory compliance; HR, premises, insurances, IT and all other operational matters. 
• Maintain our relationships with local London Age UKs via our existing networks and regional structures.
• Ensure appropriate reporting to the board with necessary analysis, (risk/benefits/resources) clearly presented to allow the board to discharge its governance function.

Experience

Essential 

• Experience managing the operational  and financial aspects of a small charity.
• Proven ability to build relationships with funders and secure grant income linked to campaigning activity.
• Practical senior level experience in campaigning to make sustainable change.
• Some experience of working directly with trustees is needed but this does not have to be as a CEO.

Desirable

• Experience acting as the “public face” of a campaigning organisation interfacing with the media, politicians and other stakeholders.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving Bowel Research UK's fundraising strategies and audience engagement initiatives.

This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, growing the charity’s supporter base and income, building up new and under-developed income streams and communicating effectively with their audiences to expand their reach, and encourage financial and non-financial support to deliver the organisations mission.

You will have the autonomy and scope to drive elements of your work and take ownership of your own objectives. You will be required to collaborate on decisions to shape and deliver initiatives, programmes and processes as required for each area of income delivery. 

Key to the success of this role is a strong understanding of individual giving fundraising – an area that is underdeveloped at Bowel Research UK. This role blends the strategic oversight and leadership of a Head of Fundraising role, with the hands-on expertise of an IG fundraiser.

The successful candidate for this role will be someone who has already operated at a senior level within a charity such as at Senior Manager level, or Head of in a specific income stream. Having a background or significant experience in delivery across individual giving is also vital due to the importance of that income stream to Bowel Research UK – the post holder will be the organisations expert in IG.

Job Purpose:
